The Duke's family (part 1)

( Yuuki's POV )

Kokonoe Yae, the girl we met on our way to the capital came from a place called Edo in Ishen, She was wearing a pink kimono and a pink bow that tied her long black hair. She also had a pair of katanas at her waist.

Linze: So you are on a journey to improve your skills?

Yae: That's right! Mmnn My family has trained warriors for generations mmnnn and I am on a journey to perfect my skills, I hope to one day be a great swordsman like my father and brother mmnnn.

Yae must have been very hungry because she was devouring a small feast while she told us her story.

Tsukiumi: Um your desire to become stronger is admirable.

Linze: What are you going to do now?

Yae: For now I plan to go to the capital.

Sif was pulling the carriage but no one was driving, That was not necessary, we just had to tell him our destination, I also modified the carriage to suit us so we just had to enjoy the journey and for that, Linze very thoughtfully bought a book for me that was a compilation of neutral magic.

Yuuki: Most of these are a bunch of party tricks.

Linze: Well each person with the neutral attitude has a different magic so not all of them are going to be useful.

Yuuki: Oh here and a good one!

My I read I saw a magic that immediately curled hair, not exactly useful but I definitely wanted to try it, I concentrated on the effects of the magic and I pointed my palm towards Linze and she ended up with the classic anime rich girl drill hairstyle, something that I personally like.

Yuuki: Nice! That hairstyle suits you, you look just like a noble girl.

Linze: W-what are you saying, Don't joke like that Yuuki?

I definitely wasn't joking and despite her response, she seemed somewhat happy with the compliment.

Yuuki: Gate, Open a portal to any place you've visited before, um useless.

Elze: huh? How can that be less useful than hair-curling magic?

Yuuki: Well, I already have another magic that does more or less the same thing.

I quickly tried to use that magic to open a door to our world but it didn't work, That magic is not stronger than my ability to control space and for a demonstration, I opened a portal in front of us that Sif walked through without giving it a second thought.

Elze: What was that?

Yuuki: Don't worry, we just skip a couple of meters ahead, I don't want to ruin the trip.

I pointed to the part of the road where the wheel marks disappeared but contrary to what I said, our trip was about to be interrupted.

Sif suddenly raised her nose and picked up a scent that made her run at full speed, Tsukiumi and Haruhime had no problems with it but I had to hug the other girls so they wouldn't fall out of the carriage.

Yae: What's going on?

Yuuki: Sif pick up the smell of blood, Be ready we may have a fight in front of us.

Sif left the road and at the edge of a forest I saw an elegant carriage being attacked by a group of lizardmen, Ten guards were defending the carriage but only three of them were fighting and the other seven were just bleeding out.

As soon as Sif stopped, Tsukiumi, Haruhime, and I jumped out of the carriage.

The girls attacked with [water arrows] and [fireballs] and I took a big swing with my sword, We swept away almost all the lizardmen and after us Elze and Yae jumped into action making quick work of the others, I gave them thumbs up but before we could wrap up this battle more lizardmen appeared out of nowhere.

Yuuki: Where are these guys coming from?

Several ice spikes flew over my head which killed a couple of lizardmen, then Linze came running to my side.

Linze: Yuuki over there, he's summoning the lizardmen!

Yuuki: I see summoning, Don't worry Linze, I have him in my sights.

Linze pointed me to a guy in a black hood hiding behind some trees and I quickly created a portal and threw a fist into it that came out next to the summoner hitting him in the face, With the summoner out cold we finished off the rest quickly.

Guard: Thank you very much for your help, I don't think we would have been able to get out of this if it weren't for you.

Yuuki: Don't worry about that, Haruhime will patch up the injured and then you can be on your way.

???: someone please help!!

Yuuki: Oh duty calls.

When the situation was under control out here I heard a cry for help from inside the elegant carriage and inside I saw a pretty little girl crying over the injured body of her butler.

???: Please help Leim, he has an arrow in his chest!

With a quick glance, I saw that I could help the butler so first of all I needed to calm the girl down.

Yuuki: Don't worry now that I'm here everything will be fine, I promise.

I patted the girl's head and gave her a confident smile and she stared at me while I began to treat the butler, I used my skills to make my hand intangible, carefully so as not to hurt him further, I fished out the head of the arrow and once it was out I healed his wound, In a second the butler was as good as new.

After the danger had passed the girl was all smiles and she and all her companions were showing their appreciation.

Liem: I'm sorry for the late introduction, my name is Liem, a butler in the service of Duke Ortlinde and this young lady is the daughter of Duke Sushie Urnea Ortlinde.
