34 Chapter 34: The Abengers Part 7 

*MC POV*

All of a sudden, completely out of my expectations, Hitogami's arm which I was clinging on, was cut off slightly below the elbow.

"Nani?!"

Shocked, I dropped to the ground while clutching the severed arm.

I tried to reach out and grab the "disarmed" screaming Hitogami to continue electrocuting him, but I was blocked by Tate's barrier.

"Damn-"

*Thud*

My cursing was interrupted when a bloody invisible knife stabbed me in the chest. Thankfully, it was blocked by my trench coat, though a deep cut was left where it hit.

Like a mirage, Natsumi appeared in front of me after her assassination attempt failed.

I tried to blast her away with a non-lethal Thunderbolt but a barrier protected her.

"Sorry Archer! Natsumi's quirk let's her perfectly blend in with her surroundings. I lost track of her and didn't think she'd go after you." Rojiya apologized after realizing what happened.

Looks like she had used her quirk to go invisible, disengage from the fight with Rojiya, sever Hitogami's arm with her unbelievably sharp knife to "help" him escape, and then try to stab me with it to kill me…

Well in the end, Hitogami did end up escaping my grasp, though not fully.

I swung Hitogami's severed arm at Natsumi in self-defense. Unexpectedly, it wasn't blocked by a barrier and I managed to land a hit on her with my impromptu club.

It wasn't a heavy hit because I didn't put my all into the swing, but it did make her stop for a fraction of a second. I used that moment to jump back and put some distance between us.

"It's fine, Rojiya! Get Hitogami!"

"Yeah!" Rojiya replied before heroically throwing the sewer manhole cover at the fleeing Hitogami.

Unfortunately, it was blocked by Tate's barrier.

"What a broken quirk." I spoke out loud to let others know of my thoughts on Tate.

Natsumi came after me again. She used her quirk and disappeared from my view. I couldn't even sense her with Electroreception!

I hastily cast Electric Shield over myself which I had deactivated earlier to allow Hitogami to touch me.

He had already scurried back to Tate's side while screaming murder and cursing at me and Natsumi.

*Bzzt*

Natsumi appeared behind me, having tried to stab me in the back but was instead blocked and shocked by my Electric Shield.

She was paralyzed for a moment and I attempted to do a leg sweep to knock her down, but it was my turn to be blocked by a barrier. It felt like I kicked a brick wall, and the pain made me stand still for a moment.

Natsumi and I recovered from our short paralysis at the same time. I swung Hitogami's arm but she jumped back and dodged it before once again disappearing.

"Need help?" Rojiya asked after retrieving his shield.

"No, go help Tetsu!" I told him.

I didn't want Rojiya to get caught up in what I was about to do.

"You sure? Actually, nevermind. From what you've shown so far, you can take care of yourself just fine. However, please try not to kill our gang member, yeah?"

Ugh. What he suggested was easier said than done.

I gathered electricity in my right thumb and middle finger and then snapped.

"[Thunder Pulse]!"

Waves of electricity spread out with me at the epicenter after I snapped my fingers.

I figured that if I couldn't see my opponent, then I should do an area of effect attack in her general direction to find her.

The area around me was covered in electricity except for a place a few meters to my right.

"Found you! [Lightning Cage]!"

I controlled the electricity I had released to gather and surround that area that was being protected by Tate's barrier.

It took a few seconds for me to do so, and Natsumi had thrown her knife towards my head during that time. It bounced off my Electric Shield and fell to the floor.

With that last move of hers, she was now trapped behind a layer of electricity. It constantly ate at Tate's barrier until finally...

*Shatter*

"Ahhhhh!"

The barrier shattered and Natsumi was engulfed in my Lightning Cage. She screamed before becoming unconscious and I stopped my move from doing any further harm to her.

With Natsumi out of the way, I surveyed my surroundings.

Haruhisa had started helping other members of his gang after Oz took out his gorilla opponent.

Tetsu and Rojiya were being bashed by Souji's hammer, but they didn't suffer much due to their high defenses. They haven't been able to land a solid hit on Souji due to Tate's support.

Hitogami and Tate had been arguing with each other about something, and Oz was attacking and trying to kill them with no luck due to the barrier protecting them.

'Oz! Status report.'

'My Lady! The enemy leader wishes to flee and the barrier man wishes to stay to prevent anyone from chasing after him. However, the leader refuses to leave without him and they have been arguing about this.'

'I see. How goes the offensive?'

'Through my observations, the barrier man can only keep three barriers up at any time. Four if you count the silencing barrier. I have been unable to break through and am running low on energy.'

'Same... Alright. I have a plan.'

I mentally explained my plan to Oz while running over to Hitogami and Tate. By the time I finished explaining, I was ten meters away and Oz started flying towards Souji.

"Someone, kill her!" Hitogami screamed upon seeing my approach.

"There's no time left boss! DO IT!" Tate yelled at Hitogami.

With extreme reluctance, Hitogami touched Tate with his remaining arm.

