71 Atlantis (16)

*Supes_POV*

Orvax's body along with his armor was dissolved by the surrounding lava in seconds, it gave me flashbacks of Lex. Shaking those images away I proceed to the royal box with people cheering behind me.

I ignore the two Kings and go straight to Atlanna who kisses me passionately, but we are interrupted by Reverend Mother Cetea who informs me that I should get ready for the consequent ceremonies.

I excuse the attendees and follow her, I hear Vulko requesting for people to proceed to the ceremonial hall, where the marriage will be held.

I look back at the old lady I am following, Mother Cetea, the current leader of The Widowhood, wearing her weird purple nun outfit. The Widowhood is the organization for grooming the King's bride to be in her future role as queen, if they consider the bride to be unfit they can even cancel the marriage until they are satisfied.

It's members consisted entirely of widows whose husbands died in the war. Mother Cetea is the oldest and wisest among them. Though their responsibilities look limited, over the years their power inside the palace has increased substantially.

They are also the most loyal out of everyone towards me, as though they believe in the old Atlantean customs, their belief over the Sea god Poseidon trumps that.

I was taken to a chamber where there were the widows ready with my clothes. I did tell them my request yesterday and I was happy that they completed it perfectly.

I got ready in my new suit and went with them towards the hall. There was a big white Scallop shell with golden edges in the middle of a raised platform. This looked more like an open Amphitheatre with how the seats were arranged.

I got to know that only the high borns were allowed a seat and all the normal public were outside the hall watching the proceedings via the large screens.

Atlanna and I came out of opposite sides of the hall and proceeded to the platform. I was wearing the golden-green Aquaman suit, but I had asked the widowhood to make a special white Cape for me with a golden S on it.

Atlanna whispered to me that this new look suited me way better. I just smiled at her as I was already lost in my own thoughts from the moment I saw her walking towards me.

She did not change her looks nor her clothes, I just saw her an hour ago, but I felt that at this moment she was the most beautiful. I hadn't stopped to ponder or spared much thought to marriage, but right now time seemed to stop for me, taking me back to all those lonely nights where I slept alone, where I felt alone, dreaming about my future bride.

We both stood under the shell with reverend Cetea, asking us to repeat after her.

Atlanna looked at me and I looked at her, it felt like we were the only two people present. When I held her soft white hands in mine, I knew that all this was real, that I wasn't just dreaming this on my bed, that I won't be alone anymore and from now on this beautiful blonde would be my life partner, my wife.

As Mother Cetea pronounced us husband and wife, Atlanna threw herself at me hanging by my neck kissing me deeply, I held her waist and closed my eyes tuning everything out and just enjoyed this moment and this kiss.

After which we were taken to the throne room for my coronation. I and Atlanna swam the whole way hand in hand from the hall to the royal palace, with guards surrounding us and people cheering and following us.

Inside the hall, there were even lesser seats with only the top brass and the guests from the other countries present. There was a tall white stone throne at the end of the hall.

As we reached the throne, I slammed my Trident on the ground. The Trident flashed golden and the throne split and reformed into two. There were gasps of surprise from around the hall but I ignored them all and proceeded to sit on my throne with Atlanna sitting happily beside me on a similar throne.

Vulko came with a tray in hand with two crowns on it. Mother Cetea signaled a widow who picked the smaller crown and came by Atlanna's side respectfully. Mother Cetea herself took the bigger crown and came to my side.

"With the Sea God Poseidon as a witness, I crown Superman and Atlanna as the King and Queen of Atlantis" She puts the crown on my head, "All Hail the King and Queen!"

As people were shouting I felt a tremor in the Trident. I look up, outside the palace, outside Atlantis, outside the seas, far in Canada, in a small remote fisherman village, on the top of a lighthouse by its railings, an old white-haired man was standing and staring straight at me.

I could see in his ocean blue eyes that he could see me perfectly, feeling the connection I speak to him, "So you are still alive, the sea god Poseidon."

He smiles at me, "I am just an old man now, who passes his time fishing" I could hear the tiredness in his voice, he takes back his vision and goes back inside "Use it responsibly young child"

I take back my vision and grip my Trident tightly and then release it with a sigh, ignoring the old man for now. I look at the still excited audience and lift my Trident making them peaceful.

I take Atlanna's hand and we both stand up. With the golden crowns and golden Tridents in our hand, we both had an air of royalty making all the people look in awe.

"I promised you that as the King of Atlantis, I will bring you prosperity. As my first step, I will find and reunite the lost Kingdoms and with our new allies we will restore the broken Atlantis once again."
