1 Ch.1 Betrayal (Part-1)

"..r Adam." Suddenly Adam heard a female voice calling him and looking around he realised where he was, 'Fuck I fell asleep.'

Looking towards the voice, he could see a brunette middle-aged woman in a suit and skirt looking down at him, sleeping on the sofa in the reception.

"Sir Adam, your order has been done. You may now pick it off from our counter." Looking at the time, he realised it took an hour more than he expected but at least it was complete.

"Sorry for the delay sir, as our jeweller was stuck in traffic, it took longer than we expected so for compensation we have given you a 20% discount."

'Ohh she is professional.' Realising that he got a discount, he was elated but even more from the completion as the special moment was so close.

"Thank you for your service." Standing up, he thanked her as she helped him a lot when he first came to this shop and then started walking towards the counter to get what he came here for.

Suddenly he felt a tap on his shoulder and looking behind, he could see the woman standing there with a smile on her face.

"Good luck and hope you succeed." She motivated me with a thumbs up while the other employees behind her also put a thumbs up towards me.

"Thank you all and I will succeed." With enthusiasm, I bowed towards them and then happily walked towards the counter.

Reaching the counter, I could see Rachel, a young blond woman in her 20 sitting there typing something on the computer.

"Oh hey Adam, you're finally here. Here, take this ring and check if the size is alright now?" Just as I arrived at the counter, she noticed me and then gave me a small jewellery box and watched me with enthusiasm.

"Shouldn't you be focusing on the thing you were busy with earlier?" I couldn't help but ask as she seemed somewhat stressed earlier while looking at the computer.

"Ahh don't worry as it's nothing big and can be solved in minutes by me, and I am more interested in this." With a nonchalant look, she denied my concerns and looked at me with a smile.

"If you say so."

Without wasting any time, I opened the box to see the diamond ring that I bought last week looking a tad bit smaller, 'Looking good.'

Taking it out of the box, he tried to put it in his pinky finger as her ring finger was the same size, "Yup it fit perfectly."

The moment it fit, he couldn't help but be excited as it was gonna be on her hand soon and they would be officially together.

Suddenly he realised that Rachel was watching him and came out of his stupor, and looking towards her she was giggling while looking at him.

"You look pretty cute while excited aren't you? But anyway I hope you will succeed." Realising so many people were wishing for their success, he couldn't help but be happy as he still remembered the rough start of their relationship.

"Thanks and I will be sure to invite you to my engagement party." He told her that she has helped him a lot since he first came here as he is honestly very clueless and would have faced a lot more trouble without her.

"I sure will and thanks for everything." With a smile tried to take out his wallet when she suddenly stopped him midway.

"Ahh, you can pay later as I am sure you are more excited to meet her and can't wait." Somehow she realised my feelings and that couldn't help but make me happy as I wanted to meet her right away if I could.

"Thank you very much and I will make sure to invite you first after we have planned everything." With thanks, I started to put the ring back in the box while she giggled at my words.

"No need to do all that, just remember to introduce me to one of your friends who is single as a relationship seems pretty fun."

"Oh yeah it is but I don't think I would need to do that as a cute girl like you can easily find a boyfriend." I said that genuinely as she is one of the most beautiful girls I've ever met but she is still behind her, 'Well nobody can beat her.'

"Hehe! Aren't you pretty good with flattery?" She replied with a giggle when she suddenly remembered something, "Oh yeah I forgot about the bag, lemme me just got one for you."

"Don't need to do that as it will just take more time." He didn't feel like waiting for the bag and it could make the surprise somewhat obvious too, so he decided to forgo it.

"If you say so, anyway cya later and remember to shop more here." She waved at me with a smile and went back to the computer screen.

"I will be sure to, and cya too." With a smile, I started walking towards the exit when I remembered something and ran back towards her.

Just as I arrived towards her, she was startled by my running noises but when she noticed me, her expression calmed down.

"Did you forget something?" She looked at me with a curious expression as I rummaged through my pocket to take something out.

"Here take this." Taking the thing out of my pocket, I gave it to her as she looked at the item and me alternatively with a confused expression.

"What's this chocolate for?"

"Oh it's dark chocolate, and it helps you with stress so be sure to eat it." I gave her the chocolate I had saved for later as I was pretty indebted to her.

"Eh… how?" She looked even more confused by my answer but I couldn't afford to stay any longer as it was already getting pretty late.

"It was pretty obvious and good luck with work." With those last words, I ran out of my shop and towards my destination but suddenly stopped as I remembered something and decided to take a detour.
