9 CH - 7 - Pearson

As Noah explains his reasoning for the 15th floor, realization dawns on them and dots start connecting for Beckett and Castle.

Just then an officer comes and hands Cap. Montgomery a file saying "Sir the file you asked for."

He opens it and checks the file and after confirming that they are the waivers Castle signed he hands it to Noah and says "Thanks, kid. That was a really good observation."

To which Noah says "Thank you, sir." accepts the files, says "Bye Dad" to Castle, and turns to leave for the elevator. Just then Beckett says to the Captain "Sir I will go and question the 15th-floor tenants." and follows Noah to the elevator seeing Beckett leave Castle says "Wait for me" and runs after Beckett.

[Inside the elevator]

Castle asks Noah "Did you give your Manuscript to Gina?"

"She said that she would let me know after she finishes reading it"

"Manuscript?" asks Beckett to which Castle says "Ohh ya Noah was working on a book for the last 8 months or so and he submitted it for review today."

"Congratulations. Hopefully, you are a better writer than your father" says Beckett jabbing at Castle's pride as a writer to which Castle responds by saying "And yet you are a fan" with a smug undertone.

Seeing their interaction Noah comments "You know if I didn't know you guys and saw you interact like this I would have definitely guessed married couple." right then the **TING** the elevator door opens and Noah leaves the precinct leaving behind a flabbergasted Castle and Beckett.

<An hour later.>

Noah parks his car near the Pearson Hardman firm building and walks the rest. On his way, he gets a cup of coffee enters the building walks into the building, and enters the elevator to go up to Jessica's Office.

The elevator door opens and he walks out.

Noah as he makes his way through the hallway to Reception on the wall facing his back we see <PEARSON HARDMAN> written in bold letters.

Noah walks to the receptionist and says "Mrs. Pearson's Office."

"Do you have an appointment, sir?."

"No, but she should be expecting me."

"Just a moment sir," says the receptionist and then makes a call. A few seconds later she disconnects the call turns to Noah and says "You may go in sir she is expecting you."

Noah says "Thank You" and walks to Jessica's office.

[Jessica's Office.]

We see a woman elegantly dressed sitting on the sofa reading a file. This is Jessica Lourdes Pearson, the managing partner of Pearson Hardman.

As she was reading the file she heard a knock on her glass door. She looks over to see who it is and upon seeing Noah she smiles and says "Come on in,"

"Here you go," says Noah and hands a file to her. Seeing this she asks "What is this?"

Hearing this Noah sighs and says "The papers my Dad signed. The one you asked me to bring to you personally,"

"Ohh yes, you can just keep it there," she says while smiling.

Seeing this Noah with a questioning look places the files on the table, he had already guessed that the reason he was asked to come here was not related to some papers his dad signed so he not wanting to waste time asks Jessica "Why did you call me here?. I really hope it is not to tell me that I should become a lawyer again because if it is..."

"No, it's not that though I still think you would make a great lawyer. I wanted your opinion on something"

"Mine, Why??"

"Let's just say a gut feeling of mine. Tell me what u think of this" says Jessica and hands Noah the file she was reading.

"You know that I am not one of your intern right??" asks Noah with a 'What the hell' look on his face.

Seeing this Jessica just smiles and says "Kid you are smart and levelheaded for a 16 Y.O. so much so that it is... scary. And I also know firsthand how good you are with numbers. So tell me Noah do you really think I would just call you all the way here to read some files an intern would read."

"You make a sound argument but being a skeptic is my way of life. So, let's see what you have for me here," says Noah and picks up the file.

He then started reading the file and immediately got a small jolt of surprise but tried his best to suppress it, but Jessica noticed this and smiled at Noah's attempt to hide it.

After about an hour or so Noah finished reading the 300-odd paged document inside out and then looked to Jessica who was doing something on her desktop.

Jessica noticing Noah's gaze asks "So, what do you think??"

"Do it."

"That's what I was thinking too but a few of the other partners think it is too risky as the case can swing either way. "

"Jessica this is just a suggestion but I think that instead of charging the client your usual rate I think you should handle this in such a way that you are able to build long-term times with this company. Also if possible I advise you to buy a few shares of this company. I can promise you with a great degree of certainty that you will generate more wealth with this deal than you have as a lawyer till this point in life. ."

Hearing this Jessica answers with a surprised look on her face "Hmmm. Thanks for your opinion, I for a while have been on the fence about this, so thanks for confirming my gut feeling. I still will have to discuss it with a few other people. Thanks once again." Jessica then after a pause asks " But why are you so confident, It is still just a loss-making start-up??"

"For now... It is loss-making for now" Noah says interrupting Jessica.

"Okay, but that still doesn't justify your confidence."

He then continues "It's very simple actually. Hmmm... let me put it this way what if I told you that in 6 - 8 years this loss-making startup is gonna be one of the largest companies in the world ??"

"That you are a crazy 16-year-old kid spewing bullshit."

