67 Atlantis (12)

Even if I wanted to see it with my connection, all I could see was the intensely bright light. I tried to feel around it, and I found numerous connections like mine joined to it.

I tried to grab the bright white light nearby and use it on my connection, to strengthen it. It worked and now I could see and feel more clearly.

I kept doing it until I could see beyond the white light. There was a transparent cocoon and inside it slept a white being. It looked like the exact replica of Groot, only totally white.

It looked like an overgrown baby sleeping while hugging its legs in its mother's womb. I couldn't tell it's exact size but it wasn't overly large. There were numerous white roots like things that were attached from its body to the cocoon.

I observed that the roots which were connected to the cocoon branched off into numerous connections like mine. They were closely knit and far too many to count or even make sense of.

This being was the source of all life, it came to this universe and slept inside the earth giving birth to all the life in the universe. It also gave life to all the different entities of the emotional spectrum.

Those connections should be the life force it shares with the universe and the white light surrounding the cocoon, the life force itself. I tried to sense the amount of life force the being had with my connection.

Suddenly all I could see was white and then I blanked out. As I woke up my head was buzzing and I could hear Karathen making some noise, but I couldn't understand her at all.

Seeing red water in front of my eyes, I realized I was lying on the floor. I touched my nose and confirmed that it's bleeding. I just close my eyes thinking I shouldn't have tried to feel all of it at once.

But remembering the amount of life force I felt before my senses were overloaded and the connection severed, I got a sense of how vast the universe is, how vast and powerful life itself is, it was really a humbling and mystical experience.

I could feel the Trident lying beside me, I hold it in my hand and it flashes golden and I instantly feel better. The connection between me and the Trident is way stronger than before, I think it's because of me manipulating and understanding a bit of that white energy which was life force itself.

I get up and talk with Karathen, who tells me that I lost the trident from my hand and just collapsed suddenly. She kept calling me until I woke up. I reassured her that everything was fine and told her that I am going out for a while.

Remembering Atlaan, I thought of how I can let her hold the trident for a while to awaken the latent gene in her body, as that is a passive function of the Trident.

Obviously she would not be able to benefit as much as I did. I am the current master of this Trident and unless I die or I forcefully sever the bond between the trident and me, it won't change hands.

But maybe I will be able to use the trident to activate some specific gene in someone's body. This needs further testing and I need to study Atlantean biology too in the future.

I swim up and notice that I may have increased my speed even more as I don't even feel any difference between air and water while I hold my trident. I reached out of the lake and could feel Atlanna still sitting on the same spot in her white skinsuit staring at the waterfall.

First I used the transformation of the Trident and then went out. Seeing me come out of the waterfall she raced towards me giving me a strong hug.

"Why did it take such a long time for you to come out? … You know how worried I was?", She said while inspecting if I was injured.

"Sorry Atlanna, I couldn't find the Trident of Neptune, all I found was this sword.", I said faking a sad voice and showing her the golden sword.

She looked at the sword and then back at me, going very quiet and I could see her face go pale. She hugged me very tightly like she wanted to melt inside me,"If I can't marry you, I don't wanna go back." She said in broken words while sobbing in my chest.

As I was about to tell her, she looks up at me with her eyes filled with determination, "Let's stay here Clark, no one would be able to find us here ... We can live our whole life here, just the two of us.", Atlanna says with a happy smile.

I could feel her every emotion clearly through the link, the sadness, the grief, the hopelessness, followed by resolution, happiness, and love.

I felt very touched looking at the tear eyed silly blonde girl's smile. I tell her slowly and clearly while wiping her tears away, "Even if I hadn't found the Trident, no one could take you away from me ... not even the entire army of Atlantis."

"You mean you found it?", Atlanna yells shocked.

I smile mysteriously at her and shove the sword in her hand. She looks at me puzzled, I then use my connection to activate the transformation.

First, the sword splits into two prongs at the side and then the hilt extends fully, transforming it into the Trident.

"Is this?" Atlanna looks shocked at the transformed golden Trident in her hand.

"Yes, this is the fabled, Trident of Neptune.", I tell her with a smile.

"Does that mean?" She looks at me with hope.

"Yes, we are going to Atlantis."
