81 Ancient Temple (Part 2)

Those eyes of the god continued to gaze intently at Vorbuk as if he was trying to decipher something. Bredret could not determine what the motive was for the god to become so interested in a companion beast like the wolf.

Gradually the pressure began to decrease until they were all able to properly breathe once more. A pair of colorless eyes from the god studied their every movement. His clothing clad in browns as his shaggy, gray, hair dangled in front of his face. He was clearly trying to determine what to say to them.

"We're sorry for intruding.. We'll leave!" Daryl continued to speak for everyone as he felt getting out of there would probably be the safest option for them. They were not able to deal with a god that had a dangerous temper. The one in front of them was clearly not a low ranking god either!

"..." The god opened his mouth to utter something in reply but no words came out. As if the god decided at last minute not to speak his mouth closed back shut.

Can he not speak? Vorbuk wondered and he could see clearly that he was not the only one wondering such a thing about the god. It was obvious the god was going to respond to them but he uttered no words.

If he wanted us dead he would have already done so... The pressure from him alone when he first showed up at this temple was clearly just passive occurrence by accident.. He obviously doesn't go around others very often.. Vorbuk thought about the situation in front of them while he could see Daryl trying to convince the others in a silent debate to leave quickly.

Vorbuk did not know all the gods in the world he had become a part of but he did trust his instincts that told him the one in front of them was not hostile. Nor was he trying to deliberately chase them away.

Under the light of the glowing blue orbs that floated among the temple the wind blew a gentle, cool , breeze. Dozens of scattered papers wafted about the place as books began to blow open. Pages could be heard turning in the wind. Those once colorless eyes glowing a faint blue as the god's expression was unreadable.

It felt as if time had slowed as they watched the god's hand slowly raise. Finger pointing in the direction of the temple wall as dozens of blue eyes lit up in sync so that they all could read his words clearly. The reason behind him refusing to speak aloud was unknown to Vorbuk at the time, but the beautiful image of those lights upon the temple's, plant coated, white and gold marble walls was something beautiful that he unconsciously engraved in his memory while standing there.

[ Welcome to my temple of worship. ]

They all had assumed him to be the god the temple worshiped regardless of him welcoming them. But having the god welcome them was still a load off their shoulders. Their hearts were finally able to relax even if it was just a bit.

"You deliberately hid this place, right?" Prince Leo finally brought himself to step forward and ask the question that everyone wanted to know.

[ Correct. ] The blue lights spelled out a single word at first before shifting to add further.

[ It has been a long time since anyone has stepped foot among this place. It is but a beacon of what once was. I let go of this place.. Long ago. ]

"But- You've seen HIM correct? The one summoning all the skeleton monsters?" Leo pushed further. His words instantly causing a slight irritation in the god that caused the pressure in the room to become heavy once more.

Was it because of his words? Or because of his attitude? The others could only feel it was probably the entire latter.

[ Indeed. I have seen him. He is inside my temple. ] The words were straight to the point but left a bad taste in Leo's mouth. If such a crude man was hiding among the god's temple..

"Why would you let someone like him just hide here?" Leo's question was like a knife straight to the heart of the god. The unstable emotions of the god were making it hard for him to breath so he could only force the words through his raspy breathing.

[ Have you ever seen.. what happens when a being of my height does something to affect your world? Whether I agree with his actions or not.. does not give me the right to interfere with the choices one makes in this world. ]

"I.." Leo was speechless at the words of the god. He could not argue with him because he knew the gods were too overpowered. That was why they had their own set of rules in order to exist. If they wanted to kill a god, they could not rely on other gods to simply step in unless they had no choice in the matter.

A battle between gods.. if it went badly could destroy the entire dimension itself. That's why gods can simply wander the dimension at will without the same restrains of the mortals. Gods are even able to rip holes right in the dimension itself to move from one kingdom to another in seconds if they feel lazy enough. It made it impossible to pin one's location down in the mortal kingdoms unless they wanted to live a normal life among the humans..

Most gods in the Realm of Validore however kept themselves to chosen types. There were not many gods in the dimension, but the ones that existed each were seen for their own specialty. Chynir had become the god of hell because he had fallen into dark magic. With his dark powers and personality it was natural for him to become looked at with fear and hatred.

"Which one are you? Who are you? If you don't mind me asking.. It would be nice to put a name to which god we're speaking to." Prince Leo wanted to rid himself of the uncomfortable feeling he had. The man in front of them had still not given them a name. It was already strange that he was going out of his way in order to keep them from hearing his voice.

At the sound of that question the good hesitated for a long, silent, moment. It felt as if he wasn't sure whether or not to give them his name. That hesitation did not remain as he stepped towards the wall. His complex gaze slowly turning towards Vorbuk once more as if pondering against the idea before spelling out his reply in the lights.

[ Iemis. ]

The god that stood before them spelled a single word out, his name, as he stood there illuminated in the light of the blue orbs hovering around the wall. The flowers seemed to become even more in bloom the second he came closer. It gave the feeling that the earth itself was reaching out for his attention. His calm stature never wavered as if the way the nature reacted to him had long become natural occurrence for him.

[ You can call me Iemis. ]
