10 Chapter 10: You can save your breath

"Prime Minister Jiang... it seems that your daughter is quite unwilling to admit her mistakes. Even if I sit here all day, I will not be able to see a single sign of remorse." Madam Cha's sharp eyes exuded an intimidating aura.

Jiang Zhenfeng could feel chills running down his back. That daughter of his was usually the apple of his eyes. What happened that caused her to become so daring and unruly today??

Su Rushi was just as terrified... Even though the Su Family was one of the most prominent and wealthiest in the capital, if she wanted her daughter to have a good future, she would still have to bow her head to these important figures who were not swayed by money nor power. Yet, her daughter had gone and directly destroyed her own future!

"Yingyi, what are you doing? Immediately get on your knees and apologise!"

Only then did Yingyi break out of her trance... She immediately dropped to the ground and bowed her head down, begging for forgiveness.

"Madam Cha... Madam Cha... I..."

She was sharply cut off. " You can save your breath. I don't need an apology from the likes of you... Only 12 years old, and already such a vicious child. What will become of you when you grow up..."

At this point, Yingyi was in tears. Her reputation and pride had all been thoroughly stepped on. She could only bow her head and shed tears as she lamented her future... or lack thereof.

"Prime Minster Jiang. I believe I have already fulfilled your wishes by coming here today. Since the test is over, I will take my leave. If there's anything else, please relay it to Court Lady Yi. I believe you will have quite a bit to clean up in your family... And if you decide that you can't educate your daughter properly, then I will. After all, my people will have... methods." Her lips curved into a smile that radiated a sinister chill.

Jiang Zhenfeng's throat was now so dry that his mouth could barely form words. Initially, he had begged her to come here, so that his two elder daughters could be acknowledged officially, but this result was just too unexpected!

The fact that not only both of his talented daughters had been ignored, but also his infamously useless daughter had somehow received acknowledgement, was like a slap to his face. On top of that insult, his precious eldest daughter had made the Jiang family into a joke in front of one of the most influential women in the capital... how were they to drag themselves out of that hole?!

Madam Cha gracefully stood and took one last glance at the tragic scene of the 'prominent' family. Without bothering to entertain Jiang Zhenfeng with another smile, she turned around and left, completely ignoring the distraught girl who was still bowed on the ground.

As she passed by Concubine Lu, she gave her a meaningful look before continuing on as if nothing had happened. Although others might not have noticed, Yingyue's keen eyes understood that look... they must have known each other from before!

With that departure, he, Jiang Zhenfeng, realised that he had never been so humiliated in all of his life.

His gazed never once shifted from the retreating figure of the woman who exuded pure authority, until she was far out of sight. He realised then, that she hadn't even given him face by allowing him to escort her out of his residence.

His air of authority had completely vanished along with his pride that had been trampled on. He fell back against his chair helplessly, not knowing what to do next...

A long time later, he was still firmly attached to his seat, deep in his despair when Su Rushi's voice brought him back to his senses.

"Jiang Zhenfeng..." She didn't dare to speak too loudly as she feared that he would turn against her and blame her... After all, it was her own daughter that was the cause of today's tragedy...

"Ah... yes..." slumped against the chair, he sat up slowly, his senses still withered by the shock that he had just endured.

"Su Rushi... You take your daughter back and educate her. I don't want to see her face before she has learnt some manners and common sense. If there is to be another event like today, I may as well resign from my post as Left Prime Minister."

Su Rushi immediately gestured at Yingyi's maids and two of them promptly helped Yingyi stand up... It was a miracle that there was no lecture, nor punishment today, so Su Rushi had to quickly take the opportunity to rush out of there with both of her children.

Yingyi had been in the bowed position for so long that her legs were as numb as her mind and it even seemed like she had forgotten how to walk... It's was like dragging a disabled person out of that place!

Seeing this, Su Rushi's heart hurt. Although her daughter had said those things, if it were not for that vixen's daughter, she would not have needed to say it. Yingyi was the talented beauty of the capital! If that conniving Yingyue had not stolen the limelight by cheating, it was obvious that her own daughter would be the one with the recommendation!

While leaving the hall, she still made sure to spare a hateful glare for Lu Jiayi [1] and her daughter. The pair of them were both sly foxes! One stole her husband back then, and another ruined her daughter's future now... She would pay this favour back to them a hundred times worse!

While Lu Jiayi lowered her head and shrunk away, Yingyue met Su Rushi's glare with calm eyes that were as deep as a lake... not a single ripple could be seen...

Su Rushi's expression held traces of surprise... Those eyes... they were such powerful eyes that held a threatening aura! Even after leaving the hall, she could not forget those pair of eyes that seemed to see into her soul as if they could unveil all her secrets.

Soon enough, she shook off that feeling. There was no way that a lowly 10 year old child could have such an expression... it was simply her mind playing tricks on her...
