9 Dungeon Expedition(2)

Yep, I definitely made them angry by doing that.

I swear that the red lights in their eye sockets grew even brighter for a few seconds, clearly expressing to me the fact that they're frkn pissed.

Believe it or not, I actually ended up making myself jump with what I did just now.

The whole time, during the few seconds of sneaking up to the archer, I was constantly feeling super nervous about the skeleton turning around and turning me into swiss cheese with its unfair machine-gun magic bow.

I went for the skeleton archer first because not only did it pose the most threat to me, but it was also alone and had one of the two weapons that could actually hurt me.

If my sneak attack failed I might've actually been screwed...

These guys are scarier than the huge spider by a mile, but luckily it's going smoothly.

Well, at least for now.

The sound of bones clacking grows louder as the two skeleton warriors stomped onto the ground and charged towards me, their eye sockets filled with the red lights that symbolised the undead's hatred for the living. Right now, that hatred is all being directed towards me. I'm already beginning to reconsider if I made the right decision, is it too late now to say sorry?

I've already steeled my resolve for this during their fight, but even that is getting shaky...

GAH! STOP BEING A WUSS!

I got this. I GOT THIS!

Oh! right! I should give this try!

The Aerial Barrage magic bow floated off the ground as I used「Telekinesis」and pointed it at the incoming enemies before pulling back the string. The bow needs mana to be poured into it in order to generate mana arrows. If I remember correctly, a book in the library described the feeling of controlling your mana to be very similar to activating skills.

You also need to have the will and desire.

Come on, imagine a river flowing into the bow.

Maybe something like thi- GWAHHH IT HURTS!!!

I FORGOT THAT I"M USING MY BLOOD FOR THIS!

The magic bow began to glow slightly in blue light as it sucked away at my life force, aka my mana. Mana arrows began to form on the arrow shelf before firing itself at full speed towards the direction it's pointed in. One after another, a mana arrow would almost instantly form itself in the arrow shelf as the one before was let loose. Although the rapid-fire enchantment made it hard to aim, the bow made up for the lack of accuracy with attack speed and quantity.

Gweh!! It hurts!

Endure! Endure! ENDURE!!

The skeleton first skeleton warrior, the one wielding a sword, was already in bad condition with one of its arms missing and most of its armour being melted from its previous fight. Since it was taking the lead, it doesn't take long as the barrage of mana arrows pummels it and shatters any remaining amour along with the bones. Soon, the skeleton falls to the ground with a smash, causing all of its bones and armour to scatter all over the place. Seeing that the weaker skeleton can no longer pose a threat, I shifted my focus towards the cursed axe wielder and took aim before letting loose with my bow.

*PING* *PING* *PING* *BANG!*

Unlike the first skeleton, the skeleton warrior with the cursed axe utilised its「Medium Axeman-ship」skill to parry and destroy any arrows that come near it. The magic bow proves to be ineffective as the skeleton continues to charge forward without slowing down, swiping away all the arrows with powerful swings as if they weren't even there in the first place.

Damn it! The force is strong with this one!

That skill is so unfair!

Whatever. Here goes nothing,

Don't chicken out me!

Ditching the bow, I pull up both Arondite and the adamantite hammer and prepared to engage with the enemy. I also attempted to use「Telekinesis」on the skeleton and lift it up as soon as it got into range but all it did was slow it down, better than nothing though.

In the time I was testing the effect of「Telekinesis」on it, the skeleton warrior had managed to close the distance between us and is already launching its first attack. Twisting its body and raising its axe overhead, the skeleton swung down the cursed weapon with powerful momentum.

Crap!

*BANG!!!!*

The sound of metal weapons clashing together heavily echoed throughout the cave section as I used the adamantite hammer to barely block the attack. I say I blocked it but the cursed axe actually managed to cut me as my hammer was pushed back from the skeleton's enormous strength.

It hurts!

I'll definitely die if I take a full hit.

He's fast too!

My eyes can barely keep up with the skeleton's movements, but with the assistance of my「Mana Sense」skill I'm able to stay in the game.

I can see his movements, but I'm definitely weaker than him.

This guy's「Strength」skill is overpowering my「Telekinesis」, I can't fight him with power!

