8 Escape

A week has passed.

Not like a certain person would know of it as he was currently deep under the dungeon. Not knowing how much time has already passed.

That person was none other than the baby... Or the kid, rather.

As unlike how the baby looks one week ago, he now looks like a two-year-old kid.

The kid was currently sitting on the very corner of the cell. He was hugging his knees while staring into space.

His eyes were blank. Totally and completely blank that one might wonder if he was really alive or not.

But the occasional heaving of his chest was signifying that he was still breathing, and thus, still alive.

{{+1 Intelligence}}

{{Intelligence: 13}}

A prompt resounded inside the kid's mind, and with it, life also came back from his eyes.

*Gasp!*

The kid suddenly gasped as he coughed again and again. His face was full of confusion as he looked around him.

He looked down at his hands, feet and body. Only to notice that the wound and injuries he sustained was already gone.

In his memories, he remembered having his limbs twisted in a very painful way as well as his body having wounds of their own that he got from skidding through the ground.

But now... It was gone? He was confused!

Not only that, it seems like he also grew?

'What happened?' The kid confusingly thought.

Thankfully, the system answered his confusion.

{{Ding}}

{{Host, you have lost your sanity a few days ago}}

The kid remained silent.

His body froze as he tried to process what the system just said.

His brows tightened into a frown as he blinked his eyes again and again. Opening his mouth, the kid slowly asked.

"I... What?"

{{You have lost your sanity a few days ago host}}

"..."

He was speechless.

His mind was racing, trying to process the whole thing.

'I lost my sanity?... What?... How?... Why?...'. The kid thought. His expression was that of a shock as the thought of him just losing his sanity dawned upon him.

'Wait... If I lost my sanity, then why am I still capable of thinking straight now?' The kid mentally asked to himself, but then he connected all the dots and now it made all sense.

And with his thought, came the system's confirmation as it answered in his place.

{{Unconsciously, you have raised your intelligence stat host. Thus, taking your sanity back}}

'My stat... Right! My stats! System show me my Status!' He mentally ordered, and with that, came the appearance of the familiar blue-framed hologram inside his mind.

...

'My stats were now higher than I remembered'. The kid thought while slightly feeling happy knowing that he became a little bit stronger.

But a single glance at his Intelligence stat made his joyful expression crumbled.

'So I really lost my sanity a few days ago...'. He thought with a frown. Knowing that he became insane and was just brought back to sanity moments ago was too uncomfortable for him to know.

He leaned his back to the wall while rubbing his throbbing head with his small little hands.

Looking down, he could see that his body was now completely healed. He gave all the credit to his Demi-god bloodline, as according to what he know, Demi-gods heals faster than humans.

But enough of that. He looks around him and his frown immediately tightened much further as he now faced the most concerning situation that he currently have.

This dungeon.

As that thought crossed his mind, his hand bawled into fists, veins became visible on his young face and his body was visibly shaking from rage.

Deep down, he still could not believe what happened to him all along. But those painful things that he had experience were more than real enough.

Enough for him to act not like himself and let the anger control over him.

He still remembered the cruel treatment of that Amazon who threw him down here, he also remembered that very unpleasant glares of those women around him when he was just born.

And most of all, he would never forget the words that his "mother" uttered that day.

Taking a very deep breath, the kid tried to control himself back and stop himself from doing something really stupid once again.

He regretted on choosing to be reborn as an offspring of Hippolyta. He really do! But he could do nothing about that.

There would be no second chance if he die here, hell this was his second chance! The chance to become a real Hero!

'I made my mistake, then I shall learn from it!'

The young man seriously thought.

He might have been reduced to this state, but he wouldn't let this hinder him from becoming the superhero that he always wanted to be. He would take this as a challenge, and he shall overcome it.

(A/N: He's still a little bit Naive)

The kid slowly stood up as he made his way to the door. He stretched his right hand and touched the very hard and cold door.

With just a touch, he immediately knew how tough it was. With his puny strength, there's no way he could break through it and escape.

Thus, he gave up on the door for now.

Looking around him, the kid tried to inspect the room or cell that he was in.

When he first arrived here, the place was extremely dark, too dark in fact that he could not see even the floor itself.

But with time, his eyes slowly adapted on his surroundings and now he could see through the dark, albeit not too clearly.

He looked down below and noticed that the floor was made of unknown materials.

It was unknown to him because he was pretty sure that it was not your average normal cemented floor.

It might be faint, but he could feel something much more different from it.

Giving up with the idea of using the floor as his means to escape. The kid then decided to check the walls.

But it was the same. There was no way out of this place.

The kid sat down once again as he contemplated his situation much further. Now, the only way that he could think of to escape was to become much stronger.

He remembered the system saying that he could only earn points through missions and use that points to strengthen his stats and other things.

But the system never said that he could not raise his stats, abilities and skills without using points.

So maybe he could raise it on his own? He raised his own Intelligence stat after all, so he was really confident that it would work.

Nodding to himself, he decided on trying to raise his stat on his own.

But before that, he did not forget to ask his system.

'No missions system?'

No reply.

The system completely ignored him, which soured his already bad mood much further.

He was about to start training when he suddenly heard a prompt from the system.

His face lit up as his bad mood was immediately replaced by that of a joy.

...

{{Ding}}

{{Mission: Escape from Alkyone and Themyscira}}

{{Rewards: +10 Physique, +10 Dexterity, +6 Intelligence and +5 Ability Points}}

{{Punishment: Your sense of pain would be heightened two times than normal}}

...

The kid's eyes visibly brightened after seeing the rewards, but when he glance at the mission, he could not help but be confused.

'Alkyone? Who's that?'

He ignored the punishment for now as his curiosity about this Alkyone was much greater.

But his question would now be soon answered as he suddenly heard some rhythmic sound of footsteps from the distance.

His eyes widened as his face turned completely serious.

Hiding himself through the darkness, the kid thought of the mission.

'If this person is Alkyone, then all I have to do was to take her by surprise and immediately escape. Doesn't matter how hard this would be. I would escape today!' The kid resolutely thought as he prepared himself to escape.

He already lost his sanity just by staying here for a few days. So there's no way he would stay much longer and lose his sanity once again!

How could he know if he could still unconsciously raise his Intelligence stat if he lost his sanity once again? There's no way he would know! So he would not let himself stay in this shitty place anymore!

The sound from the distance was slowly getting nearer. The rhythmic sound of those footsteps were slowly becoming much more clearer to him, which makes his heart race faster.

Sweat trickled down to his face while his body was heating up as adrenaline was pumping his whole system.

Intensely staring at the door. He waited for his time to escape.

*Tap*

*Tap*

*Tap*

The footsteps were now quite literally in front of his cell. Preparing himself, the kid inhaled a mouthful of air, forcefully stopping his body from shaking.

*Creak*

The door creaked as the door was finally opened.

(A/N: Sorry for the late upload. I know I said in the last chapter that I would immediately post a new one. But something really important suddenly came up. Turns out it became an emergency as someone was sent to the hospital. Well, thankfully it was not Covid, but we're still dealing with it now. Hoping for your understanding my dear readers.)
