1 Is this the Soul Society?

'Why am I so hungry?', he feels his hunger grow as an unknown energy leaves his body at a rapid pace. His eyes open slightly as he feels his body falling, he hits a hard surface he assumes to be the ground, he sees three figures wearing garb that resembles a certain group from one of his favorite anime as he loses consciousness.

'Am I dreaming?'

Memories start to play inside his head of the last thing he remembers before waking up here:

My name is Kobi Davis and today is my 18th birthday. You would think I would be happy but I am not, because one year ago I lost everyone I cared about to a mafia-related incident. They broke into our house during my little sister's birthday party demanding we pay them back the money we owed them, when we told them we had no idea what they were talking about they put a bullet in my mother's head. My father and I snapped and lunged at the four men armed with pistols, due to our massive frames which boasted immense strength we were able to fight the men off but not without consequences. My father's massive 6'9 250lb frame had bullet holes in his chest, he bled out before the paramedics arrived. A stray bullet killed my 10yr old sister, even though I was able to escape with my life two bullets hit my right knee and that meant I would never be able to play basketball again. To make things even worse they had gotten the wrong house and the police were able to stop the operations of the mafia a few months after the incident.

That night took my family and my hoop dreams, even though I was 7'1 260lbs athletic freak of nature my knee could no longer take continuous play. So I turned the relentless passion I had for basketball towards the only two things that kept me sane while I was healing, manga and music, I had decided to become a mangaka and a musician. I possessed immense talent for both fields and an almost psychotic drive to succeed, I even decided to learn Japanese in my spare time. Life had begun to look up until this very moment, I was being mugged by what seemed to be two very trigger-happy drug addicts in an alley. I gave them all the money I had in my wallet fortunately or unfortunately my phone wasn't on me. Thinking it was over I walked towards the street so I could go to my apartment that was right around the corner until I heard a loud bang and felt a warm liquid running down my chest. I fell to the and looked at the sky and the lost thought before I blacked out was, 'God what did I do to deserve this?'.

'Wake up!'

'Wake up!'

'Is that my little sister?', I began to stir and the voice became clearer and I realised it was someone else. My eyes opened to reveal the image of a cute girl trying to shake me awake, she had blonde hair which reached her shoulders, blue eyes and a beauty spot on the left side of her face right below her mouth.

When she saw my eyes open she asked, "Are you hungry?", while holding out what I recognised as dried persimmon. I nodded and took it from her hand. I noticed that my hands seemed much smaller but I was really hungry and my head hurt so much that I didn't even pay attention to it.

"You must have spiritual energy to be able to collapse due to hunger. I know that because I have spiritual energy too.", she said in a very cheerful way.

'Spiritual energy? Why do I feel like I should know what that is?'I tried to search my memories but it only made my headache worse. I finished the persimmon and said, "Thank you so much for the food." She replied with a smile and said, "It was my pleasure."

"Rangiku!Rangiku!Rangiku! Where are you?", a voice called out. She replied saying, "Over here Gin!"

'Gin and Rangiku? Why do their names sound so familiar?'.Trying to rack my brain to figure out where I know these names from made my head hurt more. A boy ran into the clearing he had silver hair and his eyes looked like they were closed, I assumed this boy was Gin.

"Who is this?"Gin asked defensively. Rangiku replied cheerfully, "He has spiritual pressure just like us, I found him passed out in this clearing and his name is… umm?", she turned to me and asked, "What is your name?". I tried to say the name I remember before but something was telling me that it is no longer my name and I couldn't recall my new name without my head hurting so with frustration evident in my voice I said , "I can't remember."

Gin and Rangiku exchanged glances and then Rangiku said, "You can stay with us until you remember. Oh and my name is Matsumoto Rangiku and this is Ichimaru Gin. Will you follow us home?" I nodded and slowly rose to my feet and began to follow them, I was noticeably shorter than normal even though I towered over them so I assumed that either my body shrank or I was young again. Looking around we were just outside what appeared to be a traditional Japanese village so I asked , "Where are we?". Gin replied, " North Rukongai #64."

Those words seemed so familiar to me but I couldn't quite place where I had heard these words before and it frustrated me a little. After that we continued walking in silence for a few minutes and then we stopped in front of a relatively small but clean house. Gin opened the door and Rangiku stepped into the house. Gin looked back and realised I was still standing there so he smiled and said, "Come on in." :I walked inside and it felt so cosy inside it reminded me of my house when my family was still alive and I cracked a small smile for a few seconds.

Rangiku turned towards me and said, "Make yourself at home." I was about to say thank you when my eyes caught a strangely familiar reflection in the mirror and it shocked me to the core, 'This is not my body!'. The body I was in belonged to a tall fifteen year-old boy of dark complexion, deep purple eyes and black hair with white tips stylised in a hightop fade with short dreadlocks. Strangely enough I didn't panic over this new revelation and I began to accept this as my new reality very quickly, almost unnaturally so.My new name came to me at that moment, "Yokaze".

Gin asked, "What did you say?". "My name", I replied while smiling, " Yokaze Ryū. I remember now". Rangiku's face lit up in delight, it looks like she was worried that I would never remember my name.

We had a small celebration until the sun went down. I then stepped outside and for some weird reason turned to the south where I saw this massive city-like structure that looked very familiar to me,"Is this the Soul Society?". The realisation that I was in the world of Bleach and who the kids I had just spent an evening with were hit me like a ton of bricks. Right before I began to panic a feeling of determination to survive this world took over. Then I turned around to go back inside and went to sleep with a plan to make this world feel my presence.
