8 Reincarnation

Mavislin's wings were highlighted with a red outline in vision and various popouts appeared in the way.

"Notice. Analyzing the being before you. Also known as the Child of Valokia, the Valkyrie named Mavislin S. Roydon was known to have the largest pair of wings in this Period, compared to other beings. This happens to be only half their potential size."

"Each feather has a skill called 'Morphing' which turns each feather into a specific whip. Her Wings are Elemental, meaning that they can change to which Element she desires. Its defense is ten times higher than yours so best not to engage," warned the voice.

I need to know more information about her.

"Notice. If you are planning to engage with her, please withdraw immediately. She will destroy you five times over if she decides to show even half of her powers."

Sheesh... That was a pretty harsh thing to say... But that's not the reason why I want to know more about her. I want to know which part of the novel have I been transported into.

"This world is not based on any novel written in history. And the events of this world might coincide with what you've known but moving on, it can be different as well."

My eyes widened as I heard those words. What do you mean? You've confirmed the types of beings around me and their names... Why can't you link the connection from the information here to the novel in my memories?

"The characters, powers, and setting are based on the novel. However, this world is different from the novel. It is not in the book."

Hold on... So, I am reborn in a world, based on the novel I read, but it is somehow reimagined? That's why you can't link it to my old memories?

"Affirmative."

Well, in the novel, Raiyen does mention how Time works. It's not always linear and there can be multiple scenarios and outcomes of a moment. The Valkyrie gently flapped her wings, kicking up a slight breeze on my face.

"Would you like to join us?" asked Mavislin, cocking her head to the side.

I nodded and Raiyen seemed to look tired as his weapons vanished. Mavislin then hovered behind me and gripped onto my waist.

"Afraid of flying?"

"No, but-"

It was too late to say anything else as the Valkyrie scooped me up and headed towards the place called the Orphanage. I was too busy trying to analyze my surroundings to be scared of taking flight. Oh yea, I've got to turn off the warning each time a hostile entity is nearby.

Or can I change the radius? I don't think turning it off would be a very good idea. After all, I'm in a world that possesses overpowered characters, running about.

"I can lower it down to 10 meters. Would you like to confirm the change?"

Pop-out of the question appeared, with yes and no buttons. I agreed and the small messages on the left corner of my sight vanished. Phew, I was beginning to get annoyed. It was like the popup notification for every time one of my friends is playing a game on Steam.

A few minutes passed and the Valkyrie started to descend. She placed me back onto the ground, thankfully feet first.

"You don't seem so afraid of flying. I like you," praised Mavislin, keeping her wings.

"I'm not, I've traveled in the air before. I just don't prefer it unless I have full control of where I am going. And where are we?" I asked, taking in my surroundings.

The place looked familiar, it had long stretches of one-story blocks. There weren't any double-story buildings in sight and the grounds were paved with stones, in contrast to the area I had landed. Hang on, I'm not even in the area yet. I caught myself staring into a portal of some sort.

The portal was large, exceeding a normal height of an average doorway. I looked at it in awe. I was a fantasy reader, but seeing it with my own two eyes was a whole different experience than imagining it. As I squinted, I noticed the place wasn't empty.

There were young kids, running about. Some had normal-looking hair while some sprouted tails or wings. These kids are definitely not human since I could see their Auras burning brightly around them. But they looked so adorable and cheerful.

They were so full of life, in contrast to the kids in my old life. Always glued to their phone screens. Then again, having powers was much better than an iPhone. I secretly wished that my baby brother wasn't introduced to technology that early in his life.

I wanted him to get a sense of childhood instead of just looking at a screen all the time.
