Royal Family

"Your Majesty, how much longer are you going to let crown prince Leo wander around like some adventurer. The war on the border is getting more serious as time passes and if he doesn't step up soon like the crown prince should then it will only hinder the kingdom's hope in him. The people are already talking about how bad it looks on you..."

"General, Edgar, how I raise my sons have nothing to do with you."

The King Hamelot sat upon his throne as he sighed at the sight of his General begging him to do something about his first born son, Leo. His son had been interested in adventuring like regular people among his kingdom of Cadirade ever since he was a young child. There was no idea in his mind how the child had grown to be so interested in things out there in the world that were beyond the natural reach of a royal family member, but it was something he had long since grown tired of hearing everyone else around him question his son for being interested in.

In his eyes his son was a smart young man. The king massaged his long beard as he was deep in thought over the war. It was something he was use to dealing with as it ran in his family to fend the kingdom of Cadirade off from Ethiadan. The two kingdoms have been at war against each other over the struggle of power for many generations. It was something that none of the kings before him had been able to put an end to. It was a success just to keep the kingdom safe from invasion by Ethiadan so as long as their kingdom survived the attacks it was good enough for him.

Leo was a smart young man, but his failure to keep himself at home to learn more about the war and prepare himself for the life of being the next king to protect the kingdom from the invading Ethiadan was something that even the king felt troubled over. If his son could not handle the task to protect the kingdom it could be the end of their kingdom as everyone knew it if he gained the thrown. It made the king sad to imagine his eldest son being the one who could cause the downfall of everything he had spent his life protecting as well as every king before him had.

"What should I do from here?" He mumbled to himself as he watched his general still kneeling before him.

The king was in his sixties and his blue eyes had long faded nearly dim from exhaustion at his age. His once blond hair was long and had aged into a silver that reflected the light brightly. His body on the throne almost seemed godly to those who gazed upon him.

The general was still young at heart, a man of mid thirties, and felt like he was gazing upon the god of the realm as he admired his king before his eyes. General Edgar's brown eyes and black hair seemed almost insignificant in the presence of such a magnificent man. That was how he felt whenever he had to report to the king of Cadirade.

Blond hair and blue eyes was something that every member of the royal family was known for being born with. Even the second and third princes were the same. Though, no one in the family was ever born with blue eyes as bright and dazzling as the first born son and so the other two were often annoyed when in the presence of their own brother if they were trying to flirt because the girls would naturally flock to the first born crown prince. Their own father use to laugh at the sight as they grew up.

"Your Majesty, maybe it is time to start considering Curtis for the throne instead. He is great with swordsmenship! The third prince, Emery, would even be a better fit for the throne. The boy may be young, but there is still plenty of time to raise him to be fit for king after you." Edgar sighed. His heart was heavy at the fact that the king would not give up on Leo.

General Edgar felt that prince Leo was a lost cause. The prince would always run off and refuse to practice the sword with the rest of his men. If he could not train the young master in effort to protect himself in the days to come than how would the boy manage to survive when the war reaches it's peak. He felt sorry at the thought of wanting the prince to not gain the throne, but if he did he worried about the fate of his own home in the kingdom.

"Has there been any update as to how my son is doing out there?" King Hamelot gazed down at the General, but Edgar felt like his eyes were simply gazing right past his very soul in hopes to see his son Leo appear before him.

"Your Majesty, Leo was lucky to avoid the massacre of Silvervane. I heard he barely escaped that calamity in time, but I heard something else about him that sounded strange to me... It is probably just a rumor some locals made up or exaggerated..."

"Yes? What rumors?" Hamelot leaned forward to listen more attentively to Edgar.

"I heard a rumor claiming your son is traveling with a Shadow Wolf."

The kings eyes widened for a moment then closed as he placed both hands firmly on the arms of his chair.

"Is this true?" The king asked.

"I am not sure, Majesty." Edgar shook his head. He could not verify the fact because he had not seen it personally with his own eyes. Therefore, he would not state a false fact to his king. He had no inclination to lead his king onto something only to later find it out to be false.

"Very well... Do you know where he is now?"

"Last I heard he may be in Gladstone. There is in fact a creature with him while traveling. I just have no idea what it is for a fact. I have spent much time on the front lines taking care of our soldiers in the border war."

"Very well." The king smiled slightly to himself. "I would like to see this creature with my own eyes."

King Hamelot thought to himself about his son and how bright of a young man he had grown to become. He felt that if his son truly had got himself a strong companion it could spell a turn in the war for his kingdom. The thought of turning the tide on Ethiadan was something every king before him, including himself, had dreampt and wished for to the very day they died. He knew that one day he would fall and have to leave his throne to one of his sons in the end. Leo was the one he truly wanted to leave the thrown as he could see the inspiring fire behind his sons eyes that many failed to see, but he felt his son would need that final pillar to hold him strongly to the throne the day he gained it.

"If he truly has gained a powerful beast by his side it could spell a turn in events on a historical level." Hamelot smiled to himself.
