15 15.TRUTH SERUM: PART TWO

Her laugh echoed throughout the room. Some of the men in the room had already stated shrinking back in fear. Stories of her deeds must have spread to this mart of the world too. Young Millim looked around and waited for something more interesting to happen. Her senses picked up anger from one of the men seated at the round table.

Her attention turned to him, eagerly waiting for his outburst. His displeasure skyrocket through the roof. He slammed his fist on the table. The poor table cracked in half but did not fall. His eyes were bloodshot red. He stated right into her eyes.

"BLASPHEMY! All trigger are male. Whatever tricks you pulled do not matter. Unless you can prove who or what it is you really are. I will not be carried away by some thought that you are the trigger king."

His statement eased some of the tension in the room. It was a known fact that all triggers ever to be born were male. This had recurred over and over throughout history without fail. Their features were distinct as well. A trigger born from the demon race had red eyes. One from ghouls had white eyes while one from beast men had dark green eyes that killed whomever saw them. This earned them the name `reaper ʼ.

There had never been a female trigger. Not a single one. All females born from a trigger's intermarriage or circumstances withstanding, a woman with a trigger's heir, the child always ended up being normal. This somehow had reduced the fear of triggers. Somehow. And now this little girl claimed she was a trigger. That was simply impossible.

On closer observation, Audrey recognized some of the features of the speaker. He looked familiar to her. Too familiar. She took her time and approached him.

"Dad?" she blurted.

She looked at Millim who looked back at her expressionless. She dared to think of what this meant. And if what she thought was true, then she was not safe at home. The era they were in was far too old for her to recognize. Whatever time this was, it was deliberately wiped off the records and history books.

Delta, her father was present. He looked much younger that he did now. Did mother know about this? Was she really their son? And if she wasn't did this mean that she had lived through all the eras like this man had? What happened that se could not remember any of this? Were Shawn and Ralph really his children? Or was that a lie too?

Her thoughts made her curiosity grow. She called Doan and let the scene before occupy her brain. Audrey hoped that the answers would present themselves one way or the other. This just made thing more complex. And whatever Millim wanted her to see must have been of importance. But, she could not shake the fact that her body was still lying in her room without anyone watching out for her.

Young Millim was amused indeed. She nodded her head and pointed his way. She congratulated him on finding out what everyone knew. She then added a question, one none of them had thought about.

"And if that is the case as it should be, then what am I?"

The expressions in the room were plunged into a sea of thought. Some wondered what she meant. Others knew she was bluffing. Others simply plotted a way for them to escape with their lives intact. No one knew the answer to her question. They looked at one another to confirm if the other did. She erupted in laughter once more. This time she was pointing at someone else.

"So close." She said. "Does it mean that am perfect or is it a simple way of tormenting those who thought they knew all, right?" she looked straight into his eyes. The young man seated among the round table members face paled. She had told aired his thoughts on the matter.

"It's none, but you were close. This is the answer."

Young Millim recited the prophesy made by the oracle. Word for word. This meant that they had miscalculated. They thought they man would be the male species. They completely ignored the fact that the word had more meaning to it than what they thought it meant. And of this was tried then she was whom she claimed to be.

The sound of chains falling was heard. The whole looked in her direction. She stood in the middle of the room, dusting her clothes. The chains that had bounded her, lay on the ground. What she had done was impossible. The chains that had bonded her were not ordinary. They had been engraved in light magic runes that should have kept her in check.

She being from the demon race, should have been bound till someone else removed them for her. Did they miscalculated this as well? And if they had, what was her true power? Young Millim hummed quietly as she made an attempt to sit. A dark throne appeared out of thin air supporting her. It was decorated in white marble along the edges. Not much could be picked out since she had sat on it.

"What do think?"

It was a known fact. Only a trigger king could pull out his throne. Whether it was intentional or not, each trigger King ever born had a throne. This was one way a trigger king could be identified. The throne could change according to one's race. And light magic creatures were not exempted from becoming triggers either. Her throne, however, was one that had not been seen or recorded in any of the books they had. It oozed of great power. Both menacing but peaceful.

"Why don't we get this party started?" she egged them on.

Young Millim's right hand rested under her chin. Her right leg also rested on her left leg. She patiently waiting for the panic stricken men to act or more importantly, breathe. It was funny how people feared her when they realized that this era's triggering was a woman. Most women from different races took this as an opportunity to see and catch up with their children and lovers.

Others, however, were too afraid to do anything out of fear of the rage of the society. Confusion and rage filled the air. And the main question on everyone's mind was; how could the trigger King be a woman?
