140 King Diol!

Saya vanished for a couple of hours, which left Link and the rest to chat by themselves. Link learned a lot about the enemy kingdom and Xardas, its king.

The Inolid Kingdom had some issues with the Rechanguard Kingdom, but their conflicts never led to deaths and distraction, they were like children fighting over food and toys, that was all. Xardas started losing too much, with his territory not really offering enough resources, which led to this situation. They are calling the unfolding events the final struggles of a king, which fit very well.

Later on, Saya returned, with a lot of information. It turned out that the Layer jumping ability was not a technique but an artifact left behind by one of the Gods. None of Saya's sources knew how they were able to use it, since this kingdom had some artifacts of their own but they were nothing but decorations since the Gods took them back, sealing everything.

"Zero, is there a skill in the shop that allows me to travel the same way?" Link muttered to himself away from the rest.

<Layer jumping is not simple ,Link. even if there was a skill with a similar function in the shop, i'm sure you won't be able to afford it>

"Doesn't matter, i'll save up or something. Search for it first and then we'll deal with the price later" And with that, the team was done there, but before they left, Saya handed Link a Ring. It was white with the black gem in the middle being shaped like an eye.

"What is this?" Link asked, confused.

"That is a communication ring" Saya continued. "I was a little late because I was trying to get my hands on one. The mages guild approved it"

"Mages Guild?" Link frowned "What do you mean approved?"

"You think anybody can have that?" Saya smiled "I put in a good word for you. With this, you'll be able to contact anyone who registers his Mana onto the Ring. I already put mine in, we'll be in touch" She explained quickly before teleporting with the rest.

Link looked at the Ring for a bit, took a deep breath and activated Dungeon Search, uncaring about it. It was not like he didn't appreciate the gift, but he knew that Saya had something in mind, especially after seeing him go all out when fighting her team. "I should have been more careful" He muttered.

After some good dungeon raids, Link teleported back home, detecting an odd Mana in the house. "Who the hell is that?" He thought to himself as he went down the stairs. On the sofa, having some coffee with Anny and Samuel was Kali.

"Ah, your friend's back!" Kali said before Link emerged from the stairs. "Hey Link" Anny spoke.

"Link, i wanted to introduce someone to you" Samuel spoke "This is Kali, my master!"

"Hello!" Kali reached out his hand for a handshake, which Link accepted.

"Nice to meet you" Link smiled. It was his first time meeting the man face to face, but he already knew about him a while ago. With his Psight, Link detected him the day he appeared and started interacting with Samuel, which made Link watch him until he was sure that he was not a threat.

Samuel wanted to tell Link about Kali a while ago, but he never got the chance. Link was always busy with something or another and he did not want to disturb him. This was his thought process until recently Kali suggested a meeting.

Link was an anomaly to Kali. A peasant from nothing keeps advancing with incredible speed while also being busy crafting potions and scrolls. People normally would only be able to focus on one thing, but Link has been doing them all.

The moment their hands made contact, a message appeared in front of Link.

<Intrusive Mana detected>

<Block? Yes / No>

Link accepted without hesitation. He looked at Kali as he did and he could clearly see the confusion on the man's face. "That wasn't very nice" Link declared, keeping the same friendly smile on his face.

"Haha!" Kali forced a small laugh out. "You can't blame an old man for being curious" He said while pulling his hand back.

"Hey Zero, what did he just try to do? Give me the details" Link thought.

<It's some kind of a scanning spell. Harmless. This man was trying to figure you out. The seed detected a small chance of exposure and activated its defenses… His Mana should be dry due to the failure of the spell, if you want to kill him, this is your chance>

"He's Samuel's master, I can't do that, especially not in front of everyone" Link grabbed a couple of potions out of his Inventory and handed them to Kali as he sat down across from him. "But that doesn't mean i'll let him go next time"

Kali looked at the potions in his hands then looked at Link, that was when a small smile appeared on his face. "This kid is saying that he knows i'm out of Mana, and that he's choosing to help me" Kali thought to himself, drinking them.

"Why did you give master potions Link?" Samuel asked, seeing what happened in front of him confused.

"Ah, don't worry about it" Link said "They're only gifts" He said with a smile.

The group conversed for a while before Kali said his goodbyes and left. Samuel and Link hang out for a bit more and then each went to his own room.

<He seems nice now, but he might become a hindrance in the future Link. You should have done something about him when you had the chance>

"What's with the aggressiveness?" Link asked.

<Don't know! But i don't like him>

The night passed smoothly as the sun appeared, looking over the Kingdom with an ominous light.

Why ominous you ask?

That is because the usual sun was no longer yellow. The color red covered the area, making everyone alert. In the sky, the sound of a glass breaking awoke all who still slept, as a voice boomed from the small dark tear.

"Diol, your rule over these lands is fated to end soon" The voice went silent for a bit before declaring "FOR WE ARE HERE"

The ground started to shake, and the sounds of pig squeals filled the sky. Horns of mysterious sources blew from afar.

"What in god's name is that?" Link muttered, looking at the creature that slowly started to appear. Its nose was huge. Bigger than a building. With every breath it took, winds blew over the small houses. Its head started to appear slowly. Pushing through..

"Is that a dragon?" Link opened his eyes wide as he saw the full head finally make it through. The eyes were two horizontal slits, darker than the night sky. Its scales were black, smoking nonstop. Its horns were tangled together, sprouting everywhere as if they were branches of a tree. Its mouth was a hell hole of teeth. Sending shivers down Link's spine.

Slowly, the sounds of people panicking filled the streets, as everyone was trying to leave at the same time, creating chaos even before anything happened.

People flew from the main castle. Their wings were of various colors. They approached the creature and started attacking it, trying their best to force it back.

"Am I gonna need to Teleport all our village folk out of here?" Link muttered to himself.

<What about the rest?>

"Does that thing look like it'll let me get everyone else out? I'll save my family and the people from our village first, after that, i'll see what i can do" Before Link could make another move. A man appeared in front of him with wings on his back and a letter in his hand.

"Magician Link. This is a royal command" He spoke straight away without saying anything else "The king offered refuge to your village. Now he needs your help. Please join the defending force in battle" He finished his sentence and left after leaving the letter on the window frame.

"That bastard king knew this would happen? Was that why he offered the villagers refuge here?" Link thought to himself, grabbing the letter and opening it.

'Dear Link of Toula.

I understand that you might be angry due to my means. But you have to understand that I have to do anything to protect my kingdom and my people.

I suspected such a thing might happen, which was why I prepared this letter in advance for when they come. Please assist me and my guards in defending. I will reward you with anything you want if you successfully manage to be of help.

I know you're but only a student, and a first year at that, but from what i've heard, you are more than capable of making a difference.

Please do not abandon us.

King Diol'

"This guy sure made it sound like i'm a god or something" Link muttered, putting the letter away in his Inventory. "I'll leave Samuel to take care of things here. He spoke of rewards. Maybe if i'm able to actually do something, i can ask for high Level gear"

Link ran to Samuel's room and informed him of what to do. He said nothing to his family as to not worry them. After that, he started Blinking into the chaos.
