10 Chapter Nine - Beyonce, The Gems And You

A few weeks have passed and my relationship with Ancestral has improved a lot to the point that I almost always go to visit her, I try to ask her in every attempt about the gems, but something always happens and the long-awaited conversation never comes.

My friendship with the guys is an important part of my life, I go to their houses, we have sleepovers, and best of all we make jokes! Even Peter has joined in occasionally with us. I must say that the boys loved it even though they were jealous at first because they said that because we are the same age I would spend more time with him, but then they got over it.

I am 1 year away from finishing high school and my mom is overflowing with joy, The Iron Sentinels have also increased in number now my room looks like a caffeine-addicted college kid's room with Barbie's dream house included.

- "Martha, you're going to see Ancestral today," - My mother shouted from the second floor.

- "I'm coming! Emily?"

"Yes?"

- "When does Barbie come to earth?" - I asked putting away some toys in my My Little Pony backpack.

"According to SHIELD records and information collected by Miss Jane, in a couple of days."

- "Okay, and about Tony, what do you have?"

"Mr. Stark is currently developing the new element."

- "Well, I needn't worry, certainly, he'll still be alive and kicking and wowing us all with his handsome presence." - I sighed. - "We can take advantage of Dad being off duty to continue the enterprise."

"We already have the facilities and the staff. Thanks to the money raised from investors in a couple of days we'll be up and running."

- "Great!" - I squealed, clapping my hands as I ran down the stairs.

- "Ready?" - Mom asked.

- "More than ready, I'd say perfect!"

- "Where did you get that big ego?"

- "From Dad." - We both answered at the same time.

We left the house straight to the sanctuary in New York, which is close to our house.

- "Do you bring Emily with you?"

- "Always, you have her on your phone too, so we can stay connected all the time." - I smiled at her.

- "How are you doing with the company?"

- "Very well! In a couple of days, we will be able to start working, although nobody knows that I will be the director."

- "I don't quite understand how my 7-year-old daughter already has a million-dollar company."

- "Well, you raised a smart woman. And well, the sperm donor had a lot to do with it too."

- "Martha! Don't say things like that in the street!" - She said as she tapped me on the head.

- "Mom! I had a hard time combing my hair, three hours wasted!"

- "It's your fault for saying those things."

- "But it's true, according to the sexuality classes in high school there needs to be a sperm and an ovary, and you only have one of them."

- "You are 7 years old, we shouldn't be talking about sperm or ovaries." - She carried me in her arms to make the conversation more private. - "I want to see when you get your period or, as you call it, the red tide if you are still so talkative."

- "Nooooo, never! I'm still many years away from that, and I'm happy without my system feeling bad that I'm not pregnant and that's why I'm unplugging in the middle of school." - I yelled, and some students turned to look at us.

- "Shhh... I get it, we won't talk about it anymore. There will be no one to put up with you when that happens, poor your friends when your period comes." - She whispered the last thing.

- "I heard you!"

- "But what, do you want me to apologize for telling the truth?" - She smirked.

'You're using my words against me!'.

Before I could answer her, we were already in front of the door with my mom knocking waiting for someone to open.

- "Good afternoon." - A bald man with slanted eyes greeted us.

- "Emm hello..." - My mother greets me uncertainly.

- "What can I do for you?" - He asked with his expressionless face.

- .... - Mom was mute but with a small blush.

I smell love in the air.

- "Ahem. We came to see Ancestral, she was supposed to take care of me today." - I answered tenderly while my mom was still not speaking.

- "You must be Martha and you are Elise." - He pointed at us, respectively.

- "That's right." - My mother answered now.

- "Ancestral had already told me. She is upstairs but come in, and I will call her."

We entered the house, and it was as I remembered, with that old touch but without being creepy. Wong retreated up the stairs, although it would have been easier to use a portal but muggles on the wire.

- "Someone just got themselves a crush... And his name is Beyonce...." - I hummed as I took a step back.

- "I don't know what you're talking about, Martha." - She said as she turned her back to me.

- "I don't blame you, he's not ugly, but he's not my type, I'm more into brown guys." - I stuck my tongue out at her, taking advantage of the fact that she couldn't see me.

- "I may not have eyes in my back, but I know you and if I were you I'd put that tongue back inside my mouth," - She turned to look at me mockingly, - "And secondly, how come you have a type?"

- "Just like you're into bald guys, I'm into brown guys, I'm 7 years old, but that doesn't mean I'm blind."

- "That's not what I mean." - She pulled my cheeks, but without hurting me. - "I was betting that you like redheads, I just lost 20 dollars to Emily and 5 dollars to May."

"It's a pleasure betting with you Elise, unfortunately, I lost to May too."

- "What do you mean, you gamble?" - I asked confused with the talk.

- "I have a better question, why Beyonce?" - She looked at me curious.

Oops.

