6 Resolve x Training

After I recovered from the injuries on my arm and legs, I unwrapped the bandages covering them. I had five scars going across each of my legs, one on the top of my left thigh, another in a similar position on my right leg, two scars across each foot and one on my calf. There was two scars on each arm, each one making two lines across my arms. I noticed that red and thin lines began to form on my arms, slowly beginning to spread day by day. I clenched my fist tightly as it shook, feeling the strong desire to start training.

"It seems you are ready to start. Good." Machi was leaning on the entrance of the building before jumping down. I guess this is where she gets her more serious personality from.

"Follow me." Machi lead me away from the abandoned building. It seemed that there was a district of Meteor City that had more abandoned buildings than actual trash heaps. It was almost like a maze with how many buildings were erected here. Honestly, I think it might have meant to be a maze.

Weaving through the many trashed buildings, we finally reached one building. Well, it wasn't much different from the others but it seemed more patched up. Machi made sure no one followed us before closing the metal double doors. Right before we got to the main part of the building, Machi kneeled down to me and looked me directly into the eyes.

"Remember, when I introduce you to them, don't make any sudden moves or try anything funny. Got it?" Oh sh*t, am I going to meet the Troupe? My question was answered as she opened the second set of metal double doors.

To my left, I saw a man with short, black hair, wearing a long trench coat without a shirt and black pants. Chrollo Lucilfer. On my right, I saw people sitting on crates. One was a guy with spiky black hair and wearing full body robes. Another was a tall man wearing a Japanese style robe and a katan on his waist. The third was a tall and voluptious woman with blond hair and wearing a suit with a small pencil skirt. there was a big man with scars on his face and long earlobes with a suit on. The last was a smaller yet still giant man with spiky grey hair and only wearing fur shorts and boots, exposing his muscles.

"Oh, Machi, who's this?" The tall man with the sword asked. I felt an overwhelming presence, like I was an ant in a room of giants.

"This is my new student, Yukana. Introduce yourself." She pat me forward, leaving my nervousness to develop even further. I guess these past few years of being sheltered returned me to my socially inept ways.

"My name is Yukana, I have no last name, um, I was born here in Meteor City-" GOOD THINKING IDIOT OBVIOUSLY YOU WERE BORN HERE AAAAH! "-And I'm currently studying under Machi-" OH MY GOD SHE ALREADY SAID THAT AAAAAAAAAAAAAA- "-I like food and uhh getting stronger..." I felt my voice squeaking in nervousness and sweat dropping down my forehead. My raging thoughts were put to a halt as Machi placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Heh, I didn't think he'd be this shy. He's usually really smart for his age, so I thought he could speak to new people better." Just bury me and I'll be food for the worms...

"I'd better not impede your training. Go on." Chrollo finally spoke up, waving Machi off. She was surprised for a moment before beginning to walk away. My legs were rooted in the ground for a moment until I realized she was gone and began running away.

...

"Okay, first, you need to pick a weapon." Machi had lead me to a large box filled with weapons. Most were probably stolen junk or something of the sort.

"Can I choose 3? I want to be able to have substitutes if I need it." I pleaded, remembering Shokubai Akaza and its usefulness.

"Sure, if you can handle it. Your first exercise will be on your own, and you need to create your own fighting style while fighting me." I wonder if she will be using Nen? If she will, that's a great thing because I could unlock Nen by her using Nen attacks on me by accident. It might be dangerous because of my age though. First, I would start with the hardest. The layered chain spear. I would probably start with the chain part since those are the hardest to control, then to spear, then to sword while practicing hand to hand for the gauntlets during all of them.

...

Over the course of the next 2 years, I spent that time training while mostly hanging out with Machi and sometimes the other Troupe members. I was beginning to get the hang of my own style when Machi approached me during the end of the 2nd year.

"Kana, I'm going on a mission with the Troupe. It's really dangerous and I can't take you so continue practicing your style. You've been making really good progress." Machi informed me. It feels like I'm missing something vital about the Troupe to the plot of Hunter x Hunter. Wait...

The Kurta Clan Massacre

...

The Kurta Clan Massacre was a mysterious event that wasn't really explained well in the series. All we know is that the Kurta's had beautiful scarlet eyes once they had a raging emotion. The main branch of the clan was forced to watch as their loved ones were executed so the eyes were triggered and became harvestable. It was honestly a gruesome event that I completely forgot about.

During all of this, I completely discarded the fact that the Phantom Troupe are real criminals, not just some other kind of "misunderstood anti-hero" trope. Although they are messed up for that, but I still love Machi(like a sister you sickos).

...

Once Machi got back from the mission, she had a slightly horrified expression on her face as she came to our meeting spot. I'm guessing she really feels remorse after what she did. This might be a bad time to ask this, but I need to know...

"Hey, Machi. Can I take the Hunter Exam in 4 years?"
