11 Carelessness

(Shirou's pov)

2 months have passed since I defeated berserker and nothing major have occured. I continued my training in the woods but today something unexpected happened. While I was absorbed by my daily routine someone was observing me behind the woods.

That person was Nanami Moriyama. If I remember correctly she has younger sister who is Illya's friend. She is very kind and apparently has crush on me.

Nanami: "Huh?

Shit, I was careless how did I not notice her. What is she doing here anyway. Try to act normal.

Shirou: "Hello Moriyama-san, fancy seeing you here."

She looks at me strangely as I try to change the topic.

Nanami: "Shirou-kun, explain what was that just now."

She smiles at me but that smile was not the kind one. What is she expecting, that I'll tell her all my secrets?

Shirou: "Is there a option where you don't ask any questions, forget what you saw here and we go our separate ways?"

I know that she will drill answers out of me but a man can hope.

Nanami just looks at me with crossed arms.

(Nanami's pov)

I was walking in the woods trying to find some frogs and conquer my fears of them. I wouldn't need to that if not for Rin and Luvia. I get angry as I recall these events.

After my search for frogs I realised that I got lost. Just my luck.

In the distance I hear some noises. Hoping for finding someone I go in that direction but I didn't expect to meet Shirou-kun of all people.

It seems that he does some sort of sword training. He uses two short swords. One is black and the other is white.

I don't think he noticed me so I instinctively hid behind the nearest tree. I'm little curious why he trains here of all places and from where he got these weapons. They look very valuable so I don't think he bought them.

After he was done with his practice, the two sword disappeared from his hands

Nanami: "Huh?"

Shirou-kun then turns his head in my direction. He looks suprised but quickly recovers his composure.

Shirou: "Hello Moriyama-san, fancy seeing you here."

He tries to act as if nothing has happened but I won't allow that.

Nanami: "Shirou-kun, explain what was that just now."

Shirou-kun thinks deeply about his option.

Shirou: "Is there a option where you don't ask any questions, forget what you saw here and we go our separate ways?"

At his question I just cross my arms and look at him showing that I won't allow no for an answer.

He sighs and scratches the back of his head.

Shirou: "So how much have you seen?"

Nanami: "I saw you training with two short swords and them disappearing."

I answer truthfully.

Nanami: "What was that, how did you make your swords vanish and why are you training in these woods?"

Shirou: "Whoa, whoa, calm down. One question at the time."

Shirou-kun looks troubled by all my questions.

Shirou: "Let's start with the first question. The thing I use is called magecraft and it's something similar to magic, I used it to make my sword vanish from my hands and I'm training here so one will notice what I'm doing. Does it answer you questions?"

I look at Shirou-kun in disbelief. He just said that magic is real and he can use it.

I look at him excited.

Nanami: "Does it mean I can use magic?"

I'm certain that my eyes sparkles as I ask him. What girl didn't dream about being magical girl.

Shirou: "I don't know if you have aptitude to become a magus and I don't have ability to check it but even if I could I wouldn't let you be one."

Shirou-kun says that with seriousness in his eyes.

Nanami: "Why not?"

Shirou: "It's not safe to become a magus. There are a lot of dangers around every corner if you don't have necessary backing behind you and you can die any moment. And don't call it magic it's magecraft. There is big difference between the two."

Nanami: "What about you then, Shirou-kun? If it's as dangerous as you say, why are you one and why are you still training. Would it not be safer to ignore that side and just live a normal life?"

At my words he smiles at me gently and pats my head.

Shirou: "There are still things u need to take care of and some people to protect but if you are worrying about me then don't. I may not look like that but I'm quite strong myself."

While saying all that he didn't stop patting my head. Is he treating me as a child? But I must admit it's not a bad feeling to be patted by the person you love.

Shirou: "By the way Nanami-san, what are you doing here."

Ah, I completely forgot that I got lost after that shocking revelation about magic or as i should call it magecraft.

Nanami: "To be honest i was taking a walk in these woods and after some time I realised I was lost. While looking for a way back I heard some noises. Hoping to find someone I followed said noises and..."

Shirou: "...And these noises were created by my training."

Shirou-kun sighs again.

Shirou: "Come with me, I know the way back."

I happily follow Shirou-kun. It's almost like a date. Just the two of us in the forest walking next to each other. Maybe I should try to hold his hand.

Shirou: "...an ...ami-san... Nanami-san."

I wake up from my fantasies.

Nanami: "What is it Shirou-kun?

Shirou: "I just want to remind you that you mustn't tell anyone about what you saw today."

Nanami: "Of course I won't tell anyone about it and even if I did who would believe me."

Shirou: "You would be suprised. I know at least two people who would be shocked by your information."

Nanami: "Does it mean that there also magi in our school?"

Shirou: "Yes, there are so please don't blubber it out by accident and keep it a secret.

I will keep it a secret alright. How can I let such a opportunity slip through my fingers. Having secret between us can let me be closer to him and it can have even bigger affect of I'm the only one knowing the secret. Just thinking about it makes me ecstatic, hehehe.
