Policewoman; Morie

The mirror kept calling me like that.

I couldn't do anything but look at it from different angles because I wasn't sure if I could touch it or not, what if I touched this and it shattered completely and turned into dust?

I could phase through mirrors that was for sure but I didn't think of touching any mirror since I kept getting the thought that it might shatter completely or I would be possessed by the 'Mirror Spirit' and many more risks.

...

Later, I finally decided to touch it and see what happens.

To test what happens with the mirrors when I touch them with my hands, I tried to touch a mirror near where I was floating which was also nothing special but it was just a normal mirror and wasn't calling me.

I touched it.

I was shocked that even my hand phased through it like it was thin air.

"What the f*ck?" I asked no one.

I tried touching the mirror again and again panicky, but my hand always phased through.

SERIOUSLY WHAT THE F*CK... I shouted after some time of thinking.

I was getting angry and confused.

What is going on with me? Why did I phase through every mirror I have yet encountered? Why do I even phase? Is this not reality?

I've been here for some time, but everything I tried or did kept making me think it was not real.

Thoughts like was I going to live eternity like this? doing nothing except roaming in space with seeing memories of the past I never did?

It scared me.

...

I barely calmed myself and got rid of these thoughts.

I of course tried it with other mirrors except that one but I always phased through.

But the mirror never stopped calling me.

It was almost like a living entity with its voice and presence. Every time I came close to it, it started calling me like a living being.

I finally decided to touch the mirror.

Since nothing happened to other mirrors except me phasing through, I thought the worst could be me phasing through it too.

It was too tempting I couldn't stop myself for too long. There would be a time I would touch it so why not touch it right now?

I went close to it. The voice started calling me as usual saying, "Come here and look inside".

I put my right hand in front of it's thumbnail.

I touched it with my index finger.

My mind suddenly went blank. It was almost like the world I was in. Empty filled with whiteness. It was like I was thinking of nothing.

...

"!"

Astonishment.

I was astonished, and shocked to see what I was looking at...

It was no more the blank world (where I had been roaming the whole time), but, how do I explain this? But it was a world.

A world I was familiar with.

A world which I knew almost everything about.

A world where I had spent most of my time in.

A world I could still live in.

"Still?" You might ask.

It is because It was where I was born.

Where I was from birth.

It was my world, where I had died.

Yes, you got it right, not the one where I was till now. But the world where I had been from birth to 'Death', if that is what you call it.

'Huh? What is going on?' I thought.

It took me so long to realize where I was that I didn't even care to look at what was happening in front of me.

As I've seen in the Memory Thumbnail—that is what I've started calling it—and the exact stuff that I had seen in it, was happening in front of me.

The thief running in front of me; holding a handbag. The crowd in the market.

I'm running as a... WHAT.

I was again shocked by another fact, I'd thought that only the world changed to normal but who knew, even I changed. I was a Policewoman.

I remembered very clearly that I had been a guy my entire life, and yet, I got reincarnated (again) as a woman.

I never really talked to women in my past life, if I recall, I was most of the time shy in front of most humans... Now is not the time to be sad about my past though.

Coming back to the point, now that I was a Policewoman, of course, it was my duty to help the old lady by getting the handbag back from the thief. And to do that, I had to pay attention to the thief; not my thoughts.

The thief suddenly turned right to a small and tight alleyway. It was so fast that if I tried to turn, I would slip and fall.

But, something miraculous happened.

Suddenly I turned. Unknowingly. Unintentionally. Unwontedly.

I turned without even knowing. It was almost like I was not controlling myself.

That happened in rows, five to six times again, and again.

I was amazed by this but also horrified. What if I am possessed? Well, I am already inside an innocent policewoman, would be pretty crazy to have two people inside your body.

Anyways, back to the point, why was I moving unconsciously even though I was awake? I was not horrified, but peculiar about it.

How does this work?

Well, even though I was moving without my permission, I concluded that maybe I wasn't actually in control of the body fully.

I could see, I could feel, yet, I was not fully in control. Just like how a company isn't a partner even with 49% shares of it.

I was either not ready to control it myself, or it was just the body not giving me control. It had to be one of the reasons. And I believe it is the latter.

Not like I wanted control anyway.

But why was I even in her body in the first place? I just saw her through the Memory Thumbnail for the first time. Why was this? And how could I even see her memory through the glass?

Questions began to rise continuously.

Flowed one after another.

But I could do nothing except just assume the answers.

I started paying attention to the road again where the thief was running. Well no more, I suppose.

He was already caught when I looked at the world and nothing outrageous because I had seen the outcome way before that. In the Memory Thumbnail.

Wait, was I living in the past? Alternatively, a dream? How could I have seen the outcome of something that I've never given attention to before?

Never mind, now is not the time to fall into deep questions that have no change to the current moment.

After catching him, She (the policewoman, unconsciously to me) gave the bag to the old lady and handed the thief to the Grazi Nport Police Department Station #85921—in this world, the earth isn't the same, not a fantasy one but also not the one you all know of—, where she is currently working in.

Nothing new, just daily activities.

But why? Why me? How could I have possessed her? And why was I even inside her?

I had been killed. Reincarnated into a blank world with other's memories that seemed like mine own. But when I touched one, I had been once again, reincarnated into the person.

It just doesn't make any sense.

