2 Chapter 2
Tenshi knew his cover was blown, instead of staying still and hoping he had unfurled his tail ready to lunge forward. The system hadn't identified the levels of the previous wolves which was a bit daunting. He was a level 4, while the two were double digits. How many had they killed to reach their level?
As soon as the man had motioned his hand, Tenshi had already readied his legs to jump. With a large jump he had barely timed, he had jumped over the bullets trajectory.
The pond/lake was pretty far from the dense forest which was concerning for Tenshi. He would have to run and make a bunch of random turns to throw off their aim. He began zigzagging trying to close the distance between the trees and him.
The old man despite his large appearance had very accurate eyes. His bullets nearly ripped through Tenshi on several occasions. The old man held his position as a sniper while the younger man pursued after Tenshi, he had put away the shotgun and was running with a pistol in one hand. His second hand was above his second pistol ready to shoot hell when he got close enough.
[ It's not time yet, I can't turn and fight that man yet. ]
Keeping that thought in mind Tenshi continued trying to make his running as confusing as possible.
[ If I can't make friends in this world THEN Shrubs are my Best Friend! ]
Tenshi leaped through the shrubbery as he had successfully made it through the vast bare and bumpy land and into the forest.
[ Now it's a free for all! ]
The level 16 man followed right behind his every steps. Making a quick 180 turn the man walked right into Tenshi's range and view. Pouncing onto the dazed man, Tenshi made quick work of him by slashing his arms leaving a gory red 'X' on the mans chest. He finished the man off with a swift twist of the mans neck. He instantly died and went limp on the ground.
[ Tsk, how predictable. Your level clearly doesn't compare to your level of experience. ]
When the man died Tenshi leveled up once from level 4 to 5.
[ Perhaps as long as I kill something above my level I'll level up? Also how come everything dies so quickly? He's higher level should he be I don't know, more tanky? System? ]
As he was dragging the body clear the older man pushed through the ferns and leaves. Hmm, despite his lumbering body he was pretty fast. Quickly aiming and firing at Tenshi who had been caught off guard dragging the victim's body.
Tenshi felt the bullet impact him in the shoulder. Tenshi went flying from the impact on his small body. His mind raced on how to counter attack, how come the bullet didn't pierce him? It had only shattered his scales and perhaps dented his shoulder but that was it. There wasn't any piercing.
Standing up Tenshi let out a stupidly high pitched scream... Ehm, roar. He felt something tingling along his body. To be specific it was his scales changing colors in the eyes of the old man the cyan scales were now bursting with magical energy. It was like a blue flame was eating at his body and his black scales than started fading into white scales. He looked like a white and cyan beast no longer the prey but now the hunter.
Not noticing his bodily change Tenshi took advantage of the fear and attacked the old man. He put a burst of speed opening his mouth wide while tilting his head aiming for the old mans neck, he went for a killer bite.
[ Shit! The shotgun! ]
Tenshi could only curse himself as the old man stunned a moment ago rolled away rolling over the young mans body picking up the fallen shotgun. Firing that at such close range was bound to hurt if not kill Tenshi.
Welling something in his throat Tenshi turned around facing the old man. It felt like saliva was traveling up his throat, if he was going to choke and hack out something he was going to do it at the old man.
Staring in shock and amazement Tenshi watched as what he assumed to be his saliva turned out to be a ball of flames! As the man fired the shotgun all the bullets were rendered null under the immense heat, the ball of flames erupted. Realizing that the beast in front of him had more tricks up it's sleeves the old man did the most sensible thing.
Running away~!
Seeing this Tenshi ran as fast as he could not letting the old man leave his vision. As he was closing in, he leapt forward stretching out his arms gripping onto the mans wide shoulders. With the sudden weight on his back the old man fell forward onto his face. Basking in victory Tenshi spread his arms wide and opened his mouth letting everything out as he bit, scratched, tore and ripped at the old mans body.
After he was done the old mans body was a gory open mess with flesh flung wildly everywhere. Taking in a large breath he released a triumphant roar making birds nearby fly way in panic and fear.
He had leveled up twice after killing the man. Inside his head Tenshi received five notifications:

Tenshi's Magical Flame Body dispersed as his scales flipped themselves over revealing the dark gray scales. His hunger and hydration had dropped to 35% from using the form for 3 minutes, 'so by using the ability for 10 minutes I would pass out from hunger' he thought grimly. By passing out he would be vulnerable to other animals taking advantage of the situation.
Heh, he was so hungry he could eat just about anything. Oh? There's a juicy body under me? Ittekimasu!
His shoulder started throbbing as he was munching away at the body leaving shattered bones and organs everywhere. He got up and left the bloody body for other animals to eat and left it as a warning for other humans if they happened to stumble upon it.
Tenshi felt no remorse for humans, he would treat them like he would treat any other living being. If he hunted them, there was no reason for it other than they were the only prey he could find. Although, was it possible for a fellow reincarnate to also exist in this world? The possibility wasn't impossible, he died and reincarnated who was to say no one else also went through that process and ended up on the same world as him.
Tenshi felt a desire arising in him, it was to turn back into a human! There wasn't really a reason, it just felt like if has the sentience of a human he might as well have a human body.
