20 Potentially a new Best Friend?

The three heads were at the edge of their seats, itching to see the end result.

~Present~

*BOOM!* The loud noise echoed through the room, thick smoke covered the situation only leaving blurry shadows off two figures, one of a small girl holding some sort of unidentifiable object and the other a large hog beast behind her. What had happened and what had caused that large explosion?

Down where Lilith was, embraced in the midst of smoke. She stood there calmly in the same position when the beast had charged at her, a glimmer of knowing flickered in her eyes before withdrawing Scarlett from her scythe form. Only Lilith would know what had happened, as she was the one who caused the massive explosion, she knew that the building wouldn't crumple or receive any damages. That's why she waited and waited until the last moment when the demonic beast was with less than 1 metre away before calling Scarlett's assistance, the smoke was a result of the power of the oncoming beast clashing against Scarlett's form; Blood Scythe.

As the smoke was clearing away all that remained was her and the lying demonic hog-beast which laid dead in a pool of scarlet red blood, with a fine line cut from its head to tail. That was caused by the effect of Scarlett's Blood Scythe, the victim's blood would turn a scarlet red and their soulless bodies would be covered with one single fine cut. The person's soul would be then taken upon contact into the scythe where Scarlett would "finish" them to regain her powers.

Seeing as the room remained in utter silence the 3 heads appeared back in the centre of the room, they were still recovering from the shock but showed no signs of it as they stood calmly beside the headmaster, who had a pleasant smile attached to her face. She began speaking as she looked from Lilith to the dead demonic beast, "I see, that we have another star pupil here at Epiphany Light Academy. I'm expecting great things from you Miss Lilith Rosie Carter, congratulations on passing the qualification exams with flying colours. I have already organised one of our top students to come escort you to your dorm where you'll be staying, she will inform you about everything there needs to know whilst your stay here."

"…Mmmm…Thank you very much, Headmaster and you all for supervising my examination today. If there is nothing else I will be taking my leave now…" Lilith replied solemnly, not looking back and heading towards the large door, and giving a short bow of respect as she left, devoid of emotion.

"What a strange girl, she is…" Professor K commented looking at the door that Lilith just left through.

Hearing his words the other two heads couldn't help agree that is until the Headmaster spoke, "She's a talented girl but I wonder what is she hiding…if you had looked carefully during all her tests she had broken through your illusion Jack and she fooled you three during Jasmine's test, on top of that she completely destroyed the demonic beast with a single attack yet it was that fast that we couldn't even witness it. All her tests were done in secret as if she was invisible, this girl's motive is to stay hidden from prying eyes."

Yet when she broke through her plan of hiding during the last test, I'm guessing there's much more to her than what meets the eye."

Hearing this they all fell silent with the Vice-headmaster commenting at the end as he inspected the dead Hellfire Warthog, "with so much experience and skill she doesn't need to attend the academy…I hate to say it but, she is better than the majority if not then all of our staff faculty here. I doubt they even have the qualifications to even teach her…I even question my abilities when looking at her work."

Whilst the 4 were discussing about Lilith, the said person was casually strolling through the Academy's garden with Clara, who was in the same year as Lilith. What surprised Lilith was not that she had short, black chin-length hair, vivid purple eyes, and was roughly the same height as Lilith though she was slightly taller. No, what surprised her was that she wore a uniform similar to a knights uniform, in a nice neat white and turquoise fitted pants, blouse, and blazer with a thin but sharp sword attached to the hilt of her belt.

~Lilith Pov~

She introduced herself to be Clara Giselle Hawkins, the only Daughter of the Hawkins Household who are one of the most prestigious families in Yuriki. I was shocked that this girl went completely against the social norm of what a female should dress and look like, through talking with her for hours she realized that Miss Clara was actually a really interesting person, nothing like the other girls that she had met, Clara, spoke in a manner full of confidence, elegance, and honesty that gave reassurance and guidance.

And on top of that, she was apparently very popular with both the female and male population of the academy, which I wasn't to shocked by since she showed that she was very charming.

Though some girls and boys disliked her as they saw her as a disgrace to the female gender but those girls and men who spoke that way would quickly change to fans and admirers of her within a week, which I found laughable.

We got along really well, she didn't mind my closed-off personality and just kept on talking, informing me about the academy rules and other information that I would need. Though from time to time she would ask questions about me and didn't show any signs of frustration when met with silence or my short replies. She also did make a remark on the supposed rumours that had spread around in the academy, she was also shocked that the rumours that she heard though she chose to ignore them looked to be untrue. As she thought I looked like an adorable innocent angel and considering that she had been called by the headmaster herself to escort me, she knew that I wasn't just an average student. Why else would the headmaster ask for her niece and the daughter of General Hawkins to escort a random student if not they were special..

