3 The end of the Beginning

She didn't even try to make it sound like a question, but I'd have done it anyway, even if I had a choice.

I floated towards the broken spear handle, I don't know if I did that, or if she made me do it. But that's not important. Standing under it made me feel small. It has to be at least 20 meters high, but I think she made it so I can turn it for a couple of rounds.

I put my hands on it, and I pushed it down as hard as I could... And I found out that she didn't made it so that it's super light… so it went real slow. But it did keep going at that speed, it didn't slow down at all. I guess she fixed the weight issue by just taking the friction away.

A little container with food appeared from somewhere in her coat, I saw a worm fall out. I really don't want to know where that came from.

It flew up to the crow on top of the wheel, it stopped just below the pins of the different wheel parts, I guess the wheel will stop when the crow puts it beak in between them to get the food.

The crow starts eying the worms, it threatened to pick it a few times but it stopped cause it was scared of the pins going past. But after a while it puts it beak down, my forehead is sweating, that stupid bird decides my fate.

The wheel stops, and I didn't even dare to look right away. I was still convincing myself that I'll be fine with whatever it says, I'll fight my way to the top of the world from the bottom of the ladder if I need to.

But just as I was convincing myself I hear a muffled laugh behind me. Her laugh sends even more shivers down my spine than her smile. How bad will my luck be for her to fall out of character? I took a deep breath and looked up there was a light in one compartment, and it said "Oh, that's ironic." Like what the f*ck does that even mean?

I looked at her, and even before I could open my mouth, she said: "I guess you'll find out when you wake up again. But let's not dwindle on this, onto the next one. What do you pick as subject? Just say whatever you want, you might get nothing, you might get a debuff, but you might get a cheat out of this, so pick wisely."

I already thought about it, I do want to have a good chance at surviving, and I also want something that helps me on my entire journey. So I will go with a system, even though she might be bored of stories with systems though, but hey, I don't really care about her entertainment. And I might end up with some stupid system by her unlucky wheel anyway.

"I want a system, something like in those novels. You talked about novels before, so I know that you know what I mean."

She smiles, it creeps me out again.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. Wait no, I want a system that helps me." She's like a genie, she'll trick me if I'm not specific enough, but I was on time.. right?

"You said yes already, let's get yourself a system."

The letters on the wheel changed, there were hundreds of possible races or scenarios to be reincarnated in, and there are hundreds of systems now.

The first one I saw was named 'the talkative loli system' why would I even want that? I prefer to talk to myself like I always do than having a mind reading, overly enthusiast, little girls voice in my head all the time.

I just stopped reading right away, she'll cheat my fate anyway. I pulled the spear up this time. And it started spinning just like before.

"I'll just look at you this time, maybe you'll break character again to give me a tip on its quality"

It took a while before the crow put its beak down. But when it did, I saw the corner of her mouth twitch. I prefer that over her laughing, or anything really.

I looked around and saw 'Summarization System', I looked back at her.

"What does it do?"

Her face blackened a tiny bit, I smiled.

"It'll summarize that for you when you'll wake up, so it'll be soon." She smirks again "And I'm the goddess that foretells doom, death, and victory in battle, and I foretold your death before. And this time? Will it be your doom or your victory?" she breaks out in a full smile, her teeth are black and pointy, her eyes turn blue and black again.

Before my fear has time to come again she snaps her fingers and my mind goes dark, and that's it.

(a small part from Morrigan's point of view)

I snap my fingers to make him faint so his soul can be put in his host.

I'm so sick of looking at his face, I'm sure he thinks that his souls is completely gray so I did a good job.

She looks at his face, in his gray face there's a red line that represents a needle on the bridge of his nose, under each eye there are three lines that are bent in the middle. But the most special part is that the entire shape of his eyes are red, the left eye has white lines woven into it, and the right one black, it reminds her of insect wings.
