2 First Meeting

As I was wallowing in my despair of not even being able to use magic without blowing myself up I thought of how else this world differs from my own. The times were most likely around the 15th century according to knowledge from my short history phase. It was probably the time most people think of when they think medieval. When the knights had chivalry and firearms had yet to get common. Except there wasn't firearms here, I don't even know if there's gun powder or an equivalent I'll have to look into that, after all it changed the landscape of warfare for, well, ever.

As I was thinking further into the differences I noticed something else, something rather significant. The physical bodies of the people here seems to be much stronger than those of my original world. I don't mean like a little bit either I saw a man slice a fairly decent sized boulder in half, not cleanly though he was only in training. He was only in training and he managed to cut a boulder in half, amazing. I wonder if perhaps I'm that strong or rather this body is.

Busy deluding myself to thoughts of superhuman feats I nearly didn't notice than a young man that was standing in the doorway to my room. Rather I think it was a young man, they were in armor and although not full plate mail they are wearing a helmet. and I can't look to the chest area due to the chain mail and thick leather that can be seen under it.

The armor itself was or rather looked practical. The helmet seemed like a generic knight helmet and the chain mail was just that, chain mail. The persons gloves are only leather, the legs were mostly covered in leather and the boots were nothing special, perhaps they weren't high ranking enough to wear real knights armor. Scrutinizing each other I heard a rather neutral voice ask

"May I come in?"

Damn it, why do they have such a bland voice? I can't tell anything besides the fact they aren't a robot... probably. Nonetheless if they really are a robot delaying their entrance won't benefit either of us.

"Sure, however isn't it kind of rude to speak to your liege with your helmet on?" I say attempting to get their helmet off so I can discern the gender of the apparent warrior.

Simply making a kind of sigh in reply they took a few steps into the room and then turned around to shut the door. Anxious over the fact that this was actually my first time talking to some as Albert and not running through his memories I waited. After turning around they simply waited a few breaths. It was actually really nerve wracking when someone you don't really know comes into your room and tries to act mysterious

*click*

Hearing the door finally get closed I looked up with anticipation and some fear about my first actual conversation with someone in this world, and finally getting to see who exactly this was. They turned back around rather slowly, with the ruffling of the metal of their armor being the only noise it was rather unsettling. They finally started to reach up to take off their helmet.

When the helmet was finally off I was greeted with a rather neutral face. 'IS THIS PERSON SWISS OR SOMETHING WHY IS EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM SO F---ING NEUTRAL' I screamed inside at this persons lack of anything masculine or feminine. Their hair was short and a light chestnut, with what little bangs present on their forehead swept to the side. Their eyes were big and a light green with hints of a blue. They had a small nose and a rather rounded chin. There were occasional freckles on their face, like oases' in the desert.

"Pardon me my lord but I was worried about your recovery so etiquette came second" They said in a still neutral voice seemingly devoid of said worry.

"Well forget about the etiquette but who exactly are you?" I said wanting a name.

"My lord it's me Alex" they- or rather Alex said finally some emotion in their voice and with an eyebrow raised.

'Of course it's a unisex name to top it all off, if there are more people like this I might just have to start every introduction with "Hi I'm Albert, a man.", oh how fun that would be.'

"Of course I know that but why would you be worried? And why would you be the first person that I see from waking in such an event where my health needed to be worried about." I replied trying to find some info.

"M-my lord you don't remember?!" Alex's voice a mixture of concern and doubt, though not too much "You were sick for the twelve days and your consciousness would come and go seemingly at random. If you were going to be sick for any longer Lord Regent Walter was going to ask the Church of Aesculapius for a priest and the Royal Court to spare a Court Mage or two to help you."

"Ah yes of course." I stated matter-of-fact like.

However I didn't recall any such thing. In fact I realized that I probably missed those days of memories, not just for Albert but probably my previous self as well. I push it to the back of my mind though, it was most likely Albert's last moments anyway not something I need involve myself in.

"However that doesn't answer my question of why the first person I see upon awakening is you and not my regent, Walter." I say really wanting them to give me something to grasp onto as to their gender.

"Sir I am Alex- Alex Rocker, your personal knight and attendant. Daughter of Knight Ruel Rocker the very same that--"

"Stop" I interrupted her needing no further info.

So this is the first woman I meet in this world. I suppose she's kind of cute in a tomboyish sort of way. Perhaps I'm thinking way too deeply about who the first person I meet in this world- this body.

"Why is your hair so short that's not ladylike at all~." I say to tease Alex.

"Tha-"

"Well your femininity aside I need to speak with Walter about what exactly happened. Go get the doctor as well we want to make sure I'm actually alright and this isn't an oddity." I interrupt her before she can answer.

"Yes Sir" Alex responds.

As she turns around I can see a light blush on her face 'She'll be fun to tease~" I think to myself finding amusement at her apparent embarrassment about her short hair.

"Actually please come with me sir." Alex speaks catching me off guard.

"Why?" I respond looking up and not wanting to get up from my rather comfy bed.

"Well the doctor isn't exactly... well I just don't like speaking to her alone and the Lord Regent is... far too intimidating for me too handle alone." She says while twiddling her thumbs.

It's rather strange seeing a woman in armor twiddling her thumbs and looking to the side. Especially when they're holding their helmet and there's a sword on their side.

'WAIT WhAt a sWOrd?! How did I not notice earlier? What if she was her to assassinate me?!' I think, even panic for a bit before worrying about my future well being.

Well actually it isn't too surprising I mean she's in full armor, why wouldn't she have a sword. It was tucked into the side of her belt in a small loop and it was put kind of behind her leg. It wasn't very thick, maybe two and a half fingers?

"Ahem" Alex clears her throat bringing my attention back to her.

"Alright, alright let me just get dressed." I end with a sigh.

I wanted to explore this place a little anyway, after all seeing it in person and through memories should be rather different right? Plus what's the worse that can happen starting a little bit earlier than I planned.
