First Day/Class Part 2

The professor went on to explain the different aspects of mana and their elements. "The basic elements of mana found in the world are water, air, fire, earth, light and dark. Now in nature it is almost impossible to find these aspects in a pure element as most mana is in a grey area with mixed properties. For example if I were to go outside right now and look at the mana in the air I would find water, earth, fire and air all mixed together in a mess of interweaving connections. By cultivating these mana partials and refining them we break them down into their most basic form and surprisingly it's not an element but is just a mass of power after we cultivate it to its purest extent. What most people don't know is that their are different levels of purity on top of what we measure in cultivation progression." he started erasing what was on the board and began to write again.

"Mana purity levels are actually very easy to measure as the progression of purity follows a certain color pattern. Mana that has been purified just enough to use is black as you refine it you will notice that it will change to brown then blue, purple, red, orange, yellow, and then finally white. Most people focus more on the quantity and texture but pay no head to color as most falsely assume it lines up with an element they should practice."

"Let me give you a practical example a Gas stage cultivator with the purest white mana will fight to the death a solid stage cultivator with black mana. Now the white core has been at the gas stage for years, focusing on the quality of mana but the black core focused on cultivation speed and focused on advancing. Who would win in such a fight. The black core is clearly stronger in his cultivation base but the white core has the purist mana he can manage." He waited I wanted to answer but was unable to give a response, he noticed my desire and addressed me. "Little White, Who would win in this fight the Black core" he paused and shook my head no "Or the white core" I nodded eagerly, everyone else in the class looked at me funny before raising their hands with clear distain on their faces. The teacher just nodded at my response before addressing other answers.

"Yes Maxwell who would win in this fight"

The student just scoffed "Of course the one with a higher cultivation base would win as they have more power than the lower leveled gas cultivator" I shook my head don't they know such basic knowledge? Back in my world I had a class that explained medical knowledge, in case there was ever a time one of my family were to hurt we could keep them alive long enough to get proper help.

Even though I dozed for most of it, one thing stood out to me, pure extracts are always going to be stronger than hundreds of deluded product. Be it poison or potion it's the purity that makes the difference not the quantity of the product.

'If I put that wisdom here than the answer is clear to me.' the teacher finally finished receiving all the answers "Now I understand why most of you think the way you but contrary to your belief if the fight was a test a power alone the white mana core user would win every time." this started an uproar. "Now let me explain, mana purity and the level of your mana core are two sides of the same coin. Your mana core when you work on it increases the quantity of your mana, in other words it allows you to cast magic longer. However mana quality is how powerful each drop of mana is, the higher the purity the greater potential for devistation."

He made an example by creating a fire in his hand and powering it with low mana, the flame was extremely faint and flickered on and off. After he switched to the purest mana he had he was able to grow the flame to three times the size and the color went from red to blue and never flickered.

"This is a clear example of the power difference between low purity and high purity mana. Both flams used the same amount of mana with different efficiency and power."

He wiped down the chalk board and closed his work book. "Now we will continue this discussion tomorrow" he glanced outside for a moment before continuing "I think it's about time I give you something practical to work on. For the next few hours I want you to create an elemental aura around your body. For your first attempt use what ever elements you are proficient in how ever little white I want you to project a mana aura without your ice elemental affinity. To do this imagine your mana as a thin sphere or area of influence, imagine filling that space with the elements of your choice. However make sure to protect yourself from the elements, your own mana can't harm you but as you change it's element, fragments of natural mana will intermingle with your own and that mana can harm you."

I tried to do as he asked. Closing my eyes I focused on the image of a bubble around my self and a thin layer covering my body. I then tried to fill the space with pure mana but found out that my cores mana wasn't pure mana but pure ice elemental mana. I tried to reverse the process by running it through my cultivation channels. But I found out that it was my cultivation method that created the ice mana, at a loss as previous experiments with human cultivation failed to bare fruit.

"I need to gather pure mana but avoid changing it into ice" I pushed my senses from inside to outside myself, it felt like there was a barrier in place but I reinforced myself with mana and broke through the limitation. At this I saw everything and I felt like I saw the world for the first time. This however lasted for a mere moment before I coughed up blood and my sight went dark.

I woke up and opened my eyes, nothing I couldn't see anything. I tried running my mana to heal my eyes but nothing worked, I used my aura to try and enhance my body to see but again I failed. I hesitantly tried to enter the state of meditation and everything around me exploded into color, I could see everything. I saw Kana's worried face as she stared at me, I felt her fear as she watched my eyes fail to focus on anything. I saw myself and I turned my head to look at her, she was surprised but she still felt sad. Focusing I brought my focus back into my body, everything went black before color returned and my eyes regained their sight. Focusing again I brought my mental focus outside my body, seeing myself in third person was a very trippy feeling but in this way I could see the flow of mana. Looking at Kana I could see how her mana flowed in her body, how ice mana continued to collect around her, ever so slowly. I saw how the candles collected fire elements around the base of the wick and how it consumed the earth element of by using air as a catalyst to create more fire elements. I watched how the fire element changed into air as pieces of earth fell from the remnants returning to the earth. Water mana in the air interfered with the flames causing it to flicker as it filled wind toward the fire, how it melded with the earth mana below my feet and condensed way above my head.

Everything I saw was new and interesting, I felt like I stumbled onto a treasure trove of knowledge. Watching Kana's aura I looked closer, the ice aura was actually water mana condensed until it changed shape. Air came from fire, fire from earth, the earth was born of water and air eventually turned to water.

My head spun as a truth of the world was just on the tip of my tongue but try as I might I could not grasp it, I had a feeling all mana was connected elements was a state of being and not its existence. But I lost it and the feeling faded. "I wonder what that was about"

For the week I attended the professors class and learn much more about mana manipulation and cultivation. I thought this was going to continue for the entire four months but little did I know that the class was the easy part and hell waited for me soon.

When entering class on the eighth day the professor was gone, we all took out seats and waited and waited and waited. Nesrly two hours past and then the door blasted open off it's hinges and a man twice the size of the door frame enter the room. He had to squeeze inside and he even managed to crack the walls on the way in. He was massive, ripped like a body builder and hair so long it touched the floor, the uniform he wore threatening to explode at a moments notice.

"Hello class, I'm your physical education specialist." He pulled out a heavy and thick tome which in his hands might as well been a note pad. "Now the school wants me to use this as a reference," he tossed it up and ate the book. "but I'm more of a hands on teacher. From now one four out of the Seven days of the week will be dedicated to me. You will all wish you died today but as long as I'm around your in hell and you aren't allowed to die" his smile grew extremely wide "Welcome to my class, I'm Ralph nice to meet you" I audibly gulped.
