7 QUARTERLY CHECK (SEVEN)

Days go by of the same thing, those turn to weeks, months, and finally, we arrived at the end of the first quarter of the year. I could show a little more of my power now that we had been at the school for a few months but still nowhere near my true ability, that was stillvgrowing with the new training methods Mr. S was teaching me. Also the classes that the headmaster spoke of should be starting now, with multiple different teachers teaching me how to control each element better. I assume they'll start from the basics, but I hope they'll let me show them where I am so we can improve.

Every quarter there is a check on your knowledge and growth, it has almost no effect on your schooling, but it is good for the teachers to know who is grasping the concepts and main ideas of their classes.

This check entails a relatively long written test, a mana control demonstration, and a power number higher than your previous by, at minimum, 500.

The writer test was first. It wasn't too hard, it was asking questions about ranks, royals, and a little history they assumed we already knew because we went to school before awakening. Well, most of us did, I'm here of fantasy novel content.

I chose answer a as it made the most sense to me then continued on.

The elves hate the humans because they see them as the lower version of themselves. The humans hate the dwarves because they see them as the little, uglier versions of themselves. The dwarves hate the elves because while the humans hate them, they see them as people, the elves (used to) only see dwarves as machines who made and enchanted their weapons.

7.Why is it good to be ready to use all 4 basic elements?

It is good to be ready to use the basic elements because a magic beast drops a crystal that you can use to control the element of that crystal regardless of your element, but there is limited mana in the crystal so most people only use crystals rank B or up, sometimes rank C.

I flew through the rest of the test, not really sure how I knew the answers, but I didn't care.

After the writen test was the control test, in this you had to create a low quality mana crystal and create a mana entity to do a simple obstacle course. The obsticle course was just moving left and right, and the entity could just be a ball so long as it was visible and you could move it. I aced this of course with a miniature water golem, similar to the one I used in the duel a few months ago, but more detailed and much more powerful. While it was not the best i could do, I had to show something or it would look as though I was getting progressively worse.

The third test was the number/power test. Since the last time I did one of these I accidentally showed too high of a number I decided to see how much others had improved before I went up to do mine(there was no specific order for this one). Rachel went up first, she put her hand on the crystal and out shot the number 5892, over 2,000 more than at the beginning of the year. Most other students improved by a few hundred(>500), some even tens(they got kicked out for lack of practice or talent). Then it was laura's turn, she went up and out came the number 5211, around the same increase as Rachel but slightly lower. Thrain went next and the onlookers went wild when the number that came out of the crystal was 7368, almost 3000 higher than the start of the year. After seeing all this I figured a 2500 increase shouldn't be too bad considering my initial number so I went up. I made sure to only use water mana when I put the slightest drop into the crystal. My face fell and the butterflies in my stomach performed a whole circus when the number that came out was 14589.

over 6000 increase in a quarter, it was unheard of in first year students.

Up in his office the headmaster was surprised that leo managed to control his mana down to only get a 5 digit number as he knew he could get tens if not hundreds even possibly thousands times that number. He chuckled to himself as he muttered "weird kid". He then remembered that the lessons for every element were supposed to start after this week. He decided to have leo test his elemental powers on the crystal individually to see what he needed to focus on the most.

Back at the crystal I had my head in my hands and was yelling at myself while trying to figure out what I did wrong. I tried for a 2500 increase and did more than double that. Rachel noticed my sad expression and decided to come over to see what was wrong.

"why the long face" she asked

"when did we become friends" I replied, a little harsher than I meant

"hmph" she turned to walk away, then i reached out

"please, sit with me, 'your highness'" I said mockingly

she chuckled and sat down.

"I'll meet you tonight to explain" I said quietly "where you usually sit with the other princess to have lunch."

"ok" she answered and got up to leave

"come alone" I whisper shouted as she was walking away hoping she could still hear me.