He ran back to his borough ignoring leaving behind the bodies for the rest of the forest to eat. Glancing at the wolf Heh if he could turn into a human, the first thing he was doing was finding a way to turn this pelt into a blanket!

Tenshi woke up bright and early, his hunger was at 85% again so he tore off yet another limb of one the wolves. He munched on the bone feeling antsy, he was worried about his new form and the risks it offers.
The benefits were he would be stronger, he would be able to use magic and light stuff on fire like cigarettes without a lighter. The form would make basically a stronger version of what he was now.
The downside though was if he used it for too long he might as well die from hunger and hydration or from other creatures attacking him.
Tenshi left the tunnel entering sunlight, his body felt like collapsing and sleeping under the warm rays of light. His body yearned for the warmth and the sun was very tempting.
He sniffed around making sure no one or thing was watching him or taking shelter near him. He smelled a very strange but familiar smell it led him 40 yards away to a barely lit fire.
There was a giant bundle of cloth near the fire. He crept closer he found a slab of cooked meat next to the fire. He walked cautiously pass the bundle and peeked at the face. Beneath the bundle was a young beautiful face of a girl. Another 19 years old he thought.
He ran and grabbed the meat and left in a burst of silent speed. His lips drooled as he tried recalling how cooked meat tasted. He recalled a small slab of beef he stole once, when he cooked it it tasted painfully bland. But when his best friend Jad had cooked it after him and it was full of taste, the damage to his pride was immeasurable that day.
He tore the meat in half trying to get every taste from it in his mouth. When he finished eating he was disappointed in its taste. It tasted like his cooked beef no flavor just a simple cook. He returned to the fireplace finding the girl still asleep. As payment he ran back and ripped off another limb making sure not to dirty it with his saliva.
All the noise woke her up, nearly scaring Tenshi to death. She stared at him holding a torn wolf limb before turning towards the fire. Noticing the empty fire place she broke out in a light laughter as she understood his intentions.
She left him alone watching him plop down the torn limb. He went into his Magical Flame Body form. Shooting out a small fireball lighting up the remaining sticks and dried leaves on fire. He tossed the leg next to the girl. Promptly leaving after he had finished his side quest.
Making sure he wasn't being followed he crept back into his small home. He started to expand the tunnel making it more of a spacious hole. Feeling extremely dry he took a break from his work and headed towards the pond.
He swam down to find the pond to be only a couple feet deep. It was roughly 10 feet deep and was pretty deserted except for a couple of medium fish.
His hydration was back to 100% and his hunger was at 70% even though he went into his Flaming body for like a few seconds charging up a firebolt. So he went back into his home and continued his construction. He expanded the ceiling raising it by a good foot.
[ How safe is this... I dug at the base of a tree, I'm pretty sure it can collapse at any moment. ]
He returned outside seeking animals to kill for their fur and food. He ventured deeper into the forest hoping for more activity. He soon came across a moose on fire scaring away gray wolves similar to the ones he had killed, with its flaming antlers. He found two level 18 devil rabbits eating the body of a burnt wolf. Even rabbits have had their herbivore title revoked, what a sad sight.
It seemed like wolves were the lowest in the animal kingdom. He ran at the devil rabbits flashing his teeth he snagged one of them before they could react. Quickly chomping down on the neck he dropped it on the ground and ran for the other one who was waiting prepared. Its white pelt started flashing black before becoming a living black fireball. It rammed into Tenshi's leg burning him a tiny bit. He slashed at it finding nothing but hot fire. He turned around and found the first devil rabbit and fled the scene leaving the other rabbit alone.
He settled down outside his home and gather sticks, dried leaves and stones. He wasn't much of a camper so he only knew that he needed to make a circle of stone and place the sticks and leaves inside the circle.
He started a fire by going flame body than shooting a ball of flame at it. He quickly dispersed his magical body by focusing on his none white and bright cyan body. He found two sticks about the same length. He slit the rabbit from throat to butt. It started gushing out blood as he looked away while pulling out its intestines and throwing them into the fire. He flipped the bloody body over tearing off tufts of fur trying to gather enough to make a comfortable bed. But being a small animal he would need probably 3 wolves or a ton of rabbits. He tore off the fur and rushed inside not losing a single tuft and placed them into a corner. He would probably need several rabbits to be placed inside the corner or else all the tufts of fur would be blown away by a strong wind.
He ran back out to the rabbits body, he pierced the body with his finger before skewering it with some sticks. He planted the sticks at an angle over the fire and hoped for the best.
He let it sit for perhaps an hour before picking up his meal and removing the skewers. He let the rabbit cool on its own for a couple of minutes before digging in.
Its cooked flesh had no flavor because all of it was cooked away when he wanted it to taste like a better version of the raw meat. He ate it hungrily than kicked sand into the fire leaving only a bunch of ash and stones. Kicking in more dirt to be safe he headed back into his home, the tufts of fur were spread across the floor, it would be better to skin the beast instead of tearing it apart.
When going to sleep Tenshi hadn't paid attention to two eyes watching over him as he slept.
"Seems like a new reincarnated has come…"
"Interesting."
"I'll send him a little welcoming gift."
A shrill laughter travelled through the forest that night, awakening a certain White Wolf.
