16 14. Breaking In pt2

Landing gracefully on the soft grass, of the Palace garden. Lilith quickly and sneakily hid behind the large plants and flowers and began making her way into the halls of the palace.

On her way she heard some whispers and taps of heeled flats making her way towards her, left with no choice she climbed the nearest tree outside. Holding her breath and patiently waited until the sounds of tapping passed and eventually disappeared. 'Phew, that was close I should be more cautious of maids and knights who pass by here. But it looks like that the safe should be near here, but that's if I red the map correctly, the palaces safe should be located within 4 metres north of here.' Lilith thought calculating her next move to get into the safe, 'there's going to be two knights guarding the area with rotations with another pair every 30 minutes I believe that they should be changing any moment now so I better head there now.'

Silently tiptoeing through the desolate halls, Lilith noticed the bright moons light casting her small shadow as she tiptoed through the halls. In that moment she started to twirl and gracefully dance, her past lives memorises resurfacing as the beautiful moon's light shined on her. She had always loved learning to dance and even had to go undercover as a ballet performer during a recital for a mission and she found the experience to be so captivating.

For her mission, she had to learn ballet and she would always practice during the night when the moon shone brightly for her, her struggles and pain have always been accompanied by the moonlight and through her dance, it clearly expressed that.

As Lilith was engrossed with her dance even bringing herself to tears reminiscing she did her last leap, gracefully landing and gave a silent bow to her past life memorises before sending them off into the night with all her pain and struggle. Less than a second had passed with Lilith looking up at the moon with her glistening eyes, she gave a small smile as a tear ran down her cheek and left after whispering her goodbyes.

Wiping her tear-stained cheek and calming herself, she headed into the direction of the safe. But she wasn't prepared for what came next.

As she was waiting silently behind one of the columns that were around the corner of the safe, trying to plan a way for her to distract the guards but to her displeasure, a certain boy appeared.

"What do we have here?" Felix's calm, and confident voice came from behind Lilith. His voice was mocking her, clearly aware of what she was doing within the palace walls.

"Oh, god...why did it have to be you? And why are you in the palace?" Lilith squeaked whilst slowly turning around still clinging onto the hope that he wasn't who she thought it was.

"I'm hurt hearing that you don't want me here," Felix said dramatically, his face in despair.

"Stop joking around Felix! Your gonna get us both caught!" Lilith quietly hissed at him, clearly annoyed at his antics.

"Fine, but I don't really care. It's not like they will care if they see me." Felix said sulking, still a little upset from Lilith's words before.

"huh? Why do you say that? Are you a ghost or something...IS THAT WHY I CAN NEVER LAND A HIT ON YOU!??" Lilith accidentally yelled, but immediately Felix's hand was over her mouth. He even had the audacity to do a hush sign which turned into a smirk as he watched Lilith's face fume in anger.

"Don't look at me like that. It's not like I was the one who screamed and this should answer your question on if I'm a ghost," he said looking at his hand that was currently over Lilith's mouth.

"mm-mmhmm"

"oops," Felix says removing his hand from her mouth and cheekily smiling.

In that moment Lilith paused, looking at his smile she had to admit that Felix was a really cute boy and later will turn out to become a very handsome man when he got older. She knew that this smile was real, it was rare to see him smile, so in that moment she gave out one of her rare smiles in return.

Seeing this Felix blushed and looked away bashfully, he always acted older than his age due to being raised in a lonely environment where he couldn't trust anyone. So he grew up being an emotionless freak...well that was what many others whispered behind his back, he couldn't trust anyone besides his best friend who brought trust, loyalty, and friendship into his world but that still wasn't enough to brighten his world and make him feel alive until the day he met Lilith. She brought colour and life into his isolated and dull world of his, every moment with her he enjoyed and treasured deeply into his lonely heart.

Few seconds passed, with a growing awkward silence between the two. Until finally, Felix chose to break it, with a cough, he coolly stated "hmmm, it seems that you need to get in there. Want some help?"

"Huh? Do you think I need your help to get in there? Really, do you think I would need your help? I mean what could you do? It's not like you're part of the royal family, so what purpose could you serve in helping me?" Lilith replied mockingly and jokingly.

"Ah, well I never said that I wasn't..." Felix shrugged, taking a peek around the corner at the guards.

"...W-What! You not serious...Right? You're an actual prince!" Lilith quietly yelled shocked and dumbfounded. Not able to process how this cheeky, mischievous brat was a royal prince.

"Yeah? So what of it?" Felix replied confused, cause to him he never thought that his status really mattered. To him his status shouldn't change how he is treated, so he never saw the need to tell Lilith.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"I never saw the need to, I don't want to be treated differently just because I'm higher in status than others." Felix coldly stated with disgust, just thinking about his past experiences of other's treatment towards him due to his status made him disgusted and unpleasant.

"Oh...okay, well just remember your highness..." Lilith said with mockery before confidently saying "Just because you're a prince doesn't mean that I won't kick your butt."

"I wouldn't have it any other way, Princess." Felix gentlemanly said chuckling before ending with a wink.

'I'M ONLY 5 TODAY! AND YET HE LEARNS THIS!! HOW IS HE ONLY 8!?? WHO TAUGHT HIM TO BE THIS FLIRTATIOUS AT HIS AGE!!' Lilith mentally screamed, her composer slightly chipping away as she continued to think and contemplate.

"Anyway, Lilith. Let's make a deal. How about I'll help you distract the guards and you'll have to owe me anything I want after?" he said honestly with no other intentions but having her to owe him a favour.

"Hmmm..." Lilith replied thinking carefully, and seeing as she wasn't really at a loss she finally came to the decision of agreeing but before she could say so, he had already headed towards the guards.

"Wow that sly brat, he didn't even want my opinion oh well I guess that means I technically didn't agree nor disagree I wonder how things are going to play out..."Lilith quietly commented seeing Felix head over to the two guards.

"Your highness!" The two men saluted before asking "What may be the reason why you are here?"

"You two come help immediately! There seems to be an unknown person heading to the kitchens."

"Excuse me your highness, but are you sure that it wasn't just a maid doing her duties?"

"I'm very aware that it might have been a maid but it's who's maid was it exactly? I'm asking for your assistance, as you're both clearly aware that all the kitchen staff would have already been dismissed at this time..." He purposely left his sentence incomplete to let the guard's imagination worsen the situation and increase the chances for them to go with him.

Knowing that throughout history there were serval attempts at assassinating royalties the two guards were very cautious and decided to head over to the palaces kitchen with Felix to find out who this unauthorised person was and what were their intentions being this late out at night.

As the three made their way through the opposite hallway across from Lilith, she took the opportunity to pick-locket the safe (it's a room full of the king's most beloved treasure). It took her 2minutes to get it unlocked before steadily sneaking in. Upon seeing the mountain of gold and various treasures scattered everywhere, she noticed that the particular item she was looking for so happened to be in a locked glass cabinet at the other end of the room. Again she took to her pick-locking skills and managed to unlock the lock without to much trouble, quickly getting Lucifer to place the Affinity orb in his personal space before they got caught. As she went to the exit she sensed a strange presence watching her, but somehow she wasn't able to pinpoint where they were watching her from, confused she hurriedly left and took off back to the garden where she came from. Scaling the wall with the help of the ivy, and before flipping herself over the wall she stood and faced a certain room located in one of the tall towers further away from her, performing a graceful bow before stepping back off the wall and as she fell she flipped herself off the wall, gracefully landing.
