23 Chapter 23- The S Tournament- Grit
The crowd cheered and whistled.
"June Raynan defeats Samuel Gage." The announcer declared. "She moves on to face Elizabeth Tonan in the next round."
Reid took a deep breath to clear his mind. He was up next. He knew he couldn't afford to lose, not this early anyway, and he wanted to fight Luke so badly. In a way, he felt like he had to prove something to him. Luke has been his villainous figure to Reid ever since he enrolled, but he knew that Luke also had the same determination as him, they both aimed for the top of the summit. But he had to get through the task at hand first. He needs to beat James Manstin first.
Reid came in from the west tunnel. The two opponents stared down at each other. Storm adjusted his posture to look and observe closely.
"You got this Red," Insunya cheered.
Reid smiled.
"In a minute, I'm going to wipe that smile off your face," James declared. "Claiming that you're going to become Paladin, you should know your own place,"
"And what's my place exactly?" Reid asked.
"3,"
"2,"
"1,"
"Fight!!"
"That is beneath my feet," James screamed at him, charging.
"Earth bind- Stone bullets," -James.
"Earth bind- barrier"- Reid.
The wall held up against the swarm of stone bullets.
Reid felt James orizambi behind him and dodged his punch on time.
Red fell back.
"He's going all out right at the start, not wasting any time whatsoever," Red thought. "I can finish him with a lightning release, but I don't know if I'll recover in time. I could use that move.."
Red shook his head. "I need to learn more about it first,"
"You shouldn't be contemplating in a fight with me," James said.
"Very well then," Red nodded.
"Come to me, Starfall,"- Reid.
The two katanas appeared in his hands.
"No more defending," Red said in his mind. "I attack this time,"
"Earth bind- Shockwave" -James
Red struck his katanas into the ground.
"Perfect," he thought.
He waited for the perfect moment.
"Not now, not now,"
He was planning to use the Shinrai style against him. He's going to convert James orizambi shockwave, into his own move.
He waited to feel a slight touch of his orizambi.
"Now," He thought.
"Shinrai style sword art- Decomposition,"
The shocks beneath the earth stopped.
"What the hell," James said.
Reid took out his katanas, and the tip was glowing.
"Shinrai style sword art- recomposition,"
"Fire bind- Majestic dancing flames,"
The flames roared out from the katanas.
"Earth bind- great walls" - James
Giant walls spawned in front of the roaring flames. The fire broke them down one after the other.
Reid charged at him while he was distracted.
Reid was fast.
"He'll be too distracted with the flames, then I strike,"
"Earth bind- Great golems,"
The floor broke up into giant golems.
"This dude isn't giving up,"
The golems roared.
"There are 4 four of them, I'll finish them off," Red thought. "No holding back now eh,"
"Orizambi art- lightning enhancement,"- Red
Red was quicker, more agile, and stronger.
He sliced through the golems with ease.
"Air bind- Wind slicer,"-Red.
"Air bind- Great wind release"- Red.
The air cut through James and blew him into the walls.
Red flash stepped in front of him. Then drew his sword against him.
"Yield," He said.
"To you? Not a chance," James said, trying to catch his breath.
"You're out of Orizambi, and I've barely scratched the surface of mine," Red said. "You've fought greatly,"
"Who the hell are you anyways, a sector boy who has lightning style? And have a mastery of the 4 elements? The hell is this."
"Just a boy who aims for the summit," Reid said.
"Is that so," James sighed. "I have been defeated, I guess there's more to you than meets the eye sector boy,"
James held his head up.
"I used all my orizambi in that shockwave attacked, and you used Shinrai style against me. I've lost." He shook his head. "I yield,"
"James Manstin has yielded, Reid Flannel wins,"
Insunya screamed and cheered.
"That's my boy," Aunt Mary said in the stands.
"Go Red," Bell cheered.
Roman smiled.
Reid felt a denser orizambi behind him.
"Not bad for a fraud," Luke said. "I guess I have to do it myself then,"
"Let's make it more interesting," Red smirked. "The loser has to become the winners' servant for a week," Reid declared.
"He's being stupid again," Bell said.
"You just wanna humiliate yourself huh, gives me a chance to put you in your place," Luke said.
"My place huh, not the first time I've heard that today," Red smiled. The drew his katana.
"I promise you Luke Mantriel, I will not lose," Reid declared.