- "Well, I don't know, he has a Beyonce face, don't you think?" - I smiled nervously.

- "I don't know who you know as Beyonce, but they don't look anything alike."

- "Miss Elise, Martha, it's good to see you again." - Greeting Ancestral coming down the stairs.

- "Ancestral!" - I jumped in for a hug as she caught me in midair.

- "I missed you too." - She said, pulling me closer.

- "I'm glad they're okay, but the little one needs to be more careful, they could have both fallen."

- "Don't worry, Beyonce, we'd never touch the ground anyway."

- "My name is Wong, not Beyonce." - He looked at me a bit angrily, while Ancestral laughed and my mum glared at me.

- "Just Wong?... Like Adele?! Or Drake... Or Aristotle... Yes..." - I ran to Mum trying to avoid her gaze - 'I'm sorry Strange, but I just stole your joke' - I mentally laughed.

- "Anyway, Miss Ancestral I leave Martha in your care, I'll be back at 9:00 sharp." - Now she turned to look at me - "Martha, I ask you to behave yourself, and please don't get into mischief."

- "But..."

- "I love you with all my heart and more than that, but I know you perfectly well."

- "I'm not that bad!"

- "Martha, you have in your backpack right above Pinkie Pie's face a picture of the man you threw paint and glitter on." - She showed me my backpack.

- "He was an ass! And he deserved it." - I sulked and pouted.

- "I love you." - She hugged me and kissed my head. - "I'm going to see you tonight, sweetheart."

- "I will accompany you." - Said Ancestral.

And there were only two left...

- "You should behave yourself, this is not a place for children, I don't know what she was thinking about. ...."

- "I'll stay calm if you tell me about the gem of time, better known as the eye of Agamotto." - I got serious.

- "How do you know about that?" - He asked in surprise.

- "Now you know what I was thinking when he let me come over. I have to fix a few things at my company, I'll go to the living room, and don't worry I brought my toys but no paint." - I walked away from Won.

'OHHHH FOR GOD'S SAKE, I JUST TALKED TO ONE OF MY FAVORITE MARVEL CHARACTERS! WHY DIDN'T I ASK FOR AN AUTOGRAPH? GOD I WANT TO GO THERE AND HUG HIM HE LOOKS SO CUTE!!!!!'

.

- "Ancestral, Who is the girl?" - Asked Wong.

- "She is a friend of mine, don't worry." - She said in her calm voice.

- "But she knows about the Gems!" - He shouted in a whisper.

- "I know, Wong, that girl is special not only because at her young age, she is one of the smartest people in the world and already has a company almost on par with Stark Industries but also because that girl could be a key piece for the future." - She said, walking towards the little girl sitting on the sofa who was talking to her friend Emily.

Sigh. - "By the way, who is Beyonce?"

.

Wong as well as Ancestral walked towards the girl. The latter, after talking to the little girl for a few minutes, retired to continue with her work, for she was not afraid that something might happen to her, she knew she was very clever, but she still left Wong in charge of the little girl.

- "But I don't need a babysitter!" - She said, looking at the older one.

- "I know, it's for you to get to know each other better, you could even become friends with the fact that you like the same brands... And you Wong, don't worry about the library, nothing will happen if you're not there for a few hours, besides you can read here. Martha won't mind, although I must warn you she likes stories a lot." - She left, leaving a confused expression on Wong's face and a panicked one on mine.

- "What did she mean?" - He said, looking at me.

- "I don't know. - I answered nervously."

- "Well... What are you supposed to be doing?" - He said, looking at me expressionless.

'He reminds me a lot of Bella, but at least he's smiling and doesn't seem to have a frowny face like Edward.'

- "I have a company in development, and I'm finishing the last details with Emily." - I showed her the computer in front of me.

- "Who is Emily?"

- "Do you care more about who Emily is than you do about a girl being in charge of a company?"

- "Ancestral says you're smarter than Stark, and she always tells the truth. About the other thing it's just you and me here, so unless you see the dead, or I have trouble seeing there's no one else in this room."

- "Emily is my AI she is my first friend, more than that she is my family."

"I will always be by her side even in death, we will be together."

- "Who said that?" - He stood up in defense.

- "I told you, Emily is here, look." - I showed him my computer where the voice vibrations were displayed.

- "This is confusing." - He sat next to me, massaging his temples.

- "Only at first, then you get used to it." - I shrugged my shoulders to keep working.

.

After a couple of hours and a delicious cheeseburger and a Coke courtesy of Beyonce, I finished my work between silences and small conversations with my "non-babysitter".

- "Can I ask you something?"

- "You are full of questions." - He said without taking his eyes off his book.

- "I'm a Ravenclaw at heart, so I'm very curious, although according to my test, I'm a Gryffindor, but my favorite would be Slytherin."

- "What?"

I waved my hand, playing it down. - "Nothing. Could you tell me about the infinity gems and their history?"

