108 Han and Lucy!

Psychic Energy is the opposite of Mana. Mana could only be generated and used by relying on the World Energies.

Humans are like containers, whereas Mana is the water. When that water is used, the container needs to be filled again, and to do that a source is needed, which is the World Energy..

While on the other hand, People are both the containers and the source of water for the Psychic Energy, due to The Psychic Core that generates it.

For someone that unlocked their Psychic abilities. They will notice great improvements in their brain functions. They become smarter and quick witted. Making them stand above others in talent and intelligence.

What Link experienced when he first unlocked his Psychic Energy was a phenomenon called the Psychic Sight (or "Psight" for short). Through sounds, smells and many other factors, the brain naturally creates visual images, which was what Link was seeing. Though the Level of what he experienced was tiers above his peers. And that was all because of 'The Story of Genes'

This Technique improved all his senses and physique to astonishing levels. Ones beyond even the top talents of the mortal world. His enhanced sense of smell, hearing and instincts allowed his Psight to view everything that was happening around him with crystal clear vision reaching hundreds of feet.

Link sat on a tree, his eyes closed.

"This is amazing Zero" He spoke in a low voice.

<This is impressive. You can even see the ants colony under the ground like you're there>

Link took a deep breath. He felt at peace as he looked all over. From the water drop sliding down a light green leaf. Falling into the dirt, slowly going through each spec with elegance. To the piece of red fruit being fought for by 4 insects Link couldn't recognize.

Woof!

Zasho called out to Link from underneath the tree. It was done with its meal.

"You ready?" Link looked down "Alright, let's go"

The trip back to his room did not take long. He sat on a chair, with a desk in front of him. A giant Map sat with drawings and markings.

Link bought this Map awhile back. He had been planning on leaving this place since he became a Level 3 Mage. He wanted to hunt stronger Monsters and earn as much Exp and Mana as he could before returning to the Academy.

Most of the powerful Creatures in the area were mostly Level 3, while a few Level 4 creatures could be found deeper in. But the rarity of those Level 4 is what bothers him.

Link gets 1 000 to 1 500 Exp from Level 3 Creatures. Which was an extremely low number considering the 1 000 000 Exp he needs for a Level Up. Although he could grind and hunt non stop until he Levels Up, but that needed time, and that is the one thing Link could not afford.

The Test has a time limit. The Teachers explained that when it was time, all students would get a signal. The emblem given to them will shine, and break by itself. Alerting the Teachers of their location which prompts someone to move and pick them up.

Link wanted to kill stronger Creatures. He'll get twice the Exp of a single Level 3 by killing a Level 4 Monster. And that was his plan since the time to leave same closer, but now it has changed. There are Level 5 Creatures right here.

Link was not interested in the Exp, but he wanted one thing, a Skill. With a Skill from a Level 5 creature. Link would be set for a while. But fighting 3 Level 5 Ghouls was out of the question.

"I need a plan" Link muttered, putting the Map away as he started scribbling onto a piece of paper.

Morning came. Link left the Inn, walking from store to store. He bought Spell Rings, Scrolls and many other items. He made sure to put the 10 000 GC needed for the test to the side.

Link needed to get each Ghoul by itself and fight it separately, but that was nearly impossible in that place. It was a cave, dark and not big enough to lead one of them away. On top of that, outside was not an option either. Having a Ghoul and swarms of Undead going after him would get him killed easily. Which left one option.. Fight with money.

Link started to research these foul Beasts, trying his best to learn as much as he could about these Cursed Creatures. Link found an old book written by a researcher named Han. He offered all the information Link needed. From what Link read, it sounded like he was no average Researcher.

This is what was written..

""Ghouls are hard to describe. In part, they resemble humans, yet at the same time, they are the utter negation of all that is human. Although they have arms and legs like men, they mostly walk on all fours like dogs or badgers. Though they have eerily familiar faces, one searches them in vain for any sign of sentiment, reason or even a spark of consciousness. They are driven by one thing and one thing only. An insatiable craving for flesh.

-- Fighting Strategy :

They fight like feral beasts. Their attacks are simple but powerful, but their real strength is their terrifying regeneration. They heal themselves with incredible speed, rendering most damage null with time.. If you wish to fight one, kill it quickly, or a prolonged fight will only lead to your exhaustion and a most painful death.

-- Weaknesses :

If you are looking for a weak point in their bodies. I'll have to disappoint you.

Their skin, muscle mass and nimble bodies make most attacks look weak and fail to provide the expected results.

But, I managed to capture a Ghoul and to the poor fiend's painful time together. I discovered some interesting reactions.. I named it Lucy by the way.

*First of all. These Creatures still have humanoid bodies. It does not matter what they look like or how much they changed.

They were once people like you and I. Their bodies can change all it wants but the original source was the body of a mortal. Which i've tested for days and nights.

They react to poison and venom slightly. Not as much as one should but their bodies did react. Since their bodies are still somewhat functioning after all.

I've fed my little pet here every type of poison I could get my hands on. And the results were fascinating. They feel no pain which made it hard for me to see if each poison worked, but I noticed the change in their skin color and many other symptoms. This might prove efficient in weakening them before a fight. I will leave some recommended Poisons that will do the trick…

Now, let's move to Venom. As you know, Poison and Venom are completely different. As they say, if it bites you and you die, that's Venom, but if you bite it and you die, that's poison.

Venom works by being injected into the bloodstream. Although Ghouls barely have one, it still might hinder them a little, so adding it to an arrow and firing it at a Ghoul before starting a fight won't do any harm.

*Second. If you wish to fight one by yourself. You must be proficient with at least one healing spell.. Not for you though.

Healing Magic is Holy. That is the only thing I could think of for the reaction Ghouls have for it.

For us. It heals our wounds, spreading our natural regenerative ability. But when used on a Ghoul, the results are horrifying. It seemed like I used some sort of a butchering spell. It had the complete opposite effects to what it does to us.

Poor Lucy.. She died too quickly.

To make things clear. Lucy is a newly turned Ghoul, which as well was extremely weak after days of testing. So her death was expected from something that damaged her.

Although I tried to use the Healing Spell on a Ghoul in the middle of a fight. It did not kill it but made its body start damaging itself, making it's flesh peel off on its own, blood and muscle tissue dropping everywhere. And I noticed one other thing as well. It became stiffer, which made it easier for me to dodge their attacks.

-- Conclusion :

First : I miss Lucy..

Second : Ghouls are still mysterious creatures, and the ones I fought were barely Level 4 at best so if you're going to fight stronger ones, have a plan B all the way to Z.

Third : I still miss Lucy. I should have been more careful..""

<This Han guy is pretty weird>

"Well, at least he provided us with some useful information" Link said, as he returned the book to his Inventory, near the Rings he purchased.

<I don't think you should have bought that many though>

"Like Han said. I need a Plan B, C, D all the way to Z. these Rings have healing spells that I will need. Either for me or the Creatures"
