2 Ch.2 Betrayal (Part-2)

Adam walked through various narrow alleyways instead of going back to his house as he forgot something important to get.

"I can't just propose to her without those." He realised how dumb he was but luckily he realised early and would be able to make that moment even more special.

After going through various alleyways, he finally got out and arrived in front of the main road filled with various kinds of shops like cafes, restaurants and such.

"It should be… there." After looking around he finally found the flower shop he was looking for which was on the opposite side of the road and decided to walk towards the pedestrian crossing a little bit away from him.

Just as he arrived at the pedestrian crossing, he saw the light was still red so he decided to wait, looking around he could see some high schoolers, a young woman with her two kids and a grandma carrying a heavy bag.

Without any second thought, he walked towards the grandma and crouched a bit to meet her eyes, "Miss let me carry it for you if you are having any troubles."

The old woman looked up towards the voice and saw a young handsome blonde man crouching in front of her, realising what he said she nodded without hesitation and gave the large bag to him with a smile.

"Haha, thank you. It is so rare to have such a kind young man nowadays." After giving him the bag she calmed her breathing as carrying such a bag had made her pretty tired and her old age was not helping.

"I can't just leave such a young woman carrying something this heavy." He remarked while feeling surprised that the bag was lighter than he expected, while the grandma laughed at his compliments.

"Haha, thanks for your compliment and sorry for making you carry something that heavy."

"Oh don't worry, it's pretty light for me and I can easily carry it to your home if you want." He said without hesitation that helping someone is as important as the proposal he planned earlier.

"Don't worry, my house is just right across this road so you won't have to carry that bag for a long time." She said while pointing towards the flower shop across the road. where he was initially headed.

Looking at where she pointed to, a huge smile appeared on Adam as he realised that everything was going great today.

"Looks like our destination is the same." He said while laughing as the light turned green and they started heading towards the other side.

"Oh, you are getting flowers for somebody? Hmm, let me guess, your lover maybe?" She couldn't help but be curious about it.

"How did you realise that?" He was surprised by her deduction as she immediately guessed the answer while the old lady couldn't help but laugh while looking at his surprised face.

"Most of the young people who get flowers for their lover have the same expression as you." She replied with a giggle as they reached towards the opposite side.

"Oh, was that obvious?" Adam couldn't help but scratch the back of his head while feeling a little shy as he didn't think it was that obvious, 'I guess it can't be helped after all.'

"It is the same with all the men, it is the same with my husband too, he looked so happy and excited when he proposed to me." The grandma reminisces about her past with a smile on her face while laughing occasionally.

Adam couldn't help but smile while looking at her and thinking about his and her old age in future.

"Oh looks like we are here, let me call my son. You can put the bag on the ground now." She said as they appeared in front of the shop and with great vigour shouted a name, "Jacob!!!"

Just after that, a loud running noise was heard and a middle-aged man in his 40s appeared in front of them with a look of hurry.

"Mom, you are here already? You should have called me when you arrived at the station, I would have used a car to pick you up."

"Don't worry son, your mum is pretty strong and it's a good exercise too." She said while showing her non-existent biceps with a smile on her face.

"But still…"

"Don't worry about me, anyway take the bag to my room and I will attend to the customer for now." She said while pointing towards her bag and then towards Adam.

"If you say so, oh also thanks, man." With a smile, he picked up the bag and before turning around, he thanked Adam and went inside.

"Your son cares about you? Doesn't he?" He couldn't help but ask with a smile as their relationship looked so good and it kinda made him jealous.

"Haha, that's true even though he is a little dumb, he loves me a lot." She said while looking at his back with loving eyes but she snapped out of it and looked towards Adam, "Anyway pick yourself a flower for her."

Adam looked around the shop and found various kinds of flowers but he couldn't decide between any of them as all of them looked so beautiful.

"I guess the red roses would do?" Even though he found all the flowers good, he decided to go with the basics as he couldn't choose between any of them.

"Hmm it's not bad but it's just lacking." She said as she looked around the shop and after a while, she picked out some white flowers and red roses.

"You are proposing to her right?"

While curious about the white flower in her hands, he decided to answer her first as she looked at him with a serious expression, "Yeah definitely."

"Oh, then white orchids will be perfect with red roses." She said with a smile as she started making a bouquet of those flowers while he looked at her with a curious expression.

"Ohhh why white orchids tho?" He knew about red roses but he never saw someone use white orchids with them to propose, 'Well it's not like I know much about those stuff anyway.'

"These flowers signify a new beginning so think of it as my blessing so you can succeed."

Hearing those words, he couldn't help but feel happy as he looked at her while she focused back on the bouquet making, 'I should not bother her.'

Minutes passed with her working on the bouquet while Adam looked at the work curiously.

"It's done, here." She then gave him a beautiful boutique that genuinely smashed his expectations, "Thanks a lot miss."

"Haha, no need for thanks just make sure to succeed."

"I sure will also, how much will that be for?" He asked while looking at the bouquet with a huge smile on his face.

"Oh don't worry about that, think of it as a gift from me." She said while waving her hands as she didn't feel like taking money from this young man.

"But still-"

"Don't worry about it, instead be sure to come to this shop next time with your wife."

Hearing her words, he couldn't help but feel excited thinking about her as his wife so he nodded his head excitedly, "I sure will."

"Anyway you should get going now, also good luck." She said while pointing towards the clock and giving a thumbs up.

"Ah yes, cya later and thanks a lot." He said in a hurry while running towards the final destination which was their home.