"I order you to use everything you have to buy me enough time to escape! EVERYTHING!" Hitogami said through gritted teeth to the now mind controlled Tate.

Instantly, a thick four-layer barrier appeared between me and them.

Hitogami glared at me with intense hatred. If looks could kill, I would be dead several times over.

After that final glare, Hitogami turned and ran towards the exit of the warehouse.

I soon arrived at the newly formed barrier. It completely blocked any path leading towards Hitogami's escape path.

Looking to the side, I noticed blood leaking out from Tate's orifices as he stayed in his position with his hands on the ground.

Ignoring him, I yelled towards Hitogami.

"Hey! You forgot something!"

Winding up, I threw Hitogami's arm, which I had been carrying all this time, towards the fleeing Hitogami.

As I expected, Tate allows Hitogami to go through his barriers unhindered, so the arm I threw easily bypassed the four-layer barrier.

With insane luck, the arm got caught in between his legs and Hitogami fell to the ground.

"Yes!"

'My Lady!'

Right on cue, Oz who I instructed to go to Souji and absorb his electricity to recharge energy, unsummoned and the energy he had transferred back to me.

I took a deep breath and brought my hands together by my hip.

"I always wanted to try to do this… Kaaaaaaaa-"

A purple ball of electricity started to form between my hands.

"Meeeeeeee-"

The purple color got deeper as I compressed the electricity while putting in more Energy.

"Haaaaaaaa Meeeeeeee-"

Hitogami hurriedly got up and continued to run.

Bringing my hands forward, I fired off my Kameha- *cough* my beefed-up Thunderbolt towards Hitogami.

"HAAAAAAAAAA!"

A purple column of electricity exploded from my hands, piercing through the first and second barrier.

It caused the third barrier to crack and after a moment, it broke through that one too before stopping on the last barrier.

I continuously poured more Energy into my Thunderbolt to keep the stream going.

"POWER! UNNNLIMITED POWERRRRR!"

It increased in size and the fourth barrier started to crack. Despite what I said earlier, I started to feel a headache as my limited energy dropped.

Just as my Thunderbolt was about to pierce through...

"PROTECT ME, TATE!"

As a last-ditch effort, Hitogami commanded Tate to save him.

Tate immediately lifted his hands off the ground and jumped in front of my attack. He tried to use his own body to shield Hitogami.

Unfortunately, it was all in vain.

I poured all my remaining Energy into my attack.

Since Tate removed his hands from the ground, his barriers disappeared and my Thunderbolt gushed forward unhindered.

I took a final glance at Tate who was loyal until the end. It's unfortunate that he chose the wrong guy to follow.

My Thunderbolt went through his chest before coming out his back.

"NOOOOOOO!" Hitogami let out his final death throe as my Thunderbolt hit him in the back and punched through his chest.

It continued forward, piercing through the wall of the warehouse and out into Tokyo Bay.

Oops. That might catch some unwanted attention.

"Phew..." I let out a breath I was unconsciously holding.

"Double kill. Hah." I let out a small joke to distract myself from the numbing migraine I was experiencing.

Tetsu and Rojiya managed to knock out Souji who no longer had protection. Seeing that I got Hitogami, they let out a cheer but I couldn't make out what they were saying due to a sound ringing in my ears.

"Sorry. I might have gone a bit overboard…" I said towards them as we watched Tate and Hitogami fall to the floor.

Feeling the pain from Energy depletion, I wanted to just lie down and wait for my Energy to recover.

*Puchi*

Before I could lie down, I felt a sharp pain in my chest.

Fading into existence, Natsumi appeared in front of me. When did she get back up?!

Her hand held a knife that was now sticking out of my chest.

She had struck the same place on my chest as she did earlier and managed to pierce through my coat.

I had no Energy left to keep my Electric Shield up and only realized this now.

I looked at Natsumi's eyes and they still looked glazed over. She must have still been following Hitogami's last command to kill me.

*Ding Ding Ding*

As if to mock my negligence, I heard the level up notices from my system indicating that Hitogami and Tate finally died.

I saw a look of clarity appear on Natsumi's eyes before it quickly turned into a look of panic.

*Cough*

I tried to say something but only managed to cough out a mouthful of blood.

There was a feeling of blood filling up my lungs before the pain finally started to register in my brain.

Ah, this hurts! Getting stabbed sucks! Dying of dehydration wasn't as bad as this shit!

My Health points were rapidly draining as shown on my status.

"KID!"

"ARCHER!"

I could barely hear Tetsu and Rojiya's shouting as my short life flashed before my eyes.

I don't want to die… I just got my new character… I haven't even fully leveled it up yet…

Those were my last thoughts before everything turned dark and I blacked out.

A/N:

And that is why you DOUBLE TAP. A lesson MC has now learned.

I had to rewrite this chapter so many times because I'm so bad at fight scenes.

I felt bad about leaving a cliffhanger on the last chapter, so here's another one to make up for it. BWAHAHAHAHA!

I didn't want to write about the clean-up of this war so I had the MC go to sleep for a bit.

Next chapter will have an explanation of why MC will be hard to permanently kill.
