172 The Demon Captain (2)

"A human?" The Demon spoke, tilting its head to the right with a wide malicious grin on its face. "Hey there, I'm Goro!"

Link didn't answer. He had a serious expression as he sensed the pressure coming off of the Demon. Skills kept forming in his head, activating all the ones he needed and trying to come up with a plan at the same time.

WOSH!

Link appeared behind Goro while in mid air, flipping and sending a kick towards his head. Goro didn't even flinch, taking the hit straight on.

"Not much of a talker i assume!" Goro smiled. His head slowly started turning around, doing a 180 degree turn.

"The fuck!" Link frowned. Shivers went up his back, as he felt repulsed.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Like a flash, Link moved around, sending kicks and punches at Goro, creating shockwaves around.

Goro did not move a muscle, taking every hit. The smile on his face did not waver, looking at Link in the eyes.

With all the support Skills on, Link was a blur, but none of his attacks seemed to be having any effect.

BAM!

The terrifying demon finally moved, grabbing Link's leg, and like he was nothing, Goro left him dangling in the air.

"Got you!" He spoke, throwing Link on the ground, destroying the dark red floor. A giant crater appeared in the area as smoke and debris flew everywhere.

"Sneaky bug!" Goro snarled, looking at the spot Link was supposed to be. "Come on out now, don't be shy, little human!" Goro yelled.

BOOM!

A crimson crescent strike flashed at Goro, awakening all of his survival instincts. He didn't understand where this attack came from and how he did not even detect it, but he knew very well that if he failed to dodge, his body would disintegrate into nothing.

BAM!

The muscles in Goro's legs bulged, as they grew 5 times in size. The ground couldn't bear the pressure and crumbled under his foot with ease.

WOSH!

Goro barely managed to dodge at the last second, feeling the heat and power of the attack brush by him. On the right side of his back, Goro's skin and flesh was gone. Like it was erased by an eraser.

"It's a Level 8 Archmage.. I need to leave!!" Goro felt fear of the mysterious and powerful Magician. He didn't know where they were, which only worsened his anxiety.

A black horn appeared in Goro's hand, glowing dimly in the darkness. A reaction accrued in the space around as his body slowly faded.

"I'll remember your smell, human!" Goro's last words echoed in the area before he disappeared.

A few seconds passed, but nothing happened...

Another few minutes went by, and the area seemed silent and calm with the exception of the dying pawns in the background.

After an hour, Link finally appeared, jumping out of the darkness. He took a deep breath and sighed. "It wasn't a trick or a trap then. That demon really ran away with his tail between his legs!" Link laughed before finishing off the rest of the Pawns. The Exp notifications never stopped appearing since he first made his move, but he only managed to Level up only once. This made him feel a little happy, seeing that he is finally making some progress.

Link consumed the Mana Cores and put all of the Pawn corpses in his Inventory before leaving the Realm, fearing for Goro to return again and finish the job.

Outside, the King and the rest of the Master Mages were still watching the portals in silence. With their Mana Sense, they didn't fail to notice the Mana fluctuations and the fight happening inside, plus with the ending of the Demon screams and the sounds of explosions, They knew that whatever was happening in there ended and were awaiting for the person responsible to leave.

Wosh!

A figure flew out of the portals and floated on the top of the Dome. Link knew that he had to wait until the Dome is removed and not attempt to break it, or he'll be seen as the enemy.

After a few seconds, the Dome started to dim slowly, opening a way for Link to enter.

"It was you!" The King smiled. "How did you manage to get in?" He asked.

"I snuck into one of the Portals" Link lied as he pointed at the now closing portals in the air. They slowly stitched themselves together, leaving no traces of them ever being there.

"You did good!" The King commended. "Go back home for now, but i will need a report of your experience in details"

"Yes, your Highness!" Link bowed slightly and left.

"Your Highness!" A man with a giant white beard and a long Mage robe spoke. "Why did you not say anything?" He asked. "We all know that we're unable to enter the portals, as we do not have the correct spell or coordinates and the Realm on the other side does not allow external lifeforms!"

"What I do know is that he is on our side" The King said. "Either be it a secret he can't share, or he actually doesn't realize the repelling effect exists, I do not mind. If it is something he can share, he would have or will!!" The King turned to the Mages. "Return the Dome, we got lucky this time and finished the Artifact, but many innocent people died today.. They shall receive a proper burial and honoring!"

"Understood!" All the Mages spoke at once before vanishing. The King stood there in the air by himself, looking down on his Kingdom with a pitiful look. The Light around his body increased in strength before vanishing, his expression was one of loneliness and fear.

...

"LINK!" Anny ran to the figure that appeared a few feet from her with tears in her eyes. "WHERE WERE YOU?" She yelled, still hugging him.

"I was training, mom!" Link spoke. "Did anything happen to Lisa and Rena?" Seeing the tears in his mothers eyes, he became worried as well. This was not the first time he was away from home, but his mother's reaction was concerning.

"IT'S L-LISA... SHE WAS HIRED TO TEACH KIDS SOME MAGIC IN THE ACADEMY!!" She spoke through her sobs. "I HEARD THE ACADEMY WAS BOMBED AND A LOT OF PEOPLE DIED, AND LISA DID NOT RETURN YET AND NEITHER DID I HEAR ANYTHING FROM HER!!!"

Link's face darkened before vanishing, heading towards the Academy as fast as he could!!
