3 Getting Inside The Town

As the merchant cart approached the gate of the town the adventurers all had to stop and hand over their Adventurer Cards since they weren't local residents. From what it looked like I could gather that they had to do this routine at every town and city they would come to. I wasn't sure how I was going to sneak in because a sole wolf wandering into the town would instantly be noticeable and probably frighten a ton of people at first thought if I just ran inside. Thinking of an idea as quick as I could I found myself slowly approaching the Adventurer Daryl and standing behind him.

Raising my head and lowering my tail I tried to make myself look as casual as possible. If I could pass myself off as being with an adventurer then that would be easy access to get inside if they just assumed I was with somebody. Since I was standing behind the man and his friends they didn't seem to notice me being so close. It was only a matter of time and being quiet to sneak in without them noticing me.

"Sir, if you wish to bring your companion inside it will be required to wear the required Collar. It's 1 Gold for a permanent collar that you can use at any town and city within the kingdom in your travels." The guard said as he pointed to Daryl and his group as they approached the guard.

"What are you talking about?" Daryl was stunned for a moment then slowly turned around to notice the wolf standing behind him. His brows raised as he thought for a moment wondering when the wolf got so close to him. Is he trying to enter with us? He thought to himself as he tried to gather the thought of the wolf from it's eyes as it just glared up at him as if it was ashamed it had gotten got in the act.

"That is your companion ain't it? If so he requires the collar to show it's harmless otherwise once he enters he will be bound to get in trouble among the locals and other warriors in the town." The guard slowly pulled out a silver collar from his storage device and pointed at the wolf.

"Uh... right.." Daryl thought for a moment then glanced at the wolf behind him again.

"Daryl, that is a wild beast. Are you seriously considering buying it a collar when it doesn't even belong to you? What if you get blamed for it doing something in the town?" one of his companions whispered to him trying to push the idea out of Daryl's head.

"Right, I'll buy Vorbuk a collar than.." Daryl said as he handed over a gold coin and took the silver collar from the guard, slowly approaching the wolf. He knelt down on one knee as he stared the wolf in the eyes trying to read what it was thinking as he showed the collar to the wolf. He was curious and at the same time hoping that the wolf would understand the meaning behind his actions. Slowly the wolf sat down and closed it's eyes as Daryl reached out and put the collar on him.

Little did Daryl know that the only reason the wolf allowed him to put on the collar was that the wolf understood every word they had spoke. He also did a check on the item to make sure it wouldn't bind him to the man before him. Luckily the collar would only provide some stats to him that would help him along his own journey.

Item: Silvervane Collar

+ 5 Defense

+ Agility

Once the collar was placed on him a notification suddenly popped up.

"Now once you get in the town you better behave yourself.. You might not be my personal companion, but if you do anything in the town it will come back to haunt me personally as the town thinks you're mine, Vorbuk." Daryl whispered to the wolf before slowly standing up and walking into the town with his friends.

That bastard even named me.. I hope it doesn't have any negative affects on me later on. I can't complain though, because I honestly do like the name. Something about the name itself I feel like it's pushed my power even higher. It was like there was hidden power in the name itself as it engraved itself on to my very soul. I had to quickly shake the thought away for now and catch up with Daryl and his group. I had no thought to stay with them, but for now I had to stay near them to make it look real so I would not get chased out of the town.

There were people everywhere on the streets. The merchants were unloading their items into their shops, while other people were browsing the various buildings. Daryl and his party seemed to walk into a local bar called The Silvermoon Inn. Vorbuk quickly paced himself inside with them with the idea of ease dropping on local drunks for details on anything going on around the area. He was sure he could find something to help his knowledge of this world and area build up even further.

"Daryl, how long are you going to let that thing follow us?"

"His name is Vorbuk. He can follow us as long as he wants as long as he doesn't cause any trouble there is no reason to push him aside."

"If we get chased out of Silvervane because you decided to gift that wolf a Silvervane Collar I swear I will hold it against you later on."

"I will hold you do that! ha ha ha!" Daryl laughed as he walked with his group over to a table in the far corner of the bar and sat down.
