Chapter 3

[Chapter 3]

Chelsea liked sunlight. She loved taking sunbaths in the winters, even in her past life, but she compromised and let her little sister do what she wanted.

"Lily, you just woke up? Seriously, it's past noon!" she scolded her, like a mother would scold her child.

Lily yawned and asked, "Where did you go?"

"Ugh! Don't change the topic now! Anyway, I was at Aunt Kalie's house. There was less work today, so I came early. Go and freshen up. Aunt Kalie made us some dumplings."

"What!? Dumplings! YAY!" Lily widened her eyes before she ran to freshen up.

Chelsea could only shake her head as she saw how energetic this lazy bum had become at the mention of food.

She was thinking of starting to train Lily along with her as well. She was sure that Lily had also inherited an imperial arm but had yet to awaken it.

"But alas, this lazy bum never works hard. Well, she is only 3, so I think it's normal. Maybe I am the weird one to think of training her so early... NO! NO! She needs to be strong as well. I cannot be with her forever. She will have her own life as well. It's better to train her early and make her aware of the world she lives in. It's not as pretty as flowers," Chelsea thought.

She wanted her sister to be strong too. She knew it was cruel of her to do this to her, but it was for her better future. Chelsea only had her in this life, and she didn't want to lose her.

Her sister was born smart. She had started forming sentences when she was just 1 year old, and she could now speak fluently at just the age of 3. She was smart and could understand many things.

"At least, I must teach her self-defense. There are many perverts around," Chelsea thought with determination.

They shared the dumplings, with Chelsea taking only 4 and giving 8 to Lily. Being a child, Lily wolfed down her food, not even noticing how little her sister was having.

Chelsea could only smile wryly. "What a little foodie."

After eating the dumplings, she taught Lily some basic subjects that she was confident in: basic math, basic geography and history of the world (at least as much as she could tell from the anime), and some other basic linguistic subjects.

"Thanks to mathematics, I could always leave her with some homework to do, or I don't know what this energetic thing would do behind my back," Chelsea thanked mathematics for being so vast.

"Alright, now you will do the homework while I am gone. Take some rest and do it then," Chelsea said in a serious voice. Even the playful Lily nodded seriously. She knew when to listen.

Chelsea was fortunate that Lily didn't like going out much. She wouldn't have to worry about her getting lost or kidnapped. Their house was in the middle of the village, so it was relatively safe with all the adults working around. Just to be sure, she would tell her neighbors, housewives, to keep an eye on Lily if she leaves.

After doing everything, Chelsea left her house once again, but this time, she didn't wander too far and headed towards the nearby forest, stealthily so no one would notice her.

It was time for her to train. She had been training her body and mind daily ever since her parents died. She would train in the nearby forest.

It was madness for a 4-year-old kid to enter a forest where dangerous beasts ran rampant. Even Chelsea feared them; however, she went with full planning. Over the years, she had carefully surveyed the forest and marked the most secure places as her training spots.

Dangerous beasts didn't roam near their village, so it was easy for her to find some good spots.

Coming to her usual spot, she started her training regimen. Girls were born with weaker physiques than boys, and it was a fact she didn't like. But in this world, where monsters like Akame and Esdeath live, she knew she could become quite strong by training hard and not to mention her skill that functioned similarly like her imperial arm was a good advantage she had. She was initially worried about bulking up however, knowing how some strong female characters didn't, she was relieved she could train without bulking up.

Coming near a rock, she started doing some push-ups. For a 4-year-old, one couldn't expect much, but she had become quite sturdy over the years. She could easily do 500 push-ups, which was an absurd number, but she, who possessed imperial arms, could do so even as a child.

After an intense session of continuous push-ups, she drank some water from the water pouch she was carrying. Resting for a moment, she began to do squats. She completed 200 squats quickly.

This was her usual high-intensity interval training, where she would perform short, intense exercises followed by some rest, and then again. This made her body physically stronger and sturdier.

That was not it. After doing squats, she did bench-press over a flat rock to train her abdomen and chest. Then, she did deadlifts with heavy tree branches to train her leg muscles. Next, she did some shoulder presses to train her shoulders, followed by some pull-ups to train her upper back and arms, using a tree as a bar to hang from.

And to finish it off, she did some planks and lunges to train her core muscles.

Today, she was only supposed to do physical training. Although it was a lot, she completed everything quickly in just a few hours. She had already planned ahead of time when to train what.

After all that, she was panting heavily, and her clothes were drenched in sweat. She drank the water in her pouch and collected some dry wood, branches, and twigs. She was going to use them as firewood to warm her house in the cold.

She would sell most of it to the other villagers for money or food. It was another source of income for her.

She wrapped the wood she had collected in a long cloth and went back to the village. She went to a small shop at the edge of the village. It was not a great place, with burly men walking in and out constantly. The air was filled with a musky scent of sweat and alcohol. Clearly, it was not a place for a 4-year-old girl.