- "How do you know about them?" - He looked at me for something to give me away, I guess.

- "If you talk, I'll talk. Deal?" - I raised my small hand in his direction.

He shook it. - "I'm sure if I don't tell you, I'll end up worse than the man in your backpack."

- "I would never do that to you, you're my friend." - I smiled at him, glad that he didn't deny what I said. - "Then start, but don't just narrate it, I want to see magic, please!"

- "Magic?" - The inexpressiveness returned.

- "And I'm the one who always asks." - I sighed. - "I know you are sorcerers and that Ancestral is the Sorceress Supreme, and when you tell me your story, I will tell you mine."

He was quiet for a few minutes, while I wondered if I had been too direct with the subject.

- "All right." - He stood up and from his hands little golden threads that looked like fairy dust began to spread around us. - "There are 6 Infinity Stones: The Mind Stone, the Power Stone, the Reality Stone, the Time Stone, the Space Stone, and the Soul Stone. - As he mentioned them, they began to appear. - "Each one of them alone is the most powerful weapon that could ever exist, but together they are capable of ending all life in existence. As the name suggests, each has a different ability." - He kept silent to see if I had any questions when I said nothing as I admired with dazzling, smiling eyes the thousands of sparks in the room, he continued, - "We sorcerers protect one of them in the eye of Agamotto, better known as the Time Stone. Only Ancestral has permission to use it."

It is said that it is impossible to touch them directly or else you will die in seconds due to their power."

- "Is it possible to use magic to activate them?"

- "The eye of Agamotto allows you to keep it safe, we don't use it because it's never good to play with time."

'Tell that to Back to the Future.'

- "But then can you or can't you?"

- "To use them it has to be in contact with your body, either by using a catalyst that allows you to absorb their energy or at the surface of your skin."

- "From what I understood, there is no record of anyone using magic to activate them without being in direct contact with it."

- "Exactly.

- "If a human uses the gems at the same time, is there any chance of saving him from death?"

- "The power would destroy his body, as I said there would be no chance of survival."

- "But what if we use magic combined with shield-like technology?"

- "I wouldn't know, but yes, it would have to be very powerful magic to be able to fight with the power of the gems."

- "Then it's possible."

- "Maybe." - He said, looking at me uncertainly.

- "Everything is possible, we are the ones who set the limits to our life and creativity." - I told him smiling while my hands played with the surrounding magic.

He just looked at me.

- "Emily, record with the camera of the laptop all this .... ALL THE MAGIC!" - I shouted happier than a politician at Christmas.

- "Kid my ears!" - Wong growled.

I laughed. - "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, but I love all this."

- "I noticed, and so did my ears."

- "Hehe... Ahem... Moving on, I have one last question."

- "Said it."

- "How does the Soul Stone work?" - I asked with confidence.

- "To get it you must pay the price, a soul for a soul."

- ".... What if, instead of a soul, something as valuable as it was given?" - I asked uncertainly.

- "It's never been tried, the rule is that a soul for a soul," - He undoes the magic and sits back down.

- "Anything is possible, Beyonce, and even if it isn't, I will see to it that it becomes possible." - I answered resolutely, even though my tone of voice made me sound adorable.

- "We'll see."

The door rang and with that, I realized that it was already dark, Mum was already here to go home.

Wong went to open the door as Ancestral came out of the kitchen.

- "I see you finally got to hear the story, even though you already knew most of the information." - She smiled warmly at me.

- "Yep, I honestly just wanted to see him use magic, I find it very beautiful, and it makes me happy to see it. It even cleared up some doubts I had."

- "It's not easy to change the future, and you know it."

- "Easy is boring, hard is fun. My dad has proved that on several occasions."

- "Or rather, he will prove it."

I grabbed my backpack and headed for the door.

- "Could I learn magic?" - I asked before I got to my mum, who was waiting at the door.

- "That depends."

- "On what?"

- "On your reason for doing it."

- "My family is and always will be my only reason."

- "So yes."

I ran to Mum and hugged her, she thanked Ancestral for taking care of me. Although it was Wong who did it, but I'd better not say anything.

We said goodbye to both of them, promising to visit them again, I hugged Wong as I waved goodbye to Ancestral.

- "Did you have fun?" - We were holding hands.

- "Too much fun! I learned a lot of things, and I've finished my schoolwork, now all that's left is to study for school."

- "I'm glad, honey, let's go home to rest and have dinner."

- "How was your job?"

- "Wonderful, my boss is not as dumb as we both thought." - We laughed. - "Daughter I was thinking that now that you are going to become the boss of a company you need to learn how to defend yourself."

- "Self-defense sounds interesting."

- "Perfect, I'll start looking for instructors."

The rest of the night was quiet, Mum, and I sat in the living room watching movies with Emily, who, although she wasn't physically with us, she was in awe of the movie and would occasionally ask questions which Mum and I answered with no problem.
