7 Meeting the Uchiha

In a completely out of character action, Mizuki was actually able to wake up at a decent time for once in his life.

Realizing that he had fallen asleep studying at his desk, Mizuki let out a mild chuckle.

How long had it been since Mizuki had fallen asleep while studying. 5 years? 10? Probably longer.

Regardless, he found himself being nostalgic about his old world.

He didn't have any living family and although he had friends, there was nobody who he was particularly close with.

Shaking his head, Mizuki quickly got dressed in a pair of fresh clothes that he had purchased a couple of days prior, standard blue shinobi sandals with short dark blue pants accompanying them with bandages tied around his ankles.

He wore a standard, grey shinobi shirt under armour shirt and his outfit was completed with a white jacket which he left undone, with sleeves rolling up to his elbows. The cuffs of his sleeves and insides of his jacket were black.

Smiling at his reflection in the washroom mirror, Mizuki had a quick breakfast of cup noodles and rushing out the door, although not before muttering an iconic movie quote in his head to himself.

Mizuki: "Looking Good Mortimer"

The Sun was only just beginning to rise, giving Mizuki a couple hours to practice before his academy classes start.

Arriving at the Academy Training Grounds in just over five minutes, with the sun slowly rising higher in the sky, Mizuki got to work.

Although the Academy wasn't teaching them hutsu yet, they did include how to perform the jutsu in the textbooks.

(A/N: hutsu are the jutsu used by the legendary shinobi of the village hidden in the pizza hut.)

As the only requirement for graduation to being assigned to a jonin is to master an E rank technique and pass a written test, there were only E rank jutsu recorded in the textbook.

Only recently did Mizuki realize how few E rank jutsu existed. The book that they were all given only provided three. The Clone Jutsu, Transformation Jutsu, and Substitution Jutsu

Currently, Mizuki decided that he should focus his attention on the Substitution Jutsu as it was the most useful one to him currently.

Weaving the required hand signs at a relatively quick pace, Mizuki realized that absolutely nothing happened, he had focused his chakra wrong.

Shaking his head in disappointment, Mizuki tried again.

And again.

And again.

This process repeated for nearly a whole half hour before, at last, Mizuki had some success.

He suddenly sped up as where his body was not a second earlier was replaced by a log in a puff of smoke.

Whilst Mizuki was able to technically perform the Jutsu, he was nowhere near proficient at it. Continuing to practice the jutsu for another fifteen minutes, Mizuki felt his proficiency with it rise.

Now, whilst he was nowhere near the level of the Average Shinobi, or even the Average Genin, he was still not to far behind.

And he believed that if he kept practicing, he would be able to master the jutsu before the end of the week.

Unfortunately for Mizuki though, all of the practice that he was doing drained his chakra to dangerously low levels.

If Mizuki were to perform the jutsu one more time, he was positive that he would collapse.

Leaning against a tree and sitting down, Mizuki took a bottle of water and a biscuit out of his bag, snarfing them both back in under thirty seconds.

Just as he finished his "meal", Mizuki was leaning on the tree and about to get up when he heard a voice behind him.

???: "What you doing here Mizuki?"

The silver haired boy was clearly startled, jumping back to see one of his classmates, sitting at the top of the tree, staring back at him with his curious gaze. Shisui.

Mizuki: "HOW DID YOU EVEN GET THERE??"

Mizuki asked with a fake tone of surprise in his voice.

After all, he can't confess to knowing way more about him then he reasonably should now could he.

Jumping out of the tree, back flipping on the way down before landing perfectly, he turned to face his classmate and let loose a smirk.

Shisui: "I just used The Body Flicker Technique"

Shisui said in a relatively casual tone of voice.

Mizuki: "B-Body What?"

Mizuki asked with fake confusion

Shisui looked at him, his smirk never leaving his face as he looked at Mizuki, clearly trying to figure him out.

Shisui: "You don't really think your little charade could fool me, did you?"

Shisui replied, before pausing to look directly at Mizuki.

Surprised, Mizuki's gaze turned to match Shisui's.

Although when it did his planned reaction evaporated like it never existed. Staring back at him, was a pair of Sharingan.

There goes his plans of playing the fool to his whole class as he slowly gathered strength and info over his academy years.

Mizuki: "Shit"

Mizuki muttered under his breath.

Sighing to himself for what felt like the millionth time, Mizuki didn't even try to hide it from the boy in front of him.

He may be a good actor, sure.

But mere acting skill wouldn't do shit in front of one of the most powerful kekkei genkai ever.

Even in early Naruto, that thing was way too fucking busted.

Shisui: "So you know about the Sharingan?"

Asked Shisui, his tone of voice betraying a slight curiosity.

Mizuki: "Sure do."

Replied Mizuki, his voice lacking the false positivity that it contained when he was putting up an act.

Shisui, clearly not expecting such a direct answer, turn to look at Mizuki with a intrigued stare, again, as if trying to figure out what would make him tick.

After inspecting his classmate carefully for a couple more seconds, Shisui was even more surprised when he saw his classmate break out in laughter.

Mizuki: "It's not like I can hurt you, why are you so cautious?"

Asked Mizuki in an amused tone of voice.

Shisui continued to look at Mizuki, not being able to find anything that would suggest otherwise.

Mizuki: "Want somethin' to eat?"

Asked Mizuki casually, pulling another biscuit out of his bag

Shisui: "Oh boy, would I ever, I'm starving after training!"

Shisui instantly went from ruthless interrogator to standard child instantaneously, causing a faint chuckle from Mizuki.

After finishing his biscuit, Shisui and Mizuki continued to talk to one another. Although the conversation started to move from an interrogation to a light hearted chat.

Another forty minutes passed just like this before the boys glanced down to see that students were slowly gathering around the building.

The two boys turned to face one another and nodded in unison before bursting out in laughter. After taking a minute to compose themselves, they got up and went to class.

Making it five minutes before the bell rang and taking seats next to one another at the back of the class.

Hearing the bell ring, Mizuki glanced up with a new sense of positivity in his gaze, only to see his instructor entering the room.

He had made his first friend.

Not one that required acting like Iruka, nor one who was only his friend because of his previous personas acting, but an actual companion.

Smiling to himself, Mizuki got ready to start the day.
