2 The First Encounter

"Goblins!"

"Ah!"

All the merchants broke out into shouts and screams as a group of goblins emerged from the forest on the other side of their cart. The Adventurer Daryl and his companions all readied their weapons to defend the people from the monsters. He was never the type to let others get attacked without standing up to defend the people. He was a true warrior who looked out for the innocent whenever opportunity arose for him.

A few goblins started shooting arrows at the people while the others rushed at the people with their daggers. Daryl swung his sword beheading a goblin as he turned to make sure the people were alright. His eyes quickly wandering over to glance at the wolf in the trees. He was curious as to why the wolf was not moving. It had been following the cart towards the town, but now that the people were being attacked the wolf had stopped and seemed to be watching.

"Is he curious about the fight? Or is he just laughing at it? I dont understand that guy.." Daryl couldn't help but mumble to himself out of curiosity over the actions of the wolf.

"What are you talking a bout? Stop worrying about the wolf the people are being attacked by goblins!"

"Sorry, it just doesn't act like a normal wolf. There's something off about that creature."

The sound of the swords and daggers clashing against each other was very rough to listen to. The screams of the people scared in the cart gave my body the urge to rush forward and help them, but at the same time my mind was nervous. I was a wolf now, so battle instinct was rising inside of me, while my human soul was still shuddering at the idea of fighting the goblins. I wasn't sure if I should help or just turn and continue on my way.

"Ah! Ahh!" A woman was holding her baby tight in her arms as a goblin was rushing towards her.

At the sight my mind went blank and my body shot forward. Leaping into the air my massive paws slammed into the goblin causing it to be sent flying across the ground. The goblin struck the ground so hard that it lost it's life upon impact due to it's small body and low level. Upon it's death something felt like it was rushing into my body. Is this what it feels like to gain experience? The thought crossed my mind momentarily before I cleared my mind again and rushed at the other goblins who were shooting the arrows.

As my shoulder slammed into them they were sent flying like the previous goblin. Some died upon impact while others managed to barely survive the force. As I rushed at them again I clenched my teeth into their small bodies and shook them ferociously before letting go. They were sent flying one by one as they bled out before even hitting the ground. Once all the shooters were gone I stood there watching Daryl and the other adventurers finish up their fights. While they were finishing their battle a notification from Gods Voice suddenly popped up.

What's a Faolan? I couldn't help but voice the question towards the most unusual named option on the list. By the look of the list I could easily guess what the others would lead towards, but the Faolan wolf was something that sounded unusual and I could not quite understand it.

[ Faolan: A wolf presumed to be cursed and left to die, but known to reach great success ]

I don't think I'd enjoy being a cursed species, thanks. I will go with Shadow Wolf!

I felt a warm feeling come over by body as it slowly started to turn dark grey. My eyes that were golden slowly faded into a bright red. As I looked down I could see black smoke fading from my body. The evolution was very notice able to anyone who glanced at me. From the looks on the merchant and the people in his cart they had seem my evolution appear in front of their own eyes. I couldn't help but wonder how they were going to react to seeing me become a Shadow Wolf. From the name itself I would assume it was something people would fear, but none of them seemed to react. I could see amazement in their eyes. Why are they amazed at my evolution? Shouldn't they be scared?

[ The Shadow Wolf is a rare species. They are thought to be extinct as their bloodline has the possibility of reaching great heights, they are known to be a sign of the possible rising of a new God as they evolve as long as requirements are met alone their way. ]

Wait, what?! I could become a god just from this bloodline?! My body jumped in freight and amazement at the mere thought of what Gods Voice had just said to me. Though I presumed it was just a myth as he had clearly said it was something the people thought about the bloodline. He never said it was something guaranteed so it was probably a fairy tale they made up on their own.

"So you did decide to help us, after all.." Daryl's voice rung out among the crowd as he slowly paced his way over towards the newly evolved wolf. Instinctively the wolf seemed to flinch and glare at him as though it was trying to determine the meaning behind his approach.

"Looks like the wolf doesn't like you, Daryl! ha ha ha!"

"I doubt you would fare any better then I would at approaching him." Daryl shook his head for a moment then the merchant cart started to take off again. All the adventurers started walking along with it again. He found himself standing there still for a moment as he watched the wolf curiously. They both stared into each other's eyes for a long moment before he sighed and turned to walk off with the cart. Something inside of Daryl told him the wolf could understand what he spoke to it, but at the same time he found himself trying to push that thought away. After all, the wolf was just an animal.
