5 Chapter 5: Resentment

When Kendrick swung the sword in his hand, he could feel the misery so severely that he feared his hand would fall from his arm at any second.

At the same time, he was subconsciously preparing everything for the forthcoming events in the future. He had to be careful not to get swept up in the flow of events. Otherwise, Kendrick felt certain he wouldn't be able to ensure his safety.

"I need to somehow get it."

The item he was referring to was the crown he discovered while playing the game back on Earth. One of the scenarios in the game saw the main player being lost in the woods and eventually discovering a wrecked cathedral. And inside there, he found the "crown of heroes" which said came from ancient times.

Although he couldn't remember the exact location, he figured that if he could retrieve the crown, his safety would be guaranteed.

The crown is one of the main character's key abilities in the game, and while it's unfortunate that the main character won't be able to have it, he needs to ensure his own safety first.

While Kendrick was lost in his thoughts, Jredd heard footsteps behind them and turned to look behind. And there, he spotted three women approaching them.

The first had red long hair and a lovely face; the other two, of course, do not pale in comparison to the first, their blue sky hair swooping around in the air along with their stunning looks. The scarlet-haired woman had a playful smirk on her face, and the other two ladies looked on at her and Kendrick with disdain.

They were all Dan Alastair's siblings. The daughters of Viscount Anwir gathered all together.

Alissa stepped in front, a smug expression on her face as she reached up to Jredd's chin when she was completely in front of him, and whispered, "Don't worry, I'll be visiting your room again tonight. Hopefully, I don't keep you waiting for long, Jredd."

"Eeeck…."

Jredd lowered his head and took a step back as he glanced over at Kendrick, who is now known as Dan Alastair.

Kendrick was still buried in his thoughts and had no idea that his siblings had gathered behind him as he continued swinging his sword forward like a berserker who had no sense left within their mind.

At that moment, one of his sisters, who had blue hair like the sky, began sprinting towards him, her eyes blazing with malice. She tried to touch him on the shoulder as if she had something to say.

Kendrick spun around with a tiger's ferocity. It was so threatening that she nearly stopped breathing.

Not only that, but something unexpectedly struck her stomach at the same time. Kendrick was stroking the back of a wooden sword.

"Cough, cough, cough..."

As her knees sank to the ground, she began wheezing, and when she looked up, the frightening gleam in his eyes had vanished. It was as if it hadn't ever been there.

Kendrick expressed remorse, his expression troubled and attentive, "Are you all right? S- I'm sorry, it was all instinct..."

Kendrick had no intention of assaulting her before seeing her expression, but when he saw it, he took everything back. He immediately realized how many days he had to go without sleep since he was playing the game where that exact face caused him so much difficulty on multiple occasions.

'That was well deserved, you bitch!'

Yuusa Alastair, one of the antagonists introduced midway through the narrative. She emerged in the game without saying which family she belonged to, and she frequently murdered the main character.

'That's not enough to satisfy me, darn it!'

He also lamented the fact that he only got one hit on her. To be honest, if he'd known she'd be okay, he'd have gone for a hundred hit combo back there.

"Are you all right, Yuusa?" Kendrick said, extending his hand in a princely fashion.

Yuusa's venomous animosity was nowhere to be seen. In actuality, it was quickly replaced with something even more bizarre. With a wide smile on her face, she was quickly turning red.

Kendrick thought it was unsettling, but quickly rejected the notion as Yuusa took his helping hand and stood up.

Her legs were trembling as if she couldn't stand up for long. Kendrick let go of her hand when he saw she could at least stand up now.

"Are you all right?"

Kendrick inquired again whether she was okay after seeing she wasn't communicating at all, as if she were a maiden in love.

She stood there in a stupor, staring at his face with a pout on her lovely face, as if she had no power to communicate.

Behind them, the two other sisters raced as fast as they could and grabbed her wrist.

"Yuusa, are you alright?" Alissa checked her body, and when she noticed a small bruise on her tummy, she glared at Kendrick and said furiously, "You have no right to do this to her! You heard me, I'll tell you firsthand that Father won't be able to get enough of this!"

The other buried her head between Yuusa's arms and carried Yuusa's shoulder with her own body. Unlike Alissa, her eyes were not filled with hateful feelings against Kendrick.

"Brother? What became of Sis?"

Everything happened so quickly that their eyes couldn't keep up with his movements even though they were observing while the situation unfolded. Her brother's mobility is no longer comparable to that of a typical knight.

Kendrick couldn't say anything since he truly intended to hurt her, and instead, he kept staring at Jredd.

He seemed to be urging him to "take care of everything for me."

Jredd sighed, removing the terrified expression from his face, and proceeded till he was in front of Yuusa, where he tried to assist her to stand up correctly once more.

However, before he could even touch her, her face became frigid, and a smack automatically struck his face.

"Do not come near me with your filthy hands."

She glanced at him coldly, as if he were an insect, and shyly went red again when she realized Kendrick was smiling at her.

Kendrick looked at her with strange eyes. He had no clue what was going on right now.

He was ready to approach her, despite the fact that she was supposed to be angry with him. When their gazes met, the hatred in her eyes had vanished, so had the frigid look.