I had asked her if she was gonna ask or dig further but to my surprise, she didn't care much about it, after all, it was none of her business, and so what came to be was a start to an unexpected cool friendship with Clara. The sun was slowly setting and we continued chatting about our hobbies and interest, whilst making our way to the female dormitory. I found that we had quite a lot in common, as we both aren't very good at making friends and we both had an interest in battling, whether it be hand-to-hand combat, combat with weapons or even duals with magic. She remarkably strong, outspoken and fearless which added to her charm, once we had reached my dorm room, we waved goodbye to each other as it was quite late and she thought that I should get some rest since she thought I was tired.

Entering my new dorm room, I head over to the dresser because something had caught my eye the moment I entered and as I approached, I realised that it was a cute pink box tied with a silk white ribbon with a note placed next to it. As I read through it, all I could say was "Ah, I should've known it was from him..." as a small smile starting to form across my lips. Opening the small box, I'm greeted by two beautiful gold hairpins both with short red threads hanging off the ends attached to mini golden roses.

The letter reminded me about a promise I had made a few days earlier, so placing the gift down back into the box and carefully packing them away in my space. I head for the window beside the bed, opening the latch and swinging it open. I carefully climb out, being extremely cautious as I moved along the edge of the dormitories walls, and since my dorm room so happens to be located on the 5th floor, it was a very big drop down if I slipped, but because of my multiple escapes and experiences scaling tall buildings when I was little, I had proven to be quite good at it. Eventually, I get to a slightly smaller connected building which I then made a leap for, tumbling in the air and landing perfectly on the tiled roof with a tap. Without much thought, I continued scaling the rooftop and just enjoying the feeling of freedom and happiness with the wind against my face. I continued running and leaping from building to building, even adding little spins as I ran it felt like bliss, after a few more minutes of this I finally reached the highest point on the main tower's roof where I sat near the edge of one of the platforms, watching the setting sun.

As I sit patiently and quietly watching the beautiful scenery, I sometimes wonder about what would happen in my last life if I never had been adopted by the agency, what if I didn't get experimented on? I could've lived a normal life maybe even went to school and made some friends…

Completely lost in my thoughts watching the calming sunset, which had cast its warm light over the middle continent. I was so deep in my thoughts that I didn't notice that a certain someone had just arrived and was quietly watching the beautiful sight with me…

"Hey Princess…it's been a while, hasn't it?" A deep, rich yet caring voice reached my ears.

Turning around my eyes sparkle with delight and a smile couldn't help forming on my face as I say giggling, "Yes, yes it has...Felix. It's good to see you." My voice nor face could hide the happiness I felt, seeing him, he was like a best childhood friend to me and I thought of him dearly. I was fully aware that he had some feelings towards me, that's why this year I finally acknowledged them and let him properly court/pursue me.

I get up and rush to him, giving him a tight hug as he spun me around a few times. I've gotten used to it by now as almost all my family, future family (Felix's parents) and close friends (the workers) at the Carter Estate do it.

He chuckles at my childishness and asks, "So how is my princess? I heard from my cousin that you passed the exam with flying colours." He said proudly and sweetly while stroking my hair.

"Mmm, is that why you left me the cute gift? Also, cousin?" I ask, lifting my head up to see his face, curious to why and how he was able to place it on my dresser.

"Yeah, that was me. I dropped it off this morning. I got your dorm room number from Vic, he found out when he was at it again with Clara. So I just used my teleportation to get in your room. Sorry if it made you feel uneasy. And yeah, I forgot to mention that Professor K is actually a cousin of mine, he's my mother's, sister's son, sorry princess for not telling you." He says calmly, his voice containing hints of concern and apology.

"It's fine, Felix. Also, I didn't know that you and Victor knew Clara?" I was really curious to how they knew my newly made friend and what kind of relationship they had with her.

"Well, the thing is…Clara beat Victor's butt in a duel…and from then on those two had been getting on each other's nerves. Though I think Vic may have feelings for her though he probably doesn't know it himself." Felix says happily with laughter, as he thought back to when his buddy had his butt kicked by Clara.

"Aww, I wished I was there to see. Clara must be really good if she destroyed Victor's butt in a duel. She's so awesome!" I was clearly upset and disappointed that I had missed a great show but I knew that there would be multiple chances in the future so I wasn't grieving over it to much.

"Hey! Don't go falling for others when you're my fiancé. Okay?" Felix said flicking my forehead, clearly upset that his girl was showing admiration to his friends "crush".

"Awww, of course…Is someone a little jealous?" I teased playfully, giving him one of my sweet smiles.

"Yes…of course why wouldn't I be."

Their little interaction went on for a while before slowly relaxing in each other's warm embrace, both staring off into the distance at the fading sun, where dusk was soon taking over the warm radiating light, and the millions of shining stars appearing to show themselves to the naked eye.
