14 Chapter 12: Freedom and an army

Previous chapter

One year ago

Back in the pocket dimension that Poseidon and his sibling were stuck in nine years ago. They all surrounded Poseidon as he poured his divinity into the air.

"Are you sure this is going to work, Poseidon?"

"Are you doubting me, Regina?"

Poseidon asked the cat-eared girl.

"Well, no, but still it seems unre-"

*Whirl*

A blue tear appeared where Poseidon was pouring his divinity.

"You were saying? Now..... let's leave this hell hole."

...................

As Poseidon's siblings and Regina stepped through the portal, they felt a weird feeling rising in their stomach as if their bodies wanted to expel all the food that they consumed only a few hours ago. But, unlike them, Poseidon felt at peace and relaxed going through the portal, similar to how someone would feel lying in their bed.

*Whirl* *Tweet* *Tweet*

Exiting the confines of the portal, the group of six heard the energetic sound of nature escaping from the forest that stared down at from atop a cliff.

"Beautiful."

All of them except Poseidon voiced as they viewed the lush greenery of the forest along with the energetic animals that occasionally crossed their sight. But it wasn't just the forest that left them stunned; the very warmth of the sun that shined upon their skin brought them an unimaginable.

"This, it's wonderful."

Hestia seemed unable to hold back her awe as she voiced her opinion and everyone agreed with her, even Poseidon, who tried to hide it under his stoic expression. Even though it's not his first time seeing a forest or feeling the sun on his skin, albeit it has been a while, it felt different than it did in his previous world. For one, the air smelt fresher, and it didn't feel as if there was a blazing inferno right beside him, searing his skin. Neither were the animals homeless nor did it seem that there was a shortage due to deforestation.

'Humans really messed up, didn't we…they? I can't forget that I'm not one of them anymore.'

"I can't believe that we were missing out on this all these years."

Hera decided to break the contented silence between everyone. "Neither do I, sister. I'm mortified to think that we lived a life of fear and entrapment while we could've been enjoying this glorious world simply because of the greed of our father." Demeter responded, not missing a chance to take a jab at Kronos's fantastic parenting skills.

*Sniff* *Sniff*

Regina started sniffing as an unknown, but an enchanting smell caught her whiff. Looking closely at the forest, she could smell the scent getting more substantial. That's when she saw a beautiful brown coated deer peaking its head out.

Without a second to spare, she got ready to take off down the cliff to chase her prey. Unfortunately for her, before she could move an inch, she got lifted in the air by the back of her neck. "Where do you think you're going?" Turning her around, Poseidon looked straight into her eyes and asked.

Looking towards where the deer is, Poseidon followed her eyesight, and he immediately knew what was happening. "No." Poseidon gave her a resolute answer, and to this, Regina's ears flapped down at the side of her head while holding her head down.

Though the Nemean lion lioness? She wasn't one to give up easily; without bringing up her head, she scrunched her eyebrows and stared into Poseidon's eyes with her own golden ones that were filled with tears. 'Tch, this damn cat.'

Poseidon cursed in his mind as he stared into her eyes, not having the strength to turn away. This wasn't the first time Regina has done this, so Poseidon should have expected it, but he still fell prey to it another millionth time.

"Tch, fine, but be back before dark and don't get lost. Or you're not getting any belly rub tonight." Poseidon stated to her as he released her; before leaving, Regina gave him a tight hug then took off on her hands and feet without even turning into her most reliable form.

The remaining five decided to leave the cliff and explore the forest while going through it, and they couldn't help but be amazed by the scenery. All of them unconsciously agreed to stay silent and watch, but one of their curiosity got the better of them.

"Brother, how were you able to bring us here?" Of course, this person was Hades requesting to know the inner workings of Poseidon's abilities. His sisters also seemed to be curious about this since Poseidon only told them about his water, vibration, and weather manipulation.

'Of course, you'd want to know, and here I thought I'd get away without explaining anything.' "It's a relatively simple ability that I used my divinity to accomplish." This was a blatant lie; while it is possible to use divinity to teleport, Poseidon didn't do this. He just used his space manipulation to create a portal.

