5 Imprisonment

Spies? Unless her family haven't told her about them being spies, Beatrice wouldn't know they were. And she doubt they were too.

"Who accused us of being spies? And what other treasons did we commit?" Beatrice asked looking up at the Knights.

The Commander looked down with a disgusted face while stating, "A Princess from our ally kingdom have said she saw your brother helping spies to cross the border. As well as your family running an illegal slave trafficking and planning a coup d'etat."

"What? My brother was fighting and eliminating those who crosses the border! Not helping them! And slave trafficking? We also have pride in our hearts to never do such disgracing thing!" Beatrice yelled out of anger. Her family is the mighty Broan for crying out loud! They never short in money, why would they have a slave traffic? They were the family who would PROTECT the kingdom, not overturn it.

Beatrice's team couldn't believe what they were hearing, their boss couldn't and wouldn't do such a thing.

"Where's your proof that Beatrice ever do such a thing!" Huggens yelled out.

Looking over to the four standing there, the Commander said, "we do have proof. Take her away now."

The Knight was forceful with Beatrice as they took her into a carriage with her hands still tied behind her back.

The Imperial Knights took off on their horses, with their accused criminal.

Beatrice sat in the carriage thinking about who is trying to frame her family because she knows her family who never do such disgusting thing. She couldn't run away, it would make the situation even worse and they would suspect a criminal who's guilty to run away.

She can guess they were heading to the palace... Beatrice just hope that they don't have fabricated evidence against her family.

After about half an hour, the carriage stopped and one of the Knight opened the door as they dragged her out. Beatrice had seen the palace before, but today it became more eerie than the last times she had visit. Was it because it was night time or her gut feeling?

Beatrice followed the Commander and the Knights into the palace. Then they entered the throne room.

On the high seats sat the Emperor of the Len kingdom, his Empress, and the Crown Prince. On the bottom, stood the officials and Ministers and knelt Beatrice's parents.

"Mother! Father!" Beatrice yelled catching the attention of everyone in the room. She ran over to her parents never seeing them in such a disheveled state. Her mother cried, "we didn't do anything Beatrice, I don't understand why we are being accused."

She continued, "I was in the mansion with your father when the Imperial Knights suddenly came and arrest us. They found "evidence" that we have slave trafficking in one of our fiefs and thought that we would betray the kingdom."

"I'll be damned! I did so much for this kingdom for them to falsely accused me of being a traitor!" She heard her father said with anger.

"You are not falsely accused Broan. There is evidence for each of your treasons" the Emperor finally spoke. "Your son is still on the run as we are speaking. These evidences are enough for me to grant you a death sentence General."

The room fell into complete silence. The officials and ministers saw this coming, while the Broan family's faces paled.

A death sentence? With false evidence?

The family couldn't say anything as they don't have anything to support them. No evidence that they didn't do it and no alibis to help them either. In short, they were in a bind.

THUD

The door were slammed opened as Mr. Hanson walked in with a gloomy face looking at his best friend kneeling on the ground with a defeated look.

"Your Majesty, if you were to eliminate General Broan now then you would lose your most secure shield in this kingdom. I know my friend well enough to say based on their personality, they wouldn't even think of doing such a thing!" Mr. Hanson bellowed trying to convince his stupid of a brother.

"That is your opinion, not facts" the Emperor refuted.

"For crying out loud! They were supporting our border by sending Damien, not help spies entering our border! It's their job to shield us" Mr. Hanson's vein can be seen popping out, waiting to burst.

"And they can betray us just like that" the Emperor's skin was too thick. He stood and stated, "I, Derkins Paren, Emperor of Len Kingdom, declare for General Broan and his family to be executed tomorrow for the treasons they have committed!"

Mr. Hanson knew his brother is afraid of General Broan for the longest time. Now that he had secured false evidence against the General, he could eliminate a strong threat to his throne.

The Knights took away the Broan family into the dungeon located underground, while Mr. Hanson rack up his brains trying to think of a way to save his best friend.

The Knights led them down the stairs and towards a dimly lit place underground. It had torches lit on the sides of the walls, showing the dirty and unsanitary cells. There was a strong stench of rodents and iron... Beatrice was not surprised to see dried blood everywhere in addition to skeletons.

The Knights put her in one cell, her mother to the left, then to the right her father. All that's separating their cells were iron bars. How diabolical, they even put the family into separate cells before their death sentence.

Beatrice wondered where Damien and Leon was. She just hope that at least they don't capture Damien and hoped maybe Leon can save her from this crisis. Beatrice could only hope now.
