Chapter 1Supernatural System

[System:

Welcome new host, this is the supernatural system. You may refer to me as Sera, and I will guide you through your journey to becoming the greatest hunter. Good luck!]

"What the hell is this? Am I still dreaming?" said the young man who had just woken up at his desk. He looked around the room, seeming to have no idea where he was.

He muttered silently, "Where am I? I remember walking down the street, and then everything suddenly went dark."

Just as he finished the sentence, he was hit with a sudden headache, and a flow of memories started flooding into his mind. The pain was unbearable, making it hard for him to think straight. All he could do was put his hands over his head, trying to lessen the pain. This went on for 30 minutes.

"My name is Kael Thorne."

He realized this from the memories that had just flooded into his brain. But then, he corrected himself.

"No, to be exact, this body's name is Kael Thorne. My actual name is…"

He muttered, then fell silent. He couldn't remember his past name or any information about his previous life.

He tried hard to remember, but none of his past memories surfaced. It was as if they had become nonexistent. His expression fell into despair. He didn't know what to do next, but the glowing system was still floating in midair. Kael turned and looked at it.

"System… what even is this thing?"

He looked around to make sure this wasn't some prank. He even punched the system, but his fist only went through it, almost making him fall over. Finally, he slapped himself in the face, feeling a fiery pain rush through his cheek. He was now certain he wasn't hallucinating.

"I've tried everything. It seems like this system isn't going anywhere, so what exactly is it?"

The moment Kael said that, the system reacted, and new words began to appear.

[System:

I'm Sera, your guide. I will guide you through your journey to becoming a hunter.]

"Hunter? What is that? Do you want me to go out and hunt deer or other wild animals?"

Kael questioned the system, finding the term "hunter" a bit strange. He didn't know what the system was implying. But there was no response.

"…Well, let's forget about this system thing for now."

He approached the window in his room. He stuck his head out a little to view the outside world he had somehow been transported to. The structure of the buildings was very modern, similar to Kael's past life world, Earth. From the memories he received, it seemed like the only difference was this world had a different religion, with various gods he had never heard of.

The sound of a knock suddenly came from his door. There was a soft, young girl's voice on the other side.

"Brother, are you in there? We ran out of groceries. Can you go out and buy some?"

Kael remembered one of the memories that had flowed in. This body's owner had a family. He had an older sister and a younger sister. His parents had died in an accident a few years ago, leaving only him and his sisters to live on their own.

"Okay, I'll head out in a few minutes."

After he said that, he heard his little sister's footsteps walking away from the door. He now realized he was in big trouble. Just now, to avoid suspicion, he had quickly agreed, but he had just reincarnated into this body and had no idea about the places or directions in this world. The memories he received only contained information about this body and its basic background, not much about this world.

Kael toughened up and took his first step into this new world. He walked out of his room. The first thing he noticed was how big the house was. The size of this house was as large as a penthouse.

"I knew the owner of this body was rich, but I didn't expect him to be this rich."

He muttered silently, trying not to catch his sister's attention.

His little sister, Elizabeth, noticed he had come out of his room.

"You finally got out of your room. I'm preparing dinner, so you can head out and buy groceries for the next week. The money is on the table."

Kael walked toward the table and grabbed the envelope containing the money. Inside, there was a total of 10,000 dollars. Kael was caught off guard, almost spitting out the water he had just drunk.

His mind went into chaos. He didn't know what to think. He couldn't understand what kind of groceries would need this much money.

"WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ME TO BUY, A GOLD BAR?"

His sister noticed his weird reaction when he opened the envelope and asked him, "Is something wrong? You look kind of unwell."

Kael quickly responded, though doing so only heightened her suspicion.

"There's nothing wrong, just a bit shocked at the amount, haha…."

"Isn't it the usual amount?" Elizabeth replied, not understanding if something was wrong with the amount.

Elizabeth's suspicion of Kael started to grow slightly. When Kael walked out of his room, he was acting a bit strange, unlike his usual self. Kael also noticed his sister's suspicion, so to avoid any more awkward conversations, he quickly headed out of the house.

"I'll be back with the groceries, so there's nothing to worry about. See you later."

He then quickly shut the front door and went on his way, leaving his sister in confusion. She continued to prepare dinner, deciding there wasn't much to worry about.

On his way to buy groceries, Kael noticed the system was following him around. He turned his head left and right, but it seemed like no one else could see the system.

"Weird… so am I the only one who can see it?"

Kael kept walking around the streets, but the deeper he went, the more unfamiliar the roads became. He didn't care much at first, thinking it wasn't a big deal, so he just kept walking. But after taking countless random routes, he ended up lost in a dark alleyway.

"I got lost, didn't I…"

The day was getting darker, and Kael was in real trouble if he couldn't find his way back soon. While trying to figure out how to get out, he noticed two crimson-red dots glowing deeper in the alley. To see what they were, he walked toward them, slowly approaching. He saw a humanoid figure and tried to talk to it.

"Hello, sir, I kinda got lost. Is there a way to get out of here?"

As he got closer, a sudden stench of rot hit the air. It was so bad that he couldn't describe it, but he knew it stank like hell.

He gently tapped the man on the shoulder to get his attention.

"Excuse me, sir…"

Then he noticed the man's flesh was rotting, and the stench was coming from him.

"Sir, are you okay? Do you need me to call for help?"

After he asked that, the man suddenly tackled him aggressively. Kael then noticed that the crimson-red dots were the man's eyes. The man had ashen skin, razor-sharp teeth, and hands that ended in menacing claws.

Kael finally realized this man was not human.

"What the f*ck! What are you?"

He quickly pushed the thing away and made a run for it. As fast as he ran, the thing didn't stop chasing him.

"Why the f*ck is this thing chasing me?"

He looked back and forth to see how far away the thing was, but he wasn't watching where he was going. He tripped over a rock and fell to the ground. The thing caught up to him and tackled him, pinning Kael to the ground.

The thing then opened its mouth wide and took a huge bite out of Kael.

"AHHHH F*CK!!!! IT HURTS LIKE HELL!"

"F*ck, am I going to die today? I just got reincarnated, and now I'm caught in this situation."

Just when Kael thought he was about to die, a new message appeared on the system.

[System:

The condition has been met. Congratulations on becoming a hunter!]

[Initializing….]

"What…?"

At the same time, the new message appeared, the thing's head was suddenly cut off and rolled to the ground. There was blood dripping, but it wasn't red like human blood—it was black. Standing in front of Kael was a woman with long blonde hair, holding a weird-looking sword.

"Thank you…"

When Kael tried to thank her, the woman suddenly hit him, and his vision slowly turned dark.

In this ruthless, blood-soaked reality, Northern—a white-haired boy burdened by his past life—was reincarnated. But unlike the chosen heroes, he awakened as a talentless nobody. No power. The first few hundreds would be frustrating to follow because MC is weak but that makes the experience all the more interesting when MC finally gets freaking strong and starts wiping the floor with everyones asses.

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.
