9 The choice and the consequence

What would I choose? Thomas asked himself

The rain got over and Thomas finally decided to go towards the front gate after closing the door. He had no choice since his clothes were wet due to the rain.

He knocked on the door. It was opened by the little boy, he was quite sad. After seeing me he lit up.

"Uncle where were you and why were you wet?"

"Boy, I was just looking around the lawn just checking for other possibilities that might be overlooked. You know like cut fence and something along those lines."

"Wow uncle is so cool."

"I know my child. Now where is your dad?" I rubbed his hair.

"UNCLE, you should do it for yourself. I will bring a towel for you. And my dad just came out of the room a minute ago."

"The other uncle left?"

"Nope"

"Good, good. Now let's enter."

Soon both of them walked into the main hall. Everything remained the same except a man was standing in front of the window. The boy quickly went and got Thomas a towel, which he used to clean himself before moving towards the senior.

"Hello sir. Hope you don't mind me taking some of your time" Thomas asked politely with a fake smile.

"Get over with it" An angry voice replied.

With the senior's back facing him and his tone, Thomas determined that the senior is a prideful and arrogant one. He heard that the senior was jealous of his chief. As it was one of the most money earning job available in the department only second to the deputy commissioner of police. Well even though he earns less money he still was popular for successfully solving multiple cases in his youth.

Looks like this man's sight grew short and he grow old. Involving in criminal activities or people is a taboo in the police. It is a taboo he would suffer from.

"Sir, may I know why you decided to withdraw the case?"

"Humph, I only decided to do it because it is a waste of time for the police station to search for that puny little cat."(Author - HULK SOMEONE COPIED YOUR DIALOGUE.)

"Thank you sir. But since I was assigned to this case. Can you give me any sort of clue for this case?"

"If I knew I would have solved."

"Okay sir. That's all now. Thank you and have a nice day."

"All over now is it? Leaving?"

"Yes sir. Thank you everyone and have a nice day."

Thomas walked out as soon as he could without hearing any reply. But before he could open the door, he saw the boy in front of him.

"My dad wasss thee one whooo did thisss?" The boy asked while he was tearing up.

Thomas was shocked but immediately bent down so he could see the boy eye to eye.

"How do you know?"

"My dad always scolds me for asking about that cat. When I complained to the police station along with my mom, and my dad found out. He beat me and my mom." Saying this the boy pulled up his shirt. Thomas saw an ugly bruise around his lower ribcage.

Thomas controlled his anger and smiled at the boy.

"Everything is alright now. I will take care."

"Thank you uncle."

THe boy hugged Thomas for a while before he left him and went inside.

Thomas sighed and walked down the pavement towards his car.

It was a long day, Thomas thought. He even wondered whether the live he lived was full of injustice and lies or truth and justice. But what I lived I lived it in the past, with my knowledge truth will be my shield and justice will be my weapon.

Thomas entered his car and drove it close to the mansion but not too close enough for them to see him.

He waited and waited until the sun went down. He felt extremely bored so he decided to use the justice scale on the senior and that man. The first was the senior. He held the beautiful scale in both hands and imagined the senior.

Even though when he talked to him, he was facing the senior's back. He remembers the image of the senior in the memories of his past life. The scale pointer slowly moved from pure to normal to impure and it stopped there.

"Well son forgot to tell you something."

Thomas almost dropped the scale.

"YOU OLD MAN. Cant you once. Just once inform me before you say something." Thomas replied to the God

"well I don't care. You see the scale only recognize the maximum ranked level of their crime and shows the number of crimes recognized under the group. As you see there are 5 coins in one plate. And 4 in the other. You still have one more crime to figure out to give him the perfect judgement."

"Well that's simpler."

"Yes it is."

"I wonder if you made up with your wife."

Thomas didn't get a reply for a while and smirked. Hahaha too many to count will result in too many problems. It nearly applies for all cases.

Well then let's count senior's crimes

1. He beat his family up

2. Killed the cat

3. Involved in criminal activities

4. Betrayed the police station

5.???????

Just what is it? Thomas thought. After a while a bulb light up.

I should kill myself for making an elementary mistake, Thomas cried inside himself. It was simple. Lies. Pure Lies. Suddenly the question marks disappeared and...

5. Liar

It is classified as a separate one because one can quit the job and turn over to the enemies. There was no need to lie in the process but it is a betrayal.

Thomas was about to check for the sidekick before he saw that man boarding a car.

Thomas turned on the car to follow him.

A few miles after...

One can see the sidekick alighting from the car to enter a hotel in the streets of the downtown area.

In the street facing towards the hotel, the fog faded away to show a man sitting on top of the hood of his car eating some popco... nope nope nope he was eating some food while looking at silhouette of the sidekick.

"Sorry heart, it looks like I am going to follow my mind" Thomas thought.
