The Cold-Blooded Assassin

Feeling the creature that just landed on top of him, the white wolf tried to shake the creature off his back by jerking it left and right, but the creature's claw already dug deep into his body and gripping it tightly that the creature was able to withstand the intense shaking.

'What is this creature doing?'

Although the white wolf knew that the creature just bit his neck, the bite was not strong enough to bring him down nor do fatal damage to him, so he wondered what the creature was trying to do.

5 seconds had passed and the white wolf suddenly felt that his body was slowly getting weaker and his vision started to blur slightly.

'Is this the wandering spider's venom!? But they don't have claws and they are not this heavy, what exactly is this creature?'

Even though the white wolf felt the effect of the venom on his body, he is not too worried since he knew that he is able to hold out against one dose of the wandering spider's venom with his aura ability which enhances his body. And he only felt that there is only one creature on top of his body, which means it's impossible for him to be affected because of the lacking amount of venom.

And with that, the white wolf howled and activated his aura ability. The same white aura that Matthew had seen the wolves used when fighting the boars on the first night when he came to the world appeared once again. But rather than spreading out and covering the other wolves, now that he is alone, the white aura only enveloped himself.

Along with the appearance of the aura, the white wolf muscle became denser and it started to push out the creature's claws that were stuck to his body, but he could still feel the fangs is still stuck deep inside his neck.

Once again, the white wolf tried to shake the creature off his back, and now with his enhanced muscles and the creature's claws are already pushed out of his body slightly, the white wolf succeeded in throwing off the creature flying onto the nearby bush.

Although only a glimpse, the white wolf has seen that the creature who was thrown off his body has a brown color for its skin, the same color as the tree's trunk. And being thrown into a bush that was green colored, he is sure that he will be able to catch the creature quickly.

He turned to look at the bush to hunt the little creature, but the brown-colored creature just disappeared out of nowhere and he couldn't find it.

'Don't ever think of running away! I will definitely catch you and give you a painful…'

Suddenly, when he was about to run over to the bush to try and chase the creature, he felt that his body was very weak and when he tried to move forward, but his body could not handle his own weight and made him fall over instead.

'Is this the venom!? It's impossible! I'm sure that this is the wandering spider's venom from its effect, I've been bitten by them once and this is exactly the same as last time. But how is this possible? I clearly knew my capabilities and I'm sure that one spider bite won't be enough to affect my enhanced body.'

The white wolf tried to think of the reasons why is this happening right now, and one thing came to his mind.

'No way...Is this from a high-leveled wandering spider venom… But they aren't supposed to be even near the beast territory! They should be living in the area between the outskirts and the middle of the insect's territory from what my father had told me.'

The white wolf is currently fighting the strong urge to close his eyes to try and find out who exactly just attacked him and his pack, but the creature who attacked him never showed up again. And as time passes, his body is getting weaker and weaker, and he now barely has the strength to move his legs after fighting against the venom for 10 minutes straight. But when he was on the verge of giving up, he finally saw it.

'What is a cold-blooded assassin from the deeper parts of the forest doing here!?'

He has never seen it himself, but when he was a youngling, his father had told him once that in the inner parts of the forest, near where the king of the beast lived, there is a creature that is able to perfectly blend in with the environment by changing their skin color and using their aura ability, they also lived in packs like the wolves, and they used their long and strong tongue to restrict their prey's movement and killing them with their sharp claws. And now seeing the creature in front of him, with his color now turned grass-green from the wood-brown color that he had seen earlier, and with the creature having two bulging eyes, weirdly shaped legs that looked like they have two toes and claws at the end of them. The white wolf is sure of the creature's identity.

The creature walked out of the bush that he was thrown to and it slowly walked closer to the white wolf.

'Is it here alone? Where are the other members of his pack? And why does it have the wandering spider's venom!?'

After seeing what creature he is actually dealing with, the white wolf now understood why his pack members are killed without the ability to fight back, and although he accepted his fate since the rule in the forest is the strong eats the weak, but he does have one question that he would like to ask,

'Why me? Why us? What did me and my pack do wrong to be targeted by such a creature?'

But the question sadly remained unanswered, as the chameleon used his claws to tear apart the white wolf's neck, and with the venom in effect, the white wolf could do nothing except accepting his fate.

-Level 14 Alpha Lupus Wolf Killed-

-Needed amount exp for level up reached, please evolve to further level up-

'Well, that was exhausting.' Matthew said as he shook the white wolf's blood off his claws.

'Is it only been two days since I decided to rest from doing these kinds of tiring things? But opportunities didn't come twice and that fight was very clean compared to when I was fighting the deers. If I ever tried fighting the whole pack head-on, I would be torn to pieces at this moment.'

'And that white wolf is so damn strong! I'm happy that I made the right decision to save up my venom for him. And even all of my venom couldn't kill him immediately! Even the deers with a slightly larger body can be killed instantly with a smaller amount of venom. Is it the aura ability that helped him survive? I'm glad that I picked up two venom glands instead of one! Hmm... Maybe I should add another venom gland in my next evolution?'

After killing all of the wolves, Matthew's level skyrocketed and now he is already at level 10 and he even has so much excess experience that he could only receive them after his second evolution. Matthew could go back to his nest and just evolve right after, but he will only have the spider's body parts to add to his evolution if he does it right now, so he decided to postpone his evolution until he completed the monster data for the wolves.

'But how do I eat them all…? Maybe I should add a second stomach after all...'

'Whatever, they won't enter my stomach if I think about it, they only do if I start eating!' Matthew said as he started to open up the white wolf's belly with his claws before eating the meat.

The wolf's meat is tougher than the deer's since their bodies are made up of muscles all over, but nonetheless, it is still meat and the taste is still good for Matthew's taste. As the meat entered his stomach, the notifications finally came,

-Data about Lupus Wolf Collected (2%)-

-Bionutrients Consumed-

'Wow, how do I get 2% from just one bite? Is it because the wolf's body is smaller than a deer's? Or is it because this one is special since it was the wolves' alpha? Anyways, it's a good thing and I won't complain about it!'

It took Matthew about 30 minutes to eat all of the white wolf's meat and intestines, and he actually doesn't feel very full from it,

'Are this the effect from the hunt earlier? Or is it because the deers are full of fat while the wolves are made up of protein? But I still have 4 more to eat, so no worries because the faster I can eat them, the better it is for me.'

Matthew then walked up to the light grey wolves bodies that he used for baiting the white wolf earlier and also started eating it. And his guess earlier was true, he only got one percent of monster data each bite from eating the other wolf. But after only eating the belly part, Matthew already felt full and he decided to stop eating first. And in the end, he got 53% monster data from eating the white wolf alone, and added with the monster data he got from eating the belly part of the light grey wolf, he got 60% data in total.

'And now, I once again face the same problem with the deers. Where should I store the rest of the bodies? Dragging them back to my nest is out of the option since It was so far, and it can take me about maybe an hour or two just to drag one of them back there.'

'Wait, where did these wolves come from? Their den should not be far away right?'

Matthew then tried to remember the direction from where the wolves first came from when the injured grey wolf howled for help, and then Matthew tried walking in that direction.

After only a few minutes, Matthew found a small clearing in the forest, with a huge rock that had a large hole in the middle and the hole seemed to stretch downwards then sideways standing in the middle of the clearing.

Matthew then tried checking inside the hole. The hole is actually big enough to fit a pack of wolves, and he could also see a half-eaten boar at the corner of the place.

'Well, I can surely use this place. Thanks for the donation of bodies and home, wolves. Don't worry since I will fully make use of them and not waste any of it.'
