108 Why does it have to be Snakes?

Mizuki's gaze remained focused, as Hime reported what she had heard from her position.

The technique of using summons in order to gather intelligence was a rare one, as remarkably few summons had the intelligence to communicate with their summoners.

Most were similar to Sasuke's eagle, which he summoned in his battle with Danzo.

Lacking in intelligence, and can only respond too general commands.

Mizuki thought of this plan thinking of a certain Toad Sage, and his infiltration skills, which were considered among the best in the Shinobi World.

Even using this strategy, most of the finer details of Kumo's plans alluded her, such as which angle they were going to be entering from, or the amount of shinobi entering, although she was still able to get the gist of what they were saying.

Mizuki: "I see, so they are planning to have Doton users infiltrate in order to try to take us by surprise."

Mizuki: "A shame we don't know how many"

Hime: "Sorry bout that, I couldn't hear many of the details"

Mizuki: "It's fine, knowledge of the ambush is already super helpful."

Mizuki: "Anyways, I need to come up with a strategy..."

Mizuki: "Neko, Guy!"

Neko: "Yeah"

Guy: "Yes Mizuki!"

Mizuki: "We have doton users trying to take us by surprise"

Hearing this information, the two of them quickly shared a look before turning back too face Mizuki.

Neko: "You are sure?"

Mizuki: "Yea. Hime told me."

Neko: "Hime?"

Guy: "His familiar summon."

Neko: "Do you happen to know how many there are? Or perhaps where they are coming from? It would go a long way if we can collapse the rooms which they plan to enter from in advance."

Mizuki: "I wish. We were lucky enough already to figure out their strategy before hand."

Guy: "Yea! WE must let our power of youth explode!"

Neko: "Ok. . . now, time for a plan of action"

. . . . .

Samui and the remaining Kumo Ninja, a force of around ten high ranking chunin and Tokubetsu Jonin, all were standing in front of the actual entrance to the laboratory.

Spread out in a large fan like formation in front of the entrance to prevent any chance of escape.

Having learned from their previous mistakes, the shinobi were all positioned on branches a dozen odd meters above the ground, not risking being hit by the doton techniques of the enemy shinobi.

They were not the attacking force in this particular plan, for they had but one objective.

Their main force would break into the caves and collapse the structure, allowing just enough time for the group to escape.

And, as they heroically "escaped" out of the entrance of the lab, they would be left with the group before them. Ready to complete their tasks.

Much akin to fish in a barrel, the trio of shinobi which had been so elusive to them up too this point would be gone.

And the nation which perpetrated this, brought to justice.

However, this was all working under the assumption that everything would go all according to plan.

Things did not go according to Plan.

. . . . . .

The group of Doton users had been digging for going on fifteen minutes now.

They had to be extra sure to dig in an incredibly careful and deliberate manner.

After all, one of their opponents was clearly incredibly skilled in his usage of Doton.

If he detected what they were up too, it would be incredibly easy for him to collapse the tunnels that they were using and flea.

Mind you, such a strategy would be suicidal considering how easily it would give away his position.

Yet still, they wanted to catch them by surprise, and hopefully alive.

Oh, how the Interrogation Squad would love to break three enemy spies.

Extracting Jutsu after Jutsu and every single scrap of information that they could get from them.

They had decided to have six entry teams, each consisting of a couple of Doton Users to deal with the collapsing of the structure itself, and a few others too complete other objectives.

Capturing the shinobi alive if possible, retrieving any lost documents, or even recovering the research being undertaken by the Fuinjutsu users themselves.

Another five minutes passed, and the teams all were at the ready to begin the operation.

Similar to Konoha, Kumo also had some clans with specialized Hiden, one of which heavily resembled the Yamanaka Clan, which Kumo used to link the minds of their shinobi together.

Samui: {Begin.}

Upon her words, the thin walls of rock separating the lab from those seeking to enter it were shattered, as the shinobi emerged from their tunnels.

"Clear"

"Clear"

"Clear"

Room after room, the groups of Kumo-nin entered, and failed too see, any intruders.

They saw the aftermath of what had occured.

Dead Fuinjutsu specialists.

Broken cabinets.

The absence of anything having to do remotely with Fuinjutsu.

And yet, there was no intruders.

Finally, all of the rooms were cleared, leaving only one.

The main lobby, or the first room after the entrance.

The now united group of over 40 shinobi rushed into the lobby only to be greeted to a site which many of them would never forget for the rest of their lives.

Paper bombs were scattered across the entire room, with the enemy having clearly used the remainder of their supply.

A collapsed tunnel was also there, clear evidence that they had escaped through the Doton User creating a tunnel.

Finally, there was a message, written as a little note, directly across from the entrance.

"By my efflux of deep crimson, topple this white world!"[2]

The words themselves made no sense to any of the Shinobi, and yet, Mabui was tipped off as to what was about to occur by the subtle yet distinct hissing sound before her.

The Sound of Paper bombs.

Mabui: "Everybody Run!"

*BOOM*

[1] This one is just here to thank you guys for being patient with me. The past couple of weeks have been a massive pain in the ass for all of us, and you guys have honestly just been super nice about it. So Thanks. As a reward, you may have my dinner. Just this once. B-B-Baka.

[2] One Megumin's Explosion chants. I chose the shortest one bc I didn't want to waste anybody's time.