I quickly pulled back and brandished Arondite towards the skeleton's legs, hoping to cut them off and immobilize my enemy. The skeleton warrior easily parried the sword with its axe and initiated another lunge attack towards me as I dodged upwards to avoid the danger. Before the skeleton can unleash another attack, I used Arondite and stabbed toward's the skeleton's chest while also swinging the adamantite hammer overhead and down onto the enemy's skull.

*BOOM* *BANG*

The skeleton changed its stance to a lower posture and swung its big axe in a down to up motion, cleanly knocking away Arondite and blocking the impact of the sledgehammer in one move.

While the skeleton was still occupied with the hammer, I pulled back Arondite and stabbed it forward. The skeleton pushed the hammer away and hit the side of Arondite to deflect the stab. Following the momentum, it moved forward and sent a heavy diagonal strike towards me.

*BANG*

I barely manage to block the attack as I pulled back my adamantite hammer and used its handle to shield myself from the blow. Using the heel of the axe's blade, the skeleton hooks the hammer and forces it downwards before pulling it away. Once again, the skeleton moves forward and performs a lunge attack which grazes my left side as I dodge to the right.

GAH! IT HURTS!!

He isn't giving me any space either!

Not only is his gear in bad shape, but a lot of his bones were cracked from the fight with the centipede. Despite that, he still has the upper hand against me!

Damn it! Why is this guy so strong?!?

Come on. Think. What to do...

As I continue my exchanges against the skeleton and avoid its attacks, I began to pick up some details on my enemy's axe using「Mana Sense」. On the shoulder of the cursed axe, there were cracks that would have been very hard to notice with the naked eye due to the weapon being quite old and dirty.

Oh...oh, OH!!

That's it!

Steeling my resolve and formulating a plan in my head, I pressed forward towards the skeleton during our exchange and once again swung the adamantite hammer towards the skeleton with all my might.

*BANG!*

As the skeleton held up its cursed axe to block the hammer, I swung down Arondite towards the shoulder of the axe. The skeleton seemed to be confused at first, but when it realised what I wanted to do it was already too late.

*BOOM!* *CRACKKK!!*

As my sword made contact with the shoulder of the axe, the cracked on the parts of the axe began to form even more cracks before finally breaking. This caused the blade of the weapon to break off and fall onto the ground, leaving the skeleton with a useless stick.

This is it!

Try block this bone head!

After quickly retracting my hammer, I swung it sideways and attempted to smash the side of the skeleton's body. Sensing the danger, the skeleton quickly raised both its arms to its side to block the attack.

*BANG!!!*

By changing its stance and angling its body, the skeleton was able to withstand the blow of the hammer and get away with only a few cracks on its arms.

Guh, you actually blocked it...but it's over.

Taking advantage of the opening, I thrust Arondite forward and pierced through the helmet of the skeleton and into its skull.

*CRACK!*

With the sword sticking inside its head, the skeleton stared at the living in front of it in hatred as the red light in its eye sockets began to grow dimmer and dimmer. After the red lights finally disappeared, the skeleton ceased all resistance and falls onto the ground with a thud.

....

It's over right?

I won...

I WON!!!

My first proper fight was a victory!!

AHAHAHAH!!!

As if lost in my own world, I floated around the cave and spun around in circles while also swinging around my two weapons as if they were toys. If my family saw me like this they would definitely be disappointed, yep.

After screwing around for a few minutes and finally calming down, I brought my attention to the spoils of war.

GWEHEHEHE!!

The best part of RPG games is loot!

Mr skeleton, I, the hero, have reigned supreme in combat!

So all your stuff is naturally mine!

Ahhh...

Alright, let's see here...

The only equipment visibly left intact from the spoils was the magic bow. Nevertheless, I was still happy and wanted to search the skeletons for any form of trophy for my first ever victory.

After inspecting the body of the skeleton soldier, I began to notice something engraved onto the back of the skeleton's chest plate.

It's still too dirty to see what it was so I took out a piece of cloth from my inventory and began to rub it clean.

The cloth was getting pretty dirty but I got lots of stuff after taking whatever I wanted from the castle and dumping it into my inventory so ruining a cloth or two wouldn't matter.

It took a while but after rubbing and persisting, the symbol on the back of the chest plate gradually began to reveal itself.

This...

...Godefray... I guess not everyone made it out...

On the back of the skeleton's chest plate was the symbol of the Morvas kingdom.
