1 PROLOG

The cheer of the people reverberated from the town hall trough the whole kingdom, for the legendary beast has been slain by the hero.

The hero who's famous for his humble attitude yet unmatchable combat prowess, the hero who's respected and loved by the towns people and the noble alike.

Gifted with a power fit for the apex of humanity, he became a man with strength, speed, wits, and experience unrivalled through the whole world.

He's rightfulness and sense of justice garnered respect by the soldiers and the kings from the kingdoms around his.

With his unmatched wits, he solved a problem regarding a secret spell development the kingdom best magicians struggled to finish for decades.

Yet nothing last forever, even heroes. After saving the world countless times the hero finally grew old, yet something was amiss.

A witch, flying on a broom stick could be seen approaching a wooden house… disabling every defensive formations around it stealthily yet hastily. The witch landed on the front door, strapped the broom stick on her back then opened the door. A purse dangling next to her.

The witch arrived in front of a door then opened silently, but after the first step something moved fast aiming straight at the witch's face.

The witch merely grabbed it. When the witch glance at the bed there stood the aged hero drawing a sword that he hid under his pillow, the wrinkles on his face was an absolute contrast as what he was 50 years ago, a prove that nothing last forever.

The hero swung, yet the witch merely waved his hand blasting the hero away like a flower in a hurricane. Cracking the wall that he landed on.

If this was him 40 years ago he would stood up with a smirk and keep on fighting, but age did a number on our hero as he can't even muster a strength to even get up, let alone retaliate.

Looking at the hero's figure the witch lifted him up with telekinesis and lay him back on his bed.

"You've had a tough day haven't you, I wonder how you're still alive" the figure exclaimed while a spell was forming on her palm. She snapped then everything went back to place.

"Hehe… you still look young aren't you, teacher?" the hero chuckled "Even though you're already…"

*bonk* the witch cut off the hero. "I have an important business to ask of you" she exclaimed, looking exasperated.

The hero just tilted his head slightly to the left, confused.

"Do you want me to kill a legendary monster again teacher? Like the old times?" The hero asked her while maintaining eye contact, smiling gently.

The witch shook her head.

"I only wanted to give you a gift…" the witch sighed, then adopted a serious expression "One that makes you reincarnate without altering your memory"

The hero was stunned to silence.

"that sounds more like a curse than a gift, teacher." The hero tilted his head again in confusion "why do you want to give me such outrageous power, anyway?"

The witch didn't answer, she pulled out an obsidian knife from the purse that she carries then swipes it a few times.

"Because you need to see the truth," the witch said firmly, her decision was final… it was written all over her face.

"actually…" the witch muttered softly.

Yet against the hero's expectation and much to his horror the obsidian knife was stabbed straight to his chest.

After successfully stabbing her student, the witch calmly walked backward.

The hero on the other hand, was livid… he screams and attempted to remove the knife to no avail. The bed sheets he was laying on were starting to be dyed in red.

"WHY?! *Cough* Teacher… wh-why?! *Gasp*"

His attempt were becoming more eratic as he felt the mana contained inside the knife weren't small nor was it felt right.

As the mana slowly entered the hero's body, the teacher on the hand were smiling gently.

"At last I'm free… I'm sorry … and thank you"

When the word registered inside the hero's head, he saw what happened to her teacher she was literally turning to ash slowly.

Then the hero made a vow, a vow so strong, filled so much determination the world itself acknowledged him.

"Teacher, don't worry… I'll handle this burden… I will protect justice even if I have to live through a hundred life!!!" The hero screamed as the dark energy contained inside the knife finally consumed him.

"I'm sure you will" the witch dropped a single tear as her face was finally deteriorated and she turned into ash, leaving behind a witch's hat and an everlasting memory.