"Hahahaha... Fine, let me give you some context to the earlier statement then maybe you will see things my way. So... for the last few years, I have been studying the art of valuations and the deeper I fell into that hole the more I realized that valuations is just a scam I lost all belief in the stock market honestly speaking it was very tough for me to when this realization hit me. But then due to some crazy serendipity, i chanced upon this lecture a certain professor was giving and it changed my POV completely. He talked about how stories play a very important role in the price a stock is trading at. Otherwise, just think about it yourself how can loss-making companies be valued at billions of dollars it doesn't make any sense until you look at the story the company is trying to tell and FACEBOOK tells the story of a new way to sell things if done right. How you might ask?? well, whenever you make an account on Facebook you are asked for certain details your mail, number, and all that stuff most people think is trivial at least, for now, apart from all that there is the information you willingly share on Facebook for the world and especially your friends to see, like, and comment on, what do you think happens if you can arrange all this data... Once you successfully start to make sense of this data you start seeing patterns like what people are liking, buying, thinking of buying, and so much more. Now we (Facebook) take this data and tell the companies around the world big and small alike that we can improve their ability to target potential customers, i.e. instead of running a national campaign that results in low sales relative to the money spent on the ad campaign we will directly target the customers who are most likely to buy your product and show them your advertisement, we will do it at a cheaper and more efficient rate than what TV stations are doing. What do you think will happen if we do that Jessica?"

Jessica took a moment to organize all the information she just received and after a bit, she smiled looked at Noah, and said "So you are telling me that here the rewards outweigh the risk so I should bet big"

"Not really, a small bet is enough after all right now what I said is just a potential story, not the most probable outcome, but a possibility indeed," I said.

To this, Jessica just smiles and goes back to reading the Facebook case file while contemplating my offer. After a while, she says "See it's things like this that make you a scary kid Noah, let me think over with a few other members of the firm."

"Sure, you asked for my view on the matter and this is my view on it the rest is up to you."

"Sure, Noah."

"Then I will take my leave Jessica if that is all."

"Yeah, that's all, Ohh, and say hi to your Dad for me will ya, and also tell him not to sign stuff without telling me."

"Sure, I will tell him you said hi as for the last part... "I just smile awkwardly

Hearing this Jessica rolls her eyes as this is something she is used to from the father-son duo both geniuses in their own right but all this comes with moments of child-like innocence. It is at moments like this that one sees how alike they are to one another.

[Noah exits the office]

[INT. HARRIS APARTMENT, LIVING ROOM - With Castle and Beckett]

Castle is looking around the apartment, while Beckett questions Diana Harris, who's entered the apartment.

DIANA answers a bit confused "I'm sorry. I'm not sure I'm following.".

BECKETT recalls that "Prior to her murder, we believe that Sara Manning was coming from this floor."

"Well, I don't know anything about that. I was at work. Maybe she came up to see Chloe?" DIANA responds.

"Chloe Richards? " questions Beckett

DIANA answers "She and Sara were friends, and our kids get together sometimes for play dates."

[Ian Harris, 38, enters from the bedroom.]

IAN asks "Hey, babe, what's goin' on? I thought you were going out."

DIANA replies "It's the police."

"Police?" questions IAN puzzled and with slight worry.

DIANA says "They think Chloe's friend Sara might've been up here the day she was killed. Wait. You were home that day, right?" recalling the day

IAN replies "Um, what-- what day was that?"

BECKETT answers "Tuesday." while looking suspiciously at IAN

IAN says "Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I was-- I was here."

BECKETT without missing a beat pressures IAN by asking "So, did you see Sara?

"I don't think so. No." answers IAN

"You don't think so?" pressures Beckett

IAN answers gathering courage "No."

CASTLE interrupts with a "Mind if I use your bathroom?"

[Beckett looks at him with a questioning gaze]

CASTLE continues ignoring the stare "People never think about that. When do cops use the bathroom?"

DIANA answers "It's right there."

CASTLE replies courteously "Thank you."

BECKETT now trying to continue her line of questioning "So... Tuesday."

IAN answers "Oh, yeah, yeah. Let me think a minute. Um..."

[Castle closes bathroom the door. Goes to the medicine cabinet. Searches. flushes. Keeps searching: and finds what he's looking for: a box of condoms. Castle re-enters the living room.]

BECKETT says "So, you're saying that you can't say one way or the other?"

IAN reaffirms "After Chloe got here to take care of Becca, I went inside to take a nap. I work most nights."

[Castle walks behind Beckett]

CASTLE (whispers) "Condoms."

[It unsettles Beckett]

BECKETT continues "And what is it that you do, Mr. Harris?"

IAN "Oh, I'm a musician."

[Castle crosses behind Beckett again.]

CASTLE (whispers) "Condoms in the bathroom."

IAN answers not so confidently "So, anyway, it's-- it's possible that Sara was up here. I just... I couldn't really say for sure."

DIANA says trying to help her husband out "You know, maybe you should talk to Chloe about this."

BECKETT says "I already have."

DIANA asks "And what did she tell you? "

[Castle takes his phone out, and surreptitiously dials a number.]

BECKETT replies "She said that she saw Sara earlier in the day, but she didn't say anything about Sara being in your apartment."

DIANA asks with a sense of suspicion "What else would she be doing up here?" while looking at her husband

[Just then in the background: the music tone from Sara Manning's cell phone.]

DIANA asks in a panic "What is that?"

CASTLE says a bit amused at the finding "That sounds like somebody's cell phone."

[Beckett looks over at Castle, knows he's up to mischief. Ian Harris is caught. His Wife realizes it now, heads into the bedroom. Diana walks around to the other side of the bed. And there's the cell phone on the floor, under the edge of the bed.]

DIANA yells "Ian, who the hell's phone is this?"
