9 A Dragon's Influence

My blood control leveled up again, and my 5 nails are around 1,5cm long. It might seem small, but if one finds its way into a spine, heart or brain it's over really fast.

It was getting dark, but I wasn't getting tired so I kept on flying.

As I was flying something entered my dome, it was fast, long, had 4 wings, and it gave me an eerie feeling. The worst part wasn't that it was flying in my dome, but it was flying straight at me. Most creatures stay well clear from me when they see me, but this guy is hunting me? He dares to hunt me!? I'll make sure he'll never hunt again.

I dive down and it just misses me, as it flies above me I extend a needle towards it, the sharp edge straight at it. I imagine him cutting itself in half already.

But it makes a shallow cut on its mouth and a shallow white mark all the way down its body. It did practically nothing.

It flies past me and turns, but he turns just outside of my dome. Does he know, or just have such a large turning circle? I don't know, nor do I care, I just care about winning. No, I just want to kill it, I will kill everything that dares to go against me.

It enters my dome again and it's heading straight at me once more. This time I send the needles towards it, 3 are pointed to just behind its head and 2 are stationed to cut off its wings.

The 3 hit their mark, they hit right in its neck joint, but they barely brake skin. The 2 to cut its wings fail, the wings cut through the sharp needles instead.

But the 3 on its neck are enough, I pump in as much blood as I can and it works. Due to the small amount of poison in the blood it visually slows down and doesn't fly as straight anymore. It's practically dead already, but it can still take me with it if I'm not careful.

It practically in front of me, I fly up and over it, my claw cuts off 3 of its wings and it spirals down. It hits the ground hard. And I suddenly notice something, as my focus is in its highest it has ever been. This was the closest I've been to death in a battle since I reincarnated. And I noticed a great power coming from close to the dragonfly's heart.

I came closer and my thirst came up, this is blood essence, and I really really want it. This is what I've been looking for.

I make a stinger needle, I stab it through its carapace and I suck up the blood essence. It's still alive and I can see it weaken, the eerie feeling that it had up to now is gone.

I bring the sphere with the dragonfly blood essence in front of me, and I drink it. The burning sensation started again, I need to kill the dragonfly first. I control the blood I injected inside it before and use it to mush up its brain. It dies before the heat gets worse.

And then it hit me, a pain in my entire body. It feels like I'm going to blow up again, it feels like my back will rip open, and it actually did. Just under the place where my wings are 2 more wings sprouted and my wings grew bigger, my abdomen elongated and I felt my body growing stronger.

The pain is like hell, I curse the woman that put me here, I curse this world with those stupid creatures, I curse my own weakness. And as I curse my weakness the pain gets less bad. I lose my sense of time and everything burns for ages.

My senses come back, I stretch my wings fully. They've grown twice as long and twice as many. This is the first time I've felt this majestic in this body, my body has grown to a length of 2cm, which is about 3 to 4 times as big as before. The change feels bigger compared to my evolution, but at the same time it doesn't feel that different.

It feels like there's just been an increase in my power, but there are no different skills. So I'm still the same being, I think?

So I gained 5 levels in a single drop of blood, my race evolved which changed my cap level, and my blood control is now level 4. Just going for blood essence is a great idea after all, it's just pretty much unbearable.

As the aftershocks of the pain reside and the excitement of the power up slowly calm down I feel extremely tired. I fly up to the underside of a leaf, I plant myself down and I fall asleep.

I wake back up and it's light again, there are some vague memories of a dream, there's the Morrigan, and someone else, but I can't remember. Just the feeling that there was someone else.

I look around me, the body of the dragon fly has been cleared away, probably eaten or dragged away by ants. I think about my next step and I start to form a plan, but first I need to familiarize with my new body and get some blood to control.

I start flying and I'm unimaginably fast, or I'm at least three times as fast as first. I think I'm even faster than the dragonfly was.

After flying around some more I'm ready to hunt for blood, I look around and I see another earth bending bug just like my first kill. It's just not that big compared to me anymore, probably just twice as long. I fly to it and cut right through its back before it even had time to react. It dies instantly, it didn't even hide. Or maybe it's not strong enough to move the ground yet.

I drain its blood and I can control all of it without weighing me down, I get excited and hunt for more.
