Apparently, whatever attempt he had tried was unsuccessful but Desmond could not sit still knowing Kibadios could come for him any time. After some preparation, the deviant monk escaped from the capital the next day.

The important question, though, is what are you going to tell the envoy? Most likely they will want to take Stringer dono into custody.