While I was questioning everything, the lady... You know what? I should tell you her name.

What was it? Let me think...

Yeah, her name is Morie, Morie Semmer.

Not crazy, just a normal person with a normal name.

While I was blabbering to myself, Morie had left the station and was on the way to a place she goes daily after her duty. A Dountry. Yes, I know you all are asking, 'What is a Dountry, and what is it doing here?' However, as I said, it is not the Earth you all remember. But, a unique one.

Let me explain what a Dountry is: Basically, a bank for experience. It is used by almost every person and every profession.

There are different 'Ranks' for every profession. Or for gamers, 'Levels'.

Every profession can be done by the one suitable for it. You have to be born with the suitability, you can never acquire the suitability if you're not born with it.

'But what about studying? Do people even study in this world?' Yes, they do (and yes, I create questions myself, and answer them myself). But not for different professions but for knowledge of their pre-determined profession. After they get to a certain age when they are certain of what profession they are born with. They study to gain more knowledge of it. Furthermore, when they can work, they start working and every time they work, they are given experience points depending on how much work they have done.

That works the same for every profession as I said.

Doctory—Healer, in here: First, you start learning it, then providing physical help to others, and as your experience starts to grow, you 'Leve Up' and become a better healer. That same rule applies to every profession.

There are approximately four ranks in each profession, no less, no more.

After getting the Experience Points (EXP, for short) for the work you've provided the world with. You go to a Dountry. There, you store the EXP in your account. With enough EXP, you will be able to Level Up, it is still your choice if you want to level up, though.

Or, you can use the EXP to buy and sell materialistic things, these are also cash equivalents, though you cannot buy expensive things. If you start buying expensive things, your Level will never level up, while the selling party will not have to do any work but just sell expensive items for only EXP. That is why; the government has banned buying expensive items with EXP.

It is still unknown where the EXP comes from, but, the center of the world, often known as, The Playeter Cameron, is continuously supplying it from the Era of Legends, or when humans found out about the EXP stuff. There is never a shortage of EXP, and never a wrong supply of EXP.

The Playeter Cameron, where most of the orders come from, is the top government of the entire planet, and none can defy its orders.

There can never be a stealing or corruption of EXP, since the EXP itself chooses who is worthy and who is not. Yes, you heard it right; it is even though being an inanimate object can choose others. Foolish people sometimes even say that it has a mind of its own and will be using us as his servants in the future (what a stupid conspiracy theory).

It chooses who has done enough work and then goes with the person, and if the person is lying, presenting false proof of something he has not done, it even finds mischief. It then does not go with the person and some calamity occurs out of nowhere to stop the person from taking it away. That is why; there can never be any corruption with EXP.

It is fully unknown why it acts in such a way and where it originates from, but it is safe since the top government itself supplies it.

At present, Morie had reached the Dountry—a building very similar to a bank in the Earth.

There, Morie straight went to the EXP collector.

'Caught one more guy trying to steal an Old Lady's Handbag today, can you store the EXP in my account? And can you tell me how much it needs more?' Morie asked the EXP collector to store the EXP in her account.

'Again? Seems like this week's been pretty down for the lower markets that every day there is a thief stealing something.' assumed Kailly since this was not the city known for thieves, this was the 2nd robbery in this week alone, and still 1 day left in the week.

'Yeah, I know, thieves as always, never get enough of anything. I heard they found out about the Panly Mkoast, that's why they are increasing.' Morie answered.

Kailly only listened half as she had hardly started putting her focus on the EXP of Morie.

See, EXP isn't tangible, it works as an intangible asset and thus, the whole time, Morie was not carrying the EXP, but, just walking casually, EXP automatically got attached to the person; floating. Normal eyes could never see it. Only people related to the finance profession could see EXP, as it is a cash equivalent. In addition, some Mages—Level 3, to be precise. Kailly was related to finance, so she could easily see the EXP floating around others. That was the most basic ability of the finance profession.

Suddenly, an invisible barrier had been made around Morie, she could move, talk, and listen, the barrier was not fixed to the place; but to the person. She did not pay much attention to the barrier, as if it had been common.

Kailly, on the other hand, was also fixed on the barrier; she only paid attention to the barrier. The barrier was invisible to everyone but her.

It seemed like the barrier was collecting the EXP around Morie, stealing it from her, after a while, the barrier came to got closer to Morie's chest and Kailly forced it into her body, like she forcefully made Morie absorb it, 'And Done.' Kailly said to her, 'Now, tell me what you mean by Panly Mkoast? Also, is that not only supposed to be accessible to only Mages?' she added.

'It's long, plus I am tired today, can I tell you later?' Morie replied—she actually looked tired, not because of the chase, but because she had been getting less and less sleep daily. 'And how much does it need to level up?' she added.

Kailly looked closely at Morie and searched.

'Your current EXP is approx 49,593 and you need 50,407 more EXP to level up to Rank 2 (officer)' Kailly paused for a second and then continued, 'You earned 608 EXP this whole week and today you earned 234 EXP alone.'

'Seems like it'll need my entire life to level up to rank 3, this city needs more crime,' Morie replied. Kailly seemed to notice the humor but ignored it.

Morie said her goodbyes and left the Dountry.

Sorry everyone, but this is just how I write. I am lazy to describe buildings, Places; Not everytime though, I describe important stuff but not everything.
