(A/N: Sorry this is so late, I had a surprise vacation or you can say a lot of work when I was gone. Enjoy the story!)

(P.S. There will many flashbacks to D's past, each one explaining why D is D. There will be a point however when the flashback/memories are gone but not this chapter)

=========================================

Everyone continued to star at D's abnormal soul. The movement pattern of the swarm of gray shard seemed mesmerizing to them, almost hypnotizing them. Eventually Frisk snap out of her trance and pressed the check only to be immediately denied.

"*Error* No soul targeted" The system called out. Frisk grit her teeth as she thinks to herself. Next Chara wakes from her trance and instantly disappeared, leaving an empty space behind. Toriel and Flowey were the last ones to wake up. Flowey tried to attack but was blocked and attacked by Toriel's flames forcing him to leave. Before he left however, he gave one last gaze at D's shattered soul before he sinks into the ground. Toriel runs up to D and hugged his fragile body and brought him into her embrace.

"My child are you alright?" Toriel asks, D nodded in response. Toriel sighed in relief, her eyes however eyes however were still filled with confusion and worry as she stares at D's soul.

"My child... do you know why your soul has... become like this?" Toriel asks in a worried tone. D shook his head in response, even he did not know why his soul is shattered. Silence filled the ruins till a sigh broke out of Toriel's mouth.

"Well I guess we should get going now... The pie won't itself!" Toriel said, this slightly brought up the mood as Toriel carried D back to her house alongside with Frisk. The walk took 5 minutes before they finally reached Toriel's house. Toriel came to the dining/living room and placed down D on one of the chairs. D shook in fear when he was placed down however causing Toriel to frown.

"It's ok child no one is gonna harm you here" Toriel reassured, surprisingly D slightly calmed down but still shivered in fear. Toriel then entered the kitchen and came out with a large butterscotch pie. D stared warily at the pie, although he at it before it was because he was extremely hungry and he couldn't think. Now however since has a more clear mind, he is wary of the pie.

Toriel then cuts a large slice of the pie and place it on a plate infront of D. She then hands him a silver fork to D confusion. He had seen these in videogames and from his family but he never actually used one. Slowly he took the fork and stared at the pie deeply.

It had a strong scent of butterscotch and sweets, with it deep brown juicy insides with a small spiral of whipped cream on top of the pie. D couldn't hold his urges however as he slowly stabbed the fork into the pie and cut a small part. D watched intensely as it slowly entered his mouth.

"Uh... child I believe you have to take off the mask before you eat?" Toriel said. However to Everyone's shock the pie directly disappeared into the mask as if it wasn't there.

The moment it touched his tongue an influx of flavors burst in his mouth. It was somehow much better then the previous pie he ate. He dropped the fork and grabbed the pie slice with his two small hands and forced it into his mouth. His cheeks bloated as a chipmunk but D didn't care as he continued to stuff his mouth until the entire pie slice was gone.

Frisk and Toriel watches at D messy way of eating but laughs at the way his cheeks puff out through his mask. D ignore the duo as he chewed the mushed pie in his mouth. Sooner or the later the pie slice was completely eaten. Toriel placed another slice on D's plate but before D can grab it, Toriel places the dropped fork back into his hand. D stares at the fork and then at Toriel before he started to eat the next pie slice with the fork.

It was still messy however as this was the first time D ever used a fork, but he eventually got better and more comfortable with the fork. Toriel watched see notices D stopped shivering when eating her pie, bringing a smile to her face. She then puts a slice for herself and Frisk as they then eat their meal. Eventually the entire pie was eaten, 50% of it was eaten by D by himself. Toriel then took the plates and said to to the kids.

"Well I think it's time for you children to go take a nap" D and Frisk nodded, However when Frisk headed to the bedrooms, D walked towards a corner, sat down and slept. Toriel came out of the kitchen by now and seeing this she immediately picked up D who still slept. She brought him down the hall under the watch of Frisk and placed him back down on the previous red bed. she covered him with a blanket before she turned off the lights.

"Goodnight" Toriel said, she then closes the door. D subconsciously grip the soft blanket as for once in his life, he has a peaceful night of sleep.

-----------------------------*Flashback*---------------------------------

It was a cold and windy night, the cold seeped into every crack of the house, including the basement where D slept in chains. He was chained so he wouldn't be able to sneak around at night and kill them in their sleep, which D would never do.

All D wore was a ripped old shirt and short pants. The wind blew hard tonight, D could feel the rough force the wind carried as he shivered in pain. The cold was sinking into his skin as leading to frostbites throughout his entire body. D continued to barely sleep under the judgement of mother nature until the door swung open. D opened his eyes in confusion but quickly regrets it as he saw the daughter and son come in with lit andles in their hands.

"Hello dear brother! it is pretty cold tonight so we thought we could warm you up!" The sister said, the brother smirked as he took of the ripped shirt up, exposing his mutilated skin. The daughter smiled sweetly as she brought the candle above D's back. D instantly knew what their about to do and tried to tell but no sound came out. His throat and vocal cords were frozen and couldn't function properly. He could only watch as the hot melted wax of the candle slowly dripped off and landed on D's skin. D made a face filled with pain but there was only silence. The siblings giggled as they watch D twist and turn in pain.

The brother positioned the candle on the window above D so it will continue to drop on D's skin for more than an hour. Then the siblings quickly withdraw and exited the basement. D watched in helplessness and pain as they leave. The candle continued to drip on D cold back to D misfortune. Although as if god hated him, there was another strong gust of wind that blew the candle of position. The candle fell and land led on D's waxed back. The pain woke D completely up as he felt the candle slightly pierce his skin. D started to cry as the events go on, misfortune after misfortune. He quietly cried into a painfully sleep.
