27 A life as an adventurer will be a fun one... Right? -Chapter 23-

"Hell! I know when I'm beat, good fight, kid. Hey! Guild lady, I forfeit, so the fight is over!"

The decently large crowd broke out into cheers and such... Jeez, was this guy really that well known? Well, no matter, I, at least won, which means I won't be losing any stats or skills!

"Yeah, it was an okay fight." I put out my hand, expecting a handshake. I mean, I was trying to be nice and all, he wasn't so bad.

"The name's Seralt Gantir! I bet you'll be at my rank in no time." He shook my hand, and jeez did he have big hands. So, from his words, I'm guessing adventurers in this world have ranks.

"Very well, sir, do come with me, you still have to register." The Guild worker left back inside, so I and Ai followed her. Haha... I and Ai, funny.

We made it to a room in the back, nice looking, two pieces of paper lying on the table, real professional.

"Please sit down."

We all sat down at the table, the woman speaking, "What is the both of yours names."

"Oh, Shiro and Ai, respectively," I responded, a bit nervous. I mean, I felt like this was some interrogation! She wrote it down almost immediately.

"Those names... Are you both from the east? They both sound quite so."

"Ah... Well, I actually come from a small village to the south, but my father was." I lied, it sounded believable enough, right? "Ai, are you?"

Ai stayed silent for a short while, speaking, "... Yes."

"Ah, I see, interesting. Apologies for the distraction, allow me to move on. What are your specialties in combat?"

"I mainly fight with a sword, but I use wind and ice magic as support, like you... probably saw in that fight." I lied about actually being able to use magic... but, it probably doesn't matter... right? I mean, with those two skills, I practically can! Just... way, way worse. Hm... I wonder what Ai will say, though.

Hm, that actually gives me the idea to appraise her, don't know why I haven't until now...

Jeez, I get I'm still only a slime, but she's lower level than me and still has better stats! Hah... I guess I make it up in skills, but still! She can even use magic...

Ah, shoot, I got so distracted I didn't even hear Ai's reply! Damn...

"Hm... That information should be enough," Really? It didn't feel like a lot for me, Oh, she's continuing on, "However, before I administer your Guild Cards, I must firsts check if or if not either of you are criminals or fugitives." She pulled out a small orb, placing it on the table.

"Once you touch this orb, it will change colours based on if you're innocent or not."

I nodded, taking the Orb. It glowed a green shade, The Guild Worker stared, no reaction. I guess I'm not evil or something, then. I hand it to Ai, like mine, it glowed green.

"Excellent, your Guild Cards will be made by tomorrow. Do come by tomorrow." The woman spoke, signalling for us to leave.

With that finally done, we head out. Ah, you know, for how short of time I've been in this world, I've done a lot! However... I'm still way too weak, and I'm definitely due for an evolution. Therefore, it's time to kill some monsters!

Not yet, though.

Tomorrow, I'll take on a request for monster subjugation or something. Also... I've gotta find an inn. Just kidding, while we made our way to The Guild, I saw a place that fit the description of an Inn perfectly.

Same old, same old. Spend some money, get a room, and rest. I don't exactly need to describe this all to you, do I? You get the gist.

Ai fell asleep... Probably, it's hard to tell. So, anyway, not it's time to do what I wanted from the time we got here! I wanna see the entire place from high up! I mean, a place as big as this has gotta be cool looking from up high.

So, I sneakily transform into my Giant Bat form, which is ironically my smallest one, and sneak out the window. Flying up to the top of the Capital, I have to say... It's one hell of a view. Look, I'm not saying I haven't seen my share of beautiful places in this world, but this takes the cup. The Capital is divided into four parts from what I can see.

First, there's from what I can tell, some sort of slums area, next, is where I'm currently staying at, a sort of residential and trading area, a place full of estates and manors, most likely the zone dedicated to the nobles, and finally, The castle. Seriously, it's one huge castle alright, so big that it takes up like one eight of the entire capital! Although, there are also some other places in that zone, like a large building which I can't actually guess the purpose of.

From up here, I can really appreciate this world I've found myself in... Though, I still lose myself in the fear of still knowing practically nothing about this entire world. Up here, I have a sense of clarity in my thoughts... But that doesn't help.

The woman with that ungodly amount of power, what exactly did she mean by lots of people have their eyes on me? And she said Reincarnator as if there were multiple people who have... You know, I haven't exactly thought about it, but am I really the only person to have come from Earth? I mean, it's entirely possible... But I sorta just never thought about it, huh.

I'll... Think about it tomorrow. I should get some rest, I have a long day tomorrow, after all.