"Can I lea-"

Cutting Hades off simply because he knew what he was going to asked Poseidon answered him. "Yes, you can learn it as well, and I'll teach you after we settle down."

"Settle down? We should attack Kronos immediately while we have the element of surprise!?" Hera asked a bit too loud, which sent the animals scattering.

A frustrated look appeared on Poseidon's face as he heard his sister's suggestion. "Are you an idiot, Hera? No, forget I asked that; let me ask you this. What is Kronos?" Poseidon asked her, a bit demeaning.

"Hmph, Kronos is our father and the King of Titans," Hera answered, obviously proud of it.

"Yes, and what is a king?"

"A king is someone who rules." She answered him once again in her haughty attitude.

"What do they rule specifically?"

"A kingdom."

"Exactly, Hera, and what does every kingdom have? An army! And our father explicitly has an army of titans. Do you think you can take on a whole army of titan Hera?"

Hera frowned at this; she knew they couldn't take on an army of titans. But even after nine years of being together, she would never admit that Poseidon is right. "So, what are we going to do?" Demeter asked the question that her sister was too proud to ask.

"It's quite simple; we're going to get an army of our own."

"How are we going to do that." Hades was puzzled by Poseidon's declaration and couldn't help but ask how they would achieve something like that.

"Don't worry about that. I'll take care of it." While this left Hades and his sisters uneasy, they've learned that Poseidon tends to have a way of getting around problems.

..................

A few hours later, when night finally fell, everyone except Poseidon was currently resting. He walked through the forest while the hooting of owls and the chirping of crickets went off around him. But none of this seemed to take him out of his contemplation within his mind.

*Swish* *Crash*

While the forest wasn't able to distract Poseidon, the crash of the waves on the shore's beautiful white sand seemed to have done the trick. "Will it even work? Don't I have to become the ruler of the sea first? Well, technically, I already am since I could feel my connection with the oceans the minute I arrived here. This would suggest that even before the original Poseidon, Hades, and Zeus drew the straws in Greek mythology, it was already predestined what they would rule over because of their affinities. So no matter how many times we drew the straws over, even if we picked the same straw that the other took previously, it's simply going to change to our affinity."

"*Sigh* well, there's no way I'll know unless I try."

Poseidon convinced himself to do whatever he would as he walked towards the ocean and allowed the waves to take him away. It didn't take long for Poseidon to reach more than four hundred feet underwater. Which to a human and other creatures might have looked like nothing more than a dark tunnel, but to Poseidon, it seemed as bright as day with the coral reefs' colors being enhanced that they looked like a beautifully painted picture. The sea was bursting with life, and Poseidon couldn't help but admire its beauty.

When Poseidon reached an area he deemed suitable; he closed his eyes cleared his mind, and focused on the sea currents and the sea life. After only a few minutes, Poseidon could feel, see, and command almost everything in the ocean. Then, his striking blue eyes became blindingly bright as glowing blue markings started forming on his chest, stomach, and hands. Poseidon's figure was simply great no; in a better phrase, it is godly.

Not long after Poseidon's awakening, sea creatures such as the killer whale, blue whale, humpback whale, and the sperm whale started surrounding him, but unlike their modern-day counterparts sizes, they were almost two times that. However, that wasn't the end of it, as a vicious monster half the size of the blue whale arrived as well. It was the sea monster that almost all modern-day people would fear on Poseidon's previous earth, the Megalodon.

Opening his eyes, Poseidon saw the line-up creatures and was content with them. "Now to make them stronger." Massive pulses of divinity were released from him as pieces of flesh, pool blood, and bones were taken from his body; these didn't even take a second to heal.

As his bones, flesh, blood, and divinity met the creature's body, they started to glow in all sorts of colors as their bodies shrunk. The sea and lands started raging as whirlpools were created, colossal lightning bolts fell from the sky, and the lands began to shake. When the creature's glowing stopped, so did the disasters. What was left of the animals were unnaturally beautiful humanoid figures that would make those elves of Poseidon's previous world look like complete and utterly disgusting beings.

"MY KING!!" They all said in unison as they bowed their heads to Poseidon.
