Chapter 5

After walking for a few more minutes, we arrived at a small stone mountain with a tunnel that seemed to be the entrance to a cave. But the only thing coming out of there was a loud noise.

My sister and I approached the entrance and shouted, "Mom, we're here!" After a moment, the loud noise disappeared, and Mom came out of the tunnel.

She seemed very happy to see us, but suddenly her smile vanished, and she started looking at me before asking, "Lopu-Lopunny (Why are you carrying a Pokémon on your back?)."

"I found it on the way and wanted to take it with me. I want to try interacting with different Pokémon, and this one seemed very helpless, so I didn't have the courage to leave it to its fate," I tried to explain, but my mother kept glaring at me.

"Lopu-Lopunny (Is that really the reason you picked up a Pokémon that hasn't developed consciousness yet?)"

I started thinking faster to find an answer to her questions. "You mentioned before that if a Pokémon without consciousness interacts with Pokémon that have it, they can also develop it. So I want to see if she can do that." That's the truth, I'm not trying to create a relationship between us and wait for her to evolve to her final form to consummate it.

When it seemed like our mother was about to say something else, suddenly the Sewaddle that was cuddling on my back stopped and jumped off, stumbling on the ground. I wanted to check if she was okay, she looked at the three of us and started crying.

"I'm sorry, it wasn't our intention to scare you," even though I tried to reassure her, the tears in her eyes didn't seem to stop.

"Bune-Buneary (Wouldn't it be better to give up on her and leave her on a tree?)" my sister asked, still looking quite skeptical about the idea of me adopting a Pokémon.

This Pokémon will be my Starter, so I can't just abandon her if I want to become a Pokémon trainer.

"Lopu-Lopunny (Let Zorua stay with that Pokémon, it seems he cares a lot for it, and it's the first time Zorua has asked for something for itself)."

"Can I really keep her?!" I asked excitedly, and my mother nodded.

I looked in the direction of Sewaddle, and the only thing that occurred to me to calm her was to take her appearance, and it seemed to work because when she saw that I had turned into a Sewaddle, she stopped crying and approached me.

"Se-Sewaddle?" At first, she looked quite hesitant, but she gathered courage and touched me with her head, suddenly becoming happy.

"Sewaddle, Sewaddle, Sewaddle." When she calmed down enough, I looked at my mother and said, "I'm leaving now, I have to learn <Bite > if I don't want to lose to my sister."

My mother laughed a little before saying, "Lupo-Luponny (You'll have a bit of a tough time, but I'll be supporting you)".

"Bune-Buneary (I'll be supporting you too)," my sister encouraged me, starting to jump around.

"See you later," I said goodbye to the two of them before transforming into a Pidgey and grabbing Sewaddle from her leaf-made clothes, flying away with her. I noticed that she fainted shortly after, but it didn't matter.

In no time, I reached where the giant dog was and left Sewaddle next to several berries on the ground, putting some leaves in case she prefers them when she wakes up. It's like taking care of a pet.

"Stou-Stoutland (Why did you bring a Pokémon to this place?)" the giant dog asked with some curiosity.

I was just petting Sewaddle using my legs and replied to the giant dog "I plan to keep this Pokémon."

"Stou-Stoutland (If you want to eat Pokémon meat, I recommend trying pure bug or flying types. The one you caught must taste like disgusting grass. Also, be careful about eating poisonous ones, they give stomach damage." I was stunned for a moment hearing what he said.

"I don't plan on eating her, I want to keep her and see if she develops consciousness." I'm not going to tell him that I aspire to be a Pokémon trainer.

He glanced at me and sighed before telling me "Stou-Stoutland (You're quite curious. If you want to get involved with more conscious Pokémon, you should consider letting yourself be caught by a human. But that would mean distancing yourself from your mother and your sister or letting them be caught by the same human).

"Can't I just turn into a human and blend in with them?" I asked because I wanted to confirm if it was at least possible.

"Stou-Stoutland (Well, it is possible. The problem is that you're a wild Pokémon, and you would behave differently from humans, so you might get exposed, and many Pokémon trainers would try to catch you with their Poké Balls. And if they can't catch you by throwing Poké Balls, they'll attack you using other Pokémon to beat you up and then catch you when you faint."

"If I steal Poké Balls, can I use them to catch other Pokémon?" I wanted to see if it was possible to use them as a Pokémon.

"Stou-Stoutland (If you can change your appearance to that of a human, it's possible because Poké Balls are made to recognize fingerprints, or a way to explain it since you have no knowledge of this would be that they can recognize human fingers and differentiate them from Pokémon).

I got excited hearing this, I can have my own team of pokewaifus.

"But..." Before I could continue with this conversation, the giant dog got upset and said.

"Stou-Stoutland (You're asking too many questions, don't try to deceive me. I know you want to postpone and avoid training)." I had to redirect my efforts to get more information and approached him, waiting for him to grab me with his mustache so he could start biting me.

"Stou-Stoutland (Watch closely, <Bite > is a dark-type move, and you're a dark-type Pokémon, so learning it won't cost you too much, as it was with <fire fang> in case you don't learn it today, tomorrow I'll start attacking you with <Bite >. So give it your best to achieve it)." After saying that, he picked up a rock with his mustache and threw it in the air near his mouth, then, his fangs started to emit a small glow, and he bit the stone, breaking it with ease.

"Stou-Stoutland (That's it, I'll take a nap) Cough, cough." That's what he said before closing his eyes and leaving me very confused.

How does he want me to imitate it? It's like telling someone who doesn't know how to cook to add half a cup of sugar, a little water, and such to someone who has no idea how to cook.

It's not like I can complain to someone much more powerful than me.

I could only sigh and try it, maybe I should try and repeat the same feeling I have when using <fire fang> only replacing the fire with dark-type energy or at least that's what I think.

After many hours, I finally managed to do it, while biting a wooden stick until I could break it.

I looked in the direction of Sewaddle to see her enjoying life surrounded by leaves and berries. I approached her and transformed into a Sewaddle, and when she saw me change my body, she tried to grab a berry with her mouth before putting it in front of me and trying to invite me to eat.

"Se-Sewaddle"

She may not understand it right now, but I will make sure she develops correctly and worthy of being my first Pokémon on my journey as a Pokémon trainer. Who needs to find a partner when you can capture a whole group of Pokémon?
