Chapter 7: Morning

Sitting in front of her behind the one-way glass, was a man Aliyah had never seen before. He looked to be no older than sixteen. She was simultaneously relieved and concerned. Part of her was pleased not to be looking upon the man from the filling station. But she was concerned for two reasons: the guy who attacked her must have gotten away, and she realized that she had no idea how many people had made their way into the manor. She also felt a little sad, seeing as this kid was so young and already involved with some questionable people.

She swallowed a hard lump in her throat. “I don’t recognize him,” she told the officers.

They asked if she was sure and she nodded.
