Chapter 14: An almost blast from the past?

*Third Person POV*

In the middle of the night, Kirari once again returned to the sewers to grind while also testing out her new mod setup.

This was her favorite time to grind because the sewer creatures become more active at night.

She ran through the passages in her modified shoes that she called 'Nightwalker' and Mei called 'my cute baby number four'.

Thanks to them, her steps barely made any noise.

*Swish swish swish*

Rapidly fired arrows flew through the air and hit their targets that were over 200 meters away.

Kirari had extraordinary marksmanship thanks to her Fischl character.

The first shot that hit a rat scared the others into fleeing randomly.

Yet, as if she had predicted the future, each of her following shots accurately hit them.

None could escape once they were locked on to by Kirari's sharp eyes that she had trained over the years to see with minimal light.

Once the ones she failed to see entered her skill's range, a simple thundershock took care of them.

The thing that took up most of her time while running and gunning through the sewers was collecting all the metal arrows she fired.

"Once I figure out how to use Electromaster to do electromagnetism, I won't have to worry about these anymore."

Kirari used a bow to hit things that were out of her skill range.

It also helped in training her concentration, reflexes, and even grinding her physical stat before it was maxed.

After killing another rat with an arrow she fired from her Amos bow, she checked the time and found that her hunting speed was slower compared to her previous mod setup.

"Hmm. As expected my hunting speed dropped. Oh well. Only five levels left anyway. I'd be more concerned if I had something else to level up…" She said to herself, hinting at her irritation of still not having unlocked anything after Electromaster.

Looking at the barely noticeable green shade indicating the pitiful amount of exp on her exp bar, she could only sigh.

She noticed she had been doing that a lot lately.

"At this rate, I might need to exterminate all rats in Japan before I can max out Fischl." Kirari exaggerated.

*Thud*

Just then, she heard a dull noise that echoed through the sewers.

"Hmm? What was that?"

*Thud thud*

Curious of the sound, Kirari tried to locate the source. With her keen senses, she soon found it.

*THUD THUD*

"It seems to be coming from here..."

The noise was coming from behind a wall at one of the dead ends that Kirari must have passed by hundreds of times already.

She took out a flashlight that she brought along and examined the wall.

*THUD CRRRK*

As she examined the wall, a crack suddenly appeared, causing her to jump back a bit.

"What the- …Wait. This smell… methane?!"

As the thudding noises continued and the cracks on the wall spread, the smell of methane gas grew stronger.

Kirari did not know the exact concentration of methane that was needed to cause an explosion, but she didn't want to take the risk so she immediately stopped using Electromaster for anything and put away her flashlight in case it caused a spark.

*BOOM*

A loud sound echoed when the wall was blasted apart by something that was not an explosion.

Kirari backed up and evaded the debris as the strong smell of methane invaded her nostrils.

"It's a good thing Spiky isn't here, otherwise the place would have blasted off to space. Hm?"

Kirari noticed a figure pop up from the debris.

'It was probably the one that broke down the wall.' She thought, raising her guard.

As the dust started to settle, the figure became more clear to Kirari.

Her face that was full of caution and curiosity, turned pale.

"It- it can't be! How can you be here?!"

Memories of a past traumatic experience surfaced in her head as the figure finally came into view.

Even with the low amount of light, Kirari could see it clearly.

She would never forget that figure.

"I thought this was the MHA world. As far as I know, this world shouldn't have…"

The figure that was slightly taller than her looked towards her position and upon seeing her, it made a sickening smile with its sharp teeth.

Looking at its pointy ears, dirty loincloth, and stocky figure caused Kirari to shudder.

"Goblins."

"Raaa!"

When she uttered that word, the goblin shouted and jumped at her, trying to tackle her down like a hungry predator.

Kirari hurriedly dodged to the side and pulled out an arrow from her pocket quiver.

Loading it on Amos bow, she turned and pointed it at the goblin who just got up and was ready to pounce once again.

Seeing the goblin's disgusting face at a close distance made her recall her trauma.

She resisted the urge to generate rainbows from her mouth as she knew of the danger she was in.

Unfortunately, her hand still shook a bit before she released the arrow.

The originally aimed headshot instead hit the goblin's right shoulder.

The goblin was barely affected.

It shrugged off the arrow like nothing and tried to punch Kirari.

She quickly ducked under the arm and did a leg sweep, causing the goblin to fall and its punch hit the concrete floor.

Kirari gasped at the crack the fist made.

"Oh Dio, it's not a normal goblin. It's jacked AF! No wonder it could break down the wall."

Pulling out another arrow, Kirari tried to shoot it again.

But the goblin rolled at the last second, making her miss her shot.

She pulled out one more arrow but it recovered too fast and jumped towards her.

Kirari hurriedly placed her Amos bow horizontally in front of her.

She successfully blocked the goblin's arms from reaching her.

But the weight of the goblin caused her eight-year-old frame to be knocked down with the goblin on top of her.

"Raaa!"

"Aaahh!"

The goblin tried to bite her nose off which freaked Kirari out causing her to scream.

She took the arrow in her hand that she wasn't able to shoot earlier and stabbed the goblin in the eye.

The familiar stabbing sensation caused Kirari to shudder and weaken, making her lower her arms and bringing the goblin's face closer to hers.

Something she hoped was just blood spurted from the goblin's wound onto her face.

Kirari did not feel pain or a tingling sensation so the blood was thankfully not corrosive or acidic.

"RAAAAA!"

Angered at the loss of one of its eyes, the goblin roared and reached its neck forward attempting to chomp Kirari again.

She desperately wanted to use thundershock to kill and be done with this thing, but the methane prevented her from doing so.

She didn't want to explode and double suicide with a goblin for Dio's sake!

She tilted her head to the side and the goblin's teeth sunk into the concrete, biting off a chunk and crushing it to bits.

Horrified at the thought of her head almost being in the position of that piece of concrete, Kirari used the goblin's forward momentum from the bite to push it to the side.

She let go of her Amos bow and managed to slip out from underneath the goblin.

Immediately, she nimbly mounted on its back.

Once she was there, she finally noticed something that looked like an exposed brain on the back of the goblin's head.

A creature from MHA with a similar feature entered her mind.

"Nomu! So you aren't a goblin!"

Like something clicked in her head, Kirari's expression changed.

Gamer's Mind, which had been keeping her from breaking down all this time due to her past life trauma, finally took full effect.

With a cold look on her face, Kirari took out three metal arrows from her pocket quiver, holding them like a certain wolverine superhero.

The goblin Nomu struggled, but before it could do anything, Kirari mercilessly stabbed the three arrows deep into its exposed brain.

Unlike the Nomu from the anime, this one didn't seem to have super regeneration.

With a final twitch of its body, the Nomu stopped moving and became motionless.

Seeing this, Kirari relaxed a bit but remained on guard.

*Huff huff*

She took deep breaths and tried to calm her racing heart.

To confirm its death, she did what every normal gamer would do. She checked her experience bar.

Kirari blinked twice at what she saw.

"This is…"

Chapter End.

A/N: Random fight out of nowhere! Or is it? Kinda short but I didn't want to extend a minor fight too long.

I had to restrict Kirari's skill otherwise it would have been a quick and easy fight.

On a side note, I got C4 Zhongli thanks to the primos and free pulls from the event!

Come on C5! Come home!

Creation is hard, cheer me up!
