18 National Examination

The bells rang signaling that school ended. The group of four went into Leon's low-key black Mercedes-Benz and drove to Rose Mall, the biggest mall in City A.

Feifei dragged Beatrice around the stores and looked at clothes while the boys trailed behind them. The employees didn't know Leon was here as the student and was too low-key for them to notice. Leon was glad they didn't because he didn't want to look like an arrogant young master in Beatrice's eyes.

"How about we buy matching hoodies?" Feifei suggested.

"Ouuu yeah! What color though?" Mark looked at the fine and soft hoodie that cost a lot. They were currently in a designer shop so the prices were more expensive. But what's the problem if they had the owner of the building right next to them?

"Blue" Beatrice pointed at the beautiful grey blue that caught her eyes.

The boys took the large size hoodies and the girls middle size. Beatrice took the hoodie when another hand held onto it. She looked to see a girl in a different school uniform.

"Let go, I had it first" Beatrice said calmly as she tightened her grip.

"But I want it. I'll pay you twice the amount for it" she said with arrogance.

"No" Beatrice yanked it into her embrace.

"Do you know who I am?! Give it to me or I'll have the security throw you out!" The girl shrieked. She had been waiting for this hoodie to come out for a long time, but she was a second too late from the last one.

Seeing Beatrice not responding she gritted her teeth, "my father is the Chief police officer don't make me call him here!"

"And do what? Kill me to get the hoodie?" Beatrice scoffed at her childishness.

The girl clenched her fists in anger, she launched herself at Beatrice but Beatrice dodged making her fall on the ground embarrassingly.

Feifei laughed and said, "leave the child Bea, let's go check out the hoodies."

The group left the girl who still lay down on the ground burning with embarrassment and irritation.

Beatrice was taking out her credit card that her father gave here when an arm stretched out from behind her, giving the cashier a black card. She then said, "I'm treating today."

"I'll buy it for us. It's not that much" Leon replied gently.

The employee saw the black card and wanted to say something but Leon put a finger on his lips, telling her to shut up.

Beatrice shrugged, "alright thank you."

Leon bought the hoodies for the group and they went out of the store matching with one another.

They went to the dining area, got some food and drinks then studied for a bit. Then later Leon drove the girls home after their little trip.

The weekend unfortunately passed by quickly as Monday came. The National Examination was held in multiple places and each place had a list of schools organized. No. 1 High School students are to report to Kings University campus where the examination will be held.

Today was a special day for students and their families. Many parents came with their child to cheer them up and pray for them to pass this treacherous 6 hour exam. Beatrice was no different as she came with her brother and parents.

"Beatrice! Don't panic when you get those stacks of papers! Remember to skip hard questions and do the easy ones first!" Damien gave her some advice.

"I'm sure my Beatrice will be fine! She ate all of the nutritious breakfast I made" her mother smiled.

She saw her father pulled out a charm of some sort from his outer pocket and gave it to her. "This is a good luck charm. I gave one to your brother when he took the exam and he did well, so I bought another for you" her father said.

Beatrice hugged her family before entering the building and found the three standing among the crowd of students.

"Bea! Over here!" Feifei waved her over.

On Feifei's neck was a charm necklace, Beatrice guessed it was from her family.

"I saw everyone have some kind of good luck charm on them HAHA do you think these things will work?" Mark asked.

"If you don't believe in them, then they won't work" Beatrice said, making Mark sweat.

"The exam hasn't even started yet and you're making Mark sweat already" Feifei laughed.

Soon, the staff instructed the students where their exam rooms were in the ginormous campus. The four were separated into different rooms and they started their exams.

The whole exam takes 6 hours but including the intervals in between it took a bit more than 7 hours. After every two hours, students were free for only fifteen minutes before taking the next subject.

Between the interval Beatrice found Feifei in the bathroom after finishing two subjects.

"The next subject is science ughhhhh. Two hours of physics? My brain is rotting Bea! Rotting!" Feifei cried. After crying she felt her head lighter than before.

They were walking towards the examination room when they encountered a familiar face. "Bea! It's the child!" Feifei pointed at the girl in a different uniform from theirs.

"Oh look who we have here!" The girl's arrogance still showed. "You should take that charm necklace off, even good luck can't save your grades."

The school this girl came from is a private school High Reins High School. The competition between No 1. High School and other schools were no secret. Many schools tried to be the top school, but No. 1 stood up to its name.

"Says the child who cried because she couldn't get her favorite hoodie. Boohoo!" Feifei teased. "Come on! Don't be shy! Jump towards us like the toad that you are!"

"Hey hey! What's going on?" A teacher came in separating the two girls.

"She's insulting me because she's from No. 1 and I'm in the crappy High Reins!" The girl faked her tears.

"You there! Apologize to my student!" The teacher demanded.

"Why should I? I wasn't lying when I said she jumped like a toad! You should look at the footage at the mall the other day!" Feifei laughed.

"I bet you guys won't even make it to the top ten rankings of this Examination! She is my top student and you're destroying her mental state before the final subject!" The teacher yelled, attracting the attention of other staff and teachers.

"You want to bet?" Beatrice tilted her head and looked at the teacher with a grin. "Alright then let's bet. I'll apologize to her if she gets into the top ten in rankings, I'll even kowtow if she asks. But if I came into the top ten rankings, she'll kowtow to both me and Feifei and kiss our shoes."

"What-" the girl didn't get to refuse before her teacher said, "Fine! What's your names?"

"Beatrice Broan and Wu Feifei. See you at the rankings, High Reins" she turned around not bothering to ask for the girls name.
